I look forward to the time I plan to invest in EVE but whats next? With games as ambitious as Star Citizen on the horizon, what is CCP going to do to maintain its fan base? Already Ive witnessed a pretty large decline in players which saddens me. I wonder if EVE will ever get a massive overhaul or something

Also who knows if it will even be fun? I also imagine the server crapping out on a "fleet" battle. anyone know what a "fleet" is in that game 20, 40, 50, 100? I think eve has a lot of good ideas on the horizon, and if they get executed well I think we should be alright. Seems to me that null needs a bit of work but past that a lot of the rest of the game is pretty decent. Also there is the whole Valkyrie thing that sounds awesome, that could get people in. @ChainsawPlankto

Honestly, I find it baffling that anyone thinks SC (or Elite, for that matter) represents a substitute good for Eve. Things they have in common: -They're space-themed video games. And... that's about it. You may as well say that Chess and Checkers are in competition because they're both played on an 8x8 grid, or that Marmite is a substitute good for peanut butter. Agreed. Star Citizen/etc talks a big game, but sandbox gameplay is not a thing where you can simply hop right on the shoulders of the giants that came before, and refine on their work. The depth, balance, and potential of Eve is the culmination of over 10 years of working trial, error, and iteration, all in an area of knowledge that few others are working on. At present, these newer games speak in broad terms about their features, they describe things in general, conceptually. But if Eve has taught us anything, it's that the details are what determines if the big picture is actually any good. If these newer games touch even a portion of what Eve has already achieved, without a long period of iteration, I will be astounded. Until then, Eve stands alone, without competition.

Sadly over the past few years that hasn't happened and slowly but surely the self fulfilling prophecy becomes more of a reality with every change in the wrong direction which is kinda ironic because they made those changes to battle any perceived loss of customers and now, because of them, it might actually happen. Still not too late but it requires vision and direction, preferably from someone who actually understands the game (which, it seems, is the problem right there).

EVE players like that are no contributing factor to the game at all, the game isn't better off with them nor is it worse off without them. All they'll do is whine about how the game isn't what they want it to be and demand changes. So if you really think ED is better then, by all means, please go there. Chances are that if you'll try it, perhaps for a month or two and then realise how really fcking shallow that game really is, how empty and meaningless. A ****** competitor is the best advertisement EVE can have because it'll rake in new people to a space game theme which then disappoints them to hell, and then they'll look for another space game: EVE.

Eve isn't about being the 'one', the destined hero, tackling a mighty quest and beating the big bad guy. Eve is more about being part of the universe. Don't get me wrong, SC says it wants to be a big sandbox game, but the language they use to sell it makes it all about YOU. 'Your own deep space adventure', 'your destiny', 'your choice matters', 'play the character you've always dreamed of being'. This kind of stuff attracts PvE RP. That's fine, I ******* love Skyrim, but I don't think it works in an Eve kind of game. Eve is brutal. Eve throws you into a universe full of players stronger and more established than you and says 'Here are the tools, if you want to be something special you have to claw your way up. Nothing is 'fair', noone owes you anything, and you WILL get killed. Have fun'. I'm pretty convinced that SC, by dreaming so big, will end up being more like a theme-park styled game, showering players with rewards and praise. Basically I don't think they'll be the same type of game, I don't think SC will be quite as 'anything goes' as eve. I could be completely wrong though.

You know, now that I see prototypes of future capitals and citadels, I tend to think so, even if other grand revolutions, like PvE remake, won't get through for quite a while. My friends and I came to the game after reading the 2009 book "empyrean aga" And I inequality "Hollywood plot" sechas who are trying to create. Yes, I am very bad at English. OP, there are some pretty big changes coming up in a few months (citadels, cap changes) plus more due soon after (player stargates, more structures, new space). http://updates.eveonline.com/ is worth looking at. Zappity's Adventures for a taste of lowsec.

OP, there are some pretty big changes coming up in a few months (citadels, cap changes) plus more due soon after (player stargates, more structures, new space). http://updates.eveonline.com/ is worth looking at.
