I had a thought.. since lasers are having a few issues at the moment i propose that once passed sheilds the targets ship begins to heat up.. with a counter module such as a cooling system for low slots.
Once the ship has heated up to a certain point it then explodes just like EARTH 2150
Anyones opinions?
this will help lasers since they are pretty crappy atm and it will add more dynamics to the game. ---

only problem with that is that lasers chuck energy at very localised positions, so it'd never heat the whole ship up. and if you did that you'd have to look at the difference in heat application to a single point between pulse and beam lasers too.
also, having countermeasure modules only for one "gun" type in game wouldn't be very useful.
interesting idea though.

Well...
These kinds of ideas sound fine but open up all kinds of pandora's boxes...
Know what? Say it already happens. The shields disperse the heat (the ship takes no damage), but eventually lose power (lose hitpoints and drop), the ship's armor starts heating up (you lose armor hp's) but if the ship has automated systems it can counter it with fire extinguishers, liquid nitrogen and the like (you repair armor with armor repairers), but eventually the armor can take no longer and cannot disperse more heat and the hull gets damage, eventually being destroyed.

I loved 2150. I mean, look at my name. 'Tis not just a random number string.
Maybe if/when the devs add heat to the game.

Hehe I dont know if that will happen though, but it sounds interesting.
How about adding the electricity effect of the Electric Cannon (LC) and the Ion Cannon (ED) too then, to disable ships, to make it fair .
Also, I didn't really like 2150 that much, but 2140 and 2160 are really good and I like them a lot.
On a side note, lasers as they are now hurt a lot, and have more raw dps than most other weapons in game. ~Soi ______________________________

I agree, I don't think Amarr need "fixing" so much as just something extra, like a new energy weapon or something, to give us a little more creativity in working on our set-ups

Why do lasers suck? cuz of the high EM resistance on armor.
Simple fix:
Reduce EM resistances across the board!!

Yes, but of course 80% of PVP ships are Omni-Armor tanking preventing them from doing as meaningful of damage as other races.

Since experience has shown me that thermal is one of the lowest tanked damage types, I say they should just add more thermal damage.
