I am starting this thread mainly in response to ccp's unresponsivness to this 11+ page thead:
http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=38914&page=1
Im starting to think that these forums are only here to ammuse us and keep us busy while ccp takes a nap at the desk and enjoys unusaly long lunch hours....
What i would like is for us to use this thread as a place to post email addresses and other such contact info of the dev team and other cpp employees, so that we can organize some sort of usefull mailing campaign to try to force them to listen to us... or at the very least, have them post that they occassionaly read the boards. in that entire 11+ thread, not a single ccp employee posted. THATS INSANE!!!! so, lets get this ball rolling, shall we?

That devs do not post in the Idea Lab is a large concern for me, and a matter I raised on General Discussion last week - linking to the thread in question as an example - but with no reply from any at CCP.
The whole purpose of the Idea Lab is for us to share our ideas with CCP, but if they don't do us the courtesy to take the time to reply to in-depth discussions that players have here, it's pretty much pointless us even using this part of the forum, and paints a bad picture on the side of CCP. They may read these posts, but as we have no way of telling if they do or not, we can only assume that they do not, as we have no evidence to the contrary.
That said, over the last week or two I have seen greater CCP -> Player communication, but not in the Idea Lab as of yet. I don't know if it will be possible to succeed in getting devs to post here (it would be bloody nice though, esp. in the frigate thread), greater awareness of this problem can only be beneficial.

Wow Tyria you just gave me an idea. We could easily tell if a dev has read the post if they just add an dev-accessed column in there database. And when a dev looks at a post the database is updated, say the value is set to yes. Then each time a person comes to the post the value would be displayed at the top of the post. It should look something like this:
Viewed by Dev: Yes (could say No also)
||the posts here||
I think that would at least solve the viewing problem... it would be great though if they would at least respond once in a while.
Oh and I love the looks of the new website!

And using the same logic, we can only assume that they do, as we have no evidence to the contrary.

Yes, true, but considering all the facts, i think it is most likley that they have not read it, for if they did, they would have seen all the peolple asking for juat 1 word out of them.....

CCP have to read this! Most of the post are not just crazy ideas that wouldnt be able to do, its it serious posts, and the ideas are very easy to add to the game, if just CCP would read those posts... They should have 2 or 3 ppl, that checks this forum, a couple of times a day, and ANSWER them, so we know that they have read them and maybe it they will talk to the dev. team, and one day, the patch will come, with all the ideas (most of them) in it, and more ppl that hear abot this, buys eve, and comes with more ideas as they play the game... and then all could be happy and ccp will make loads of $$ a month =) ______________________________________________

As i told before, it would be great to make some sort of voting system for features people want. That way many people won't write the same idea every day, dev's will have to just pay attention to one big list of wishes, and there would be a definately good chance of really smart ideas to get to life.

They are just hurting themeslvs by not reading the forums.. There are so many great ideas on this board that it just boggles the mind how much better the game would be if just half of the good ideas where implemented.

Voting systems, are you kidding? People do NOT know what they want!! of all people if anyone knows what you want it's the devs!! They're not completely stoopid you know. What if the majority of players suddenly wanted space-whales in the game? huh? mega bummer man... I swear, if voting ever worked it'd be illegal...
Besides good stubborn argumentation is a thousand times more worth than a vote. If you can't argue for what you want, then you don't really want it.

You guys are in for a surprise in T2. Lets just say BS's won't be worth too much in PvP anymore and will need more then drone protection especially if they are against a frigate or cruiser. _______________________ CEO of Enron Corporation Enron Corporation (15 members of friends) |

And i know of several where, if they read it, they would post... this thread is a perfect example... all it would take is one post from them to end this discussion....

There should be the system, which prevent duplicating same idea being posted many times.

The GMs and Dev's do read the forums. I've seen many many posts from them. On www.eve-i.com there is a dev post finder to prove it.
As I understand it, some people are assigned to read and categorise information in the forums for dissemination to the rest of the team.
Asking them all to read and post would be a waste of resources that can be better used in doing what they're good at .. programming. | Join eve-webring.com to promote your site. |

Maybe some special person should receive proposes, complie them and add to vote-list. That way no whale-ideas would get in to it.

That is good, but talking to the wall doesn't help us, customers. Even if someone tell us what dev's read forums. If they are too busy to reply to us, they could have a special button "Noted" on this forum or "Good idea" - "Point noted" - "Too crasy idea". There must be some feedback from them. Otherwise there is no point in having this "Idea lab".

I want to apolagize to the devs if I seem ungratefull... I think i may have been a little to hard on them in my original post.. Its a great and beautiful game, but I do feel like im talking to the wall in here, lol... but is it too much to ask for some feedback?

While the feedback does 'seem' a bit lacking I am very sure that the devs do read adn listen to us players.
The proof? well look at all those changes on Chaos right now, most if not all have been suggested by players and even the way it is implemented is sometimes exactly as suggested.

What kinda feedback do you guys want? That all of your ideas are unoriginal, have been brought up hundreds of times and debated and discussed in multiple other game desing settings, including this one, pre alpha, through beta and the exact same ideas and discussions continue to rage unabated. This may be all very cool and intellectually stimulating for all of you, but the devs have been thinking of their game for years too and have already heard at least 99% of the arguements going on here and nobody should be curesed to having to lie through their teeth and come here and say, 'Hey, you are so clever! We will implement your wouldn't-it-be-so-cool idea soon in two weeks!' ____________________________________ Taggart wants YOU. Join TTi! *waves his hand in your face in the jedi way* |

thats a little harsh
if CCP already thought of 99% of all the new idears why have a new idear forum
could it be that CCP realize that it is the players that play the game and the idear that CCP thinks is oh so good may NOT go over well with the players
also there is alot of good idears in here and there is many new idears in here what would be nice would be that CCP achnoleges that the posts have been read they dont even have to say good idear bad idear not plauseble etc just that it was read why else should we even post in here Thank You Paw Sandberg

Because 1% of good ideas is precious and often needs 99% worth of absolute driveling discussions to create, but has nothing to do with demanding that devs take their time out to reply to everyones personal pet idea. ____________________________________ Taggart wants YOU. Here's an idea. Make another forum. As "new" ideas do popup, the devs respond, lock the thread, & move it to that forum. Then we can see 1 post of each unique idea, with an answer from a dev. then you'd see many fewer "repeated" ideas.... b/c we'd have a suggestion & an answer sitting right there.
Gee, based on the feedback from the devs, we'd maybe spend less time on ideas already debunked, & more on others, & their comments might even lead us into creative directions that would fit their needs more appropriately.
of course, the idea lab is simply a place for us to post, so that we don't send quite so many suggestion petitions, as it requires ppl's time to actually read those.
