I guess this may of been changed, i don't know, anyone know any better?
GSUK: This is the first of a couple of patches in Revelations, right?
Nathan Richardsson: Yes, the feature list for Revelations is so huge--it was insane to try and put it all out together. The second patch will have graphical improvements and some more warfare additions, and the third one will be used to address any issues arising out of the first two parts, to make sure it's all balanced and working well.

"more" ?
"huge feature list" ?
Right, well, one thing hasn't changed, obviously.

I also want to know, having just watched the revelations vid again, is in the new ship models, are they going to model the launcher slots, not just the turrets?
Would seem to be a wasted oportunity if they didn't? i don't know... ______________________________________ Natural Selection Developer

From what I can tell from the recent dev blogs is they expanded the "new ship models" patch to include stations and the like, which means they need more time for it hence graphics were pushed back to Kali 3 while even more alliance fun time is set for Kali 2. -- Lil Miner Newbie Skills Roadmap | How to Build from a BPO |

Well... if possible, I would like to request graphics updates before Revelations 3. Since we are currently at Revelations 1.2, with 1.3 coming this month, then Rev 1.4 in march... then after a while, Rev 2, with Rev 2.1, 2.2 etc most likely. And then Rev 3.0 sometime in the distant future.
It would be fun to get new graphics sooner.

I dont think CCP ever said which kali part the graphic engine upgrades were going to be in. I believe they just stated march/april. And according to the newest dev blog.. Kali 2 is supposed to be out in march.

Later we will see Revelations 1.4, again focusing on fixes, improvements and performance issues, which you should see somewhere in March.
And it doesnt say when Rev 2 comes. And he or kieron posted the new graphics would be in Rev 3. --- Eve Wiki | Eve Tribune |

Yes, because the first thing people will do is switch off all turret effects because of the lag!

This is actually an older interview than the dev-blog, mind you (december). There is also the difference between the engine itself and the actual models. Ships are getting ready, as can be seen in Red's blog, Stations, Gates, Starbases and environments are just starting.
The engine itself is a bit different, depending on whether you are talking about our optimizations to our DX7/9 engine or the optional Vista engine - or the actual combination of both which is the big package. Currently, the big bada-boom is in Revelations 3 at the end of the year. There will be engine upgrades in Revelations 2.

I'm still confused too...
Does "engine upgrades in Revelations 2" mean upgrades to the DX9 engine with or without the new models? If not the ship models then what exactly are the upgrades? --------------

OMG did I just bump this?
Can you guys at ccp print this thread out, make approximately 1.5 billion copies of it and drop them all at the Oveur desk at once please? Im not being unreasonable, im really not. And let me decide what is unreasonable, otherwise this wont work.
So yeah, when are the new ship models showing up for the current client?

If I read Ov's response correctly, the engine arrives sooner than the models. The models will arrive with the release at the end of the year.
For those asking about the engine and models difference, I'll try and separate the two... as I understand it.
The engine is the underlying code that decides what to draw and when. This code was conceived and written YEARS ago, and has been incremently updated throughout EVE's lifetime. However, with DX10 coming out, and how radically different it is (not a personal experience, only what I've read so far)from the current DX, CCP decided it was time to re-write the code from the ground up. What this means is, CCP has the option to take advantage of all the software writing technical updates, process updates, and language updates that have occurred over the intervening years between the initial release of EVE and what we're drooling over.
Once the ENGINE is in place, tested, and patched (I believe when Kali 2 is released), then CCP will release the new, high-polygon count ship models that grace countless desktop and dance the macarena in so many frontal lobes at night while we dream.
A side effect of this new ship-model release, I hear that the Icelandic Postal Service is planning on hiring all of Canada to assist in the accompanying Beer deliveries to CCP headquarters. Poor Iceland... they don't realize that the Canadian workers are just as likely to abscond with the beer as they are to deliver it. That's why I'm shipping my keg in a brown paper bag.

Am I the only one starting to get tired of patches like this? I remember when it was just "We have a patch coming out in a few weeks, maybe longer, it'll have xxx in it" all of this seems just so irritating. We get a big fancy splash page for whats coming in "Revelations" and then get a tiny spoon full over the next year, and they get the press like they put out a whole cd of content like the other mmo companies.
Is ccp really hurting that bad for press and business? I mean, as cool as the whole "expansion rush" is, is this really neccesary?

That's including the vista client? I know you guys are making a DX9 client too but forgive me if I'm a bit skeptical about the install base for DX10 cards by years end.
I doubt you guys will back off on the DX10 only part but if you can really get it all ready that soon wouldn't it make a bit more sense to push the DX9 client first then bring in the DX10 client a bit later?
