Edited by: Corbin Devereux on 11/01/2007 12:22:26 If our characters don't know earth existed and moa birds were extinct long before space travel then how do the caldari know about them?
Edit: Am i the only one who thinks of this kind of thing?

We do sorta remeber the existance of earth, but it's more a legend than anything else. Anyway, If earth was in-game, it'd need a nerf. ---------- It's great being minmatar, ain't it |

Isn't it obvius that the named have lived in their language through fairy tales and legends told for centuries.
Maybe some of their ancestors saw a big birdlike alien thing and they said "It looks lika a moa", and someone said "What?" and then they had to explain and it stuck.
Use your imagination dude :)

If cats always land on their feet and buttered toast always lands buttered side down, if you strap buttered toast to the back of a cat and drop them will they float?

Actually, a little known fact.
The Cat will go crazy and try and get the toast off, apparently it was tried by some less than savoury scientists and the cat went mental when they dropped it.
Aiming for the longest Sig hijack ever! Write me a story about a young pilot called Daravel... |

It'll land on it's feet, and to observe the laws of buttered toast roll onto its back. Poor thing will wonder why it did that, as it's not the normal behaviour for a cat after landing on its feet.

IMO, the corp that terraformed the original caldary prime, seeded a few of those birds as part of the terraforming process. Living flying birds were needed to help fertilizing the land so they had a few of those. Last ones were killed during the Gallente orbital bombardment. Caldaris then build a new ship class and named it Moa, in honor of the extint bird.
As per the butter on bread stuff, you all need to watch more Mythbusters. |

1) Moa's are already extinct as of about 500 years ago.
2) Moa's couldn't fly.

And your clone isn't really a clone because there is no such thing as cloning. Who is to say that there wasn't some ancient DNA library and extinct animals that were mislabeled were cloned from it. This is a fictional game people need to stop taking it so literally.
People should be asking themselves what wussified culture would be naming a cruiser built for war after a stupid bird like a Moa. And why would said culture name 3 of their cruisers after birds, then name one after a cat?
