Pff Can art is soooo 2006.
If you are cool you make conga line art in 0.0. If you are uber cool you include at least some dreads on the conga line.
If brute force doesn't solve your problem... you are not using enough |

Ahhh once again the **** that CCP come up with. Now cans are spam? What about this guy building a cemetery of cans and he gets left alone, one of my corp mates stuck a few outside our HQ, not affecting anyone and he gets told to move them or else.

Been a long time but probably something like removing anchored cans in .8 and above. Believe me, if I'd have any reason to believe my pipe dreams came true I'd have anchoring of cans last for 48 hours and then explode. Then teleport into your cargo hold and explode again as a reminder.
But seriously (cause everything after the first full stop above wasn't), It's been quite some time since I did that. I'm pretty sure it's happening in Trinity but I might be wrong, I faintly remember pushing for making a decent system out of this which would clean up space after some time interval. Haven't been active enough in pushing that into our expansions I must admit and I haven't coded it either. But believe me, it's one of those wet dreams you never seem to get around to accomplish. One day, one day.
:-P Prism! If loot cans expire after 1 hour, why can't secure cans expire after 6,000? That's quite a bit of time, but keeps it clean after non-use after like--- 7 months. :)

But if you're serious with this I don't want to stand in the way of community activity. Please do me the favour of using Singularity rather than Tranquility if you start making new art for some competition. Cans are less expensive there as well!
For cryin' out loud! Make it so cans expire. If somebody wants to keep their cans, they pay 1 isk per month per can or else it pops. Easy solution!
Someone please explain to me why that wouldn't work.
Try increasing that by a factor of 1000 or more...at least. It really is ridiculous that belts have thousands (in the case of ice fields) of GSC sitting there permanently. Permanent free on-site secure space based storage should not be available. Take out the permanent part at least.

The reason them cans are there in fields are so people can mine securely without the jetcan and worry of getting robbed; they're actually being used for their intended purpose ! People anchor them if they wish to mine across an area for a long time. You can anchor 3 or 4 at nice spots and get complete coverage of the field and have them there later on when the field has re-freshed and you wish to mine it again, saves on the hassle of resetting more cans down each time you want to mine a field out. This works well as long as you have a hauler with you to move the ore as there's enough room in the can and your hulk to take a full cycle before the hauler returns for more. |

Make Secure cans send the owner AND their Corp an evemail for each one each day. Like when a POS is low on fuel. It will also list it's location so they can be found easier.
People will remove them Ultra fast to stop that annoying spam.

Originally by: Iyanah i mean, seriously, guys, GSC mining is wholely inneficient, yet people spam hundreds of the damn things in any system 0.5+
While true, what alternative is there? If a miner uses a Jetcan, and ore gets stolen, the unified reply is "Use a GSC".
Give us (miners) a good alternative to GSC, and they'll vanish. Don't add more hoops to jump through, that only annoys people and doesn't help anyone. (It also doesn't hurt macro miners.)
Many GSCs are anchored for all time because unanchoring it means losing a good spot - you can't just place them anywhere, in 5KM range there has to be nothing. So as soon as you unanchor it, someone else will put his container there and you'll not be able to anchor yours. -------------------------------------------------- I'm a rich person. How I know? I can afford to be a miner. |

Edited by: Ares Lightfeather on 14/11/2007 10:20:10 I propose a corp hangar where people can put ore directly from miner to hauler !
Oh wait, isn't that already in a rorqual ? so it's technically possible.
Or make it possible to consider a hauler as a can in space also solves the problem, and screws ore thief (which is why it won't be implemented).

I personally think can art is a fetid sore on the face of eve. Scratch that, i personally think can art is tacky at best :) It only looks like 'art' from one angle, and mostly just creates lag. I have yet to see a can art display that's actually worth looking at.

One thing that annoys me is that you have no remote control over your cans.
I don't like the idea of having cans floating around in space with my name one them, when I do not use them anymore. But times change and what is your home one day might be a battlefield the next one. I have cans in the drone regions, for example, where I haven't been for 6 months and probably is gonna have a hard time getting to there days. If I could remotely "switch them off", I would.
