If this is a laid back rat den then I'm going to recap on the most valuable schematics an MMO should have.
When it comes to group activity it is not winning, you don't really get to choose your companions, they really aren't going to be the same skill as you, and you may not like them. Bruce Lee is not the winner if he brings 5 friends into a fight.
If you want players to play for as long as we want to play (lifetime) then you need to have something to do for a lifetime, something to gain. Once you reach 100 you can get bored fast.
You can do unlimited levels by spanning them out for a lifetime instead of an infinite amount.
You can also make a lifetime NPC level format. 1 month level rat, 2 month level rat, 1 year level rat, 864 level rat (72 years)
You can even make a lifetime span of military operations and/or mining and etc. One big one per month that is time consuming to say something simple. Just need 864 missions.
It would take more than a lifetime to master space (spaceships) in real life. So this is a realistic approach.
Another thing that I've contemplated is the overwhelming nature of not being an ancient in the MMO and thus I would say with unlimited cloaking abilities/levels being soley for not dieing is the way to go. Where you can train decloaking(enemy) and cloaking(you) and whereas it takes level 50 years in missiles to win the game you wouldn't have level 50 years in decloaking. This idea can definitly lead into not having a navy to have to watch after rookies. But I haven't thought that all the way through yet.

Yige has to keep his hand in, there is competition for shiptoasting in the f&i lately. Could name names, but the current war dec whine and mtu whine threads are good examples.
Man has to make sure he's top of the sh*t pile, and to do that you have to keep adding crap to the pile. Word to the wise, Yige: diarrhea runs downhill and doesn't pile well.
