Morning. I'm looking for a few pointers in the fight direction in relation to running DED sites.
Firstly I don't pve, I don't run missions or any sites, I don't mine etc etc
But after looking at a few videos on you tube i thought id give it a try when I only have an hour or two when logged in. So to cut a long story short, how do I find these sites, I understand they need to be scanned down and they have rooms etc but i just want a little help in what to look for. How do I know it's a 2/10, 3/10 etc.
ISK is not a problem, so getting a good ship is fine. Any link for me to read up on would be awesome or any links for videos
I am all about the pew hence my question.
Much love

Yes you can probe them and they appear as Combat sites, you'll have to google the names and see if they come up as a rated site (DED 3, DED 4, etc) There are unrated ones too but I am not really an expert on those. I run lots of 3 and 4/10's.
Basically follow the instructions on the wiki, sometimes it's a rat at the end you shoot, others it's a structure. Gila or Stratios work great for 3/10 and 4/10.
You can also run anomalies. https://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Cosmic_Anomaly
Scroll down to Escalations.
Here it lists what anomalies have a chance of escalating to a DED site. Simply kill all the rats and you'll get a pop up if you're lucky. The location is in your journal under expeditions. If you're doing these with a friend in a fleet, everyone will get the popup but only one person will have it in their journal.
I think these are really fun and the reward is anywhere from just the overseer's effects to a few blue mods and a pirate faction spaceship BPC.

you dont need to google the rating, just warp and hit stop straight away and a popup with come on screen telling you the rating

Hello and welcome to exploration.
Cosmic Anomalies don't need to be scanned. Those show up at 100% allowing access to anyone just by opening up the on-board ship system scanner. These sites are good for running if there's no other exploration sites available and have a small chance to escalate to a DED Rated Combat site.
Cosmic Signatures (DED Rated and Unrated Combat sites) need to be scanned using a Probe Launcher and Core Probes.
The Unrated Combat sites have a good chance to escalate into expedition which could continue for 4 stages with a chance of getting good loot in each stage.
The DED Rated Combat sites don't escalate and usually drop good loot.
Be aware, there's a lot of competition in high sec so expect other players to enter the sites and try to get the Overseer first. Best look for sites in systems that are far away from Mission and Trade Market hubs. Check map stats for systems with low amount of population, ship jumps, NPC kills, etc.
Good luck to you.

Thanks all for the information so far
Sorry to nag, what happens on the last site? Just go and kill the overseer and it drops a can with the loot? But as some of you say anyone can warp to this site right? So best not do it in high sec?
Also, if I find a 10/10 for example, what do u use for them? And can u solo them? I'm guessing a high dps and tanked rattle??
Many thanks |

https://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Escalating_encounters
Escalation locations always lead to another system and can't be found by probing, however your ship and drones can be found with probes.
DED 1/10 up to DED 4/10 sites and their equivalents (Unrated Combat sites) are found in high sec. Those sites along with all the other sites can be found in Low and Null space. To minimize the chance of having the competition completing the sites before you, best to have high level skills and equipment as well as knowledge about the site itself (Triggers / Spawns).

Could you answer me one important question: Can I find DED 5/10 sites in null-sec??? |

Fairly certain that's actually wrong. 5/10s should only spawn in low. 6/10 is the lowest naturally occurring site in null and upgrades should only improve how many things spawn, not which ones. |

Gosh! I wanted to run null sec combat sites in NPC null. That means fighting Serpentis pirates. However as I understand Serpentis plexes:
- DED 5/10 is not present in null - DED 6/10 does not exist at all
so I woud be forced to run Serpentis DED 7/10 and DED 8/10 there. I am not hurry to run such dangerous plexes in my Tengu as a newbie in combat exploration so now I think about selling my Tengu... |

Serpentis 7/10 is a joke; you could easily run it if you can do a 5. Serpentis 6 does (kind of) exist but is one of the harder complexes out there. It's definitely the hardest thing to spawn in low. It also pops up in null but... stay away if you're at all risk averse.

In all rated sites you need to kill either overseer or structure in the lst room for loot, but some sites may have faction NPC in rooms before. For example in Serpentis Narcotic Warehause there is one in 2nd and 3rd room. Make sure you check those as on few occasions i got more loot from those faction NPCs than from last overseer. |

once you kill the overseer, bookmark the wreck and warp out, wait 5mins then warp to the wreck and loot up :) saves killing the whole room :)

Many thanks Actually, a deadspace fit tengu would be better than a rattle for null. You're either going to have to probe them down or get them from escalations by running Sanctums, so either way, you'll have to travel to get to the site. This is much easier to do in a cloaky nullified tengu holding a mobile depot and the fitting you had to take off to make the tengu cloaky nullified.
EvE is hard. It's harder if you're stupid.
I couldn't have said it better.

About the lower rated ones spawning in null, I think they are able to. When I used to live in Provi there would occasionally be 2/10's and 3/10's. Was always nice to find since no one else really bothered with them so hop in an ishkur and do them real fast
That said, since I've moved out to Vale, I havn't seen a single site under 6/10. Not sure if that's just chance based, or npc based, or what, but figured I'd add it. |
