Originally by: Bacchanalian ... That is taking responsibility for oneself, and demonstrates to me a clear example of individuals throwing off the yoke of complacency and dependence and taking an interest in their own self-preservation and advancement in a way I did not see even two weeks ago in this region.
There can be nothing wrong with individuals weaning themselves from their dependences and instead enjoying the freedom that is independence. It is a truly amazing feeling the first time you realize that you don't need someone else to do anything for you, that you yourself are capable.
Now, I'm not convinced by your words. Why do you think that these people which are now "waking up" weren't free prior to that.
All in all I must say the only problem was that they didn't realize it, if anything. But I can't see where CYI was preventing them from that.
By throwing Placid into this state you force the Pilots to adapt. That's as I see it. This isn't free development of ones personal potential. This isn't free at all. But I see you aren't aiming for this.
In summary I don't see the point of SF in this war at all. CYIs Ideology seems not at all conflicting with SFs. To the contrary I would think about it to be complemetary. They are Reformers you are revolutionarys. Or did I miss something?
A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects.

Indeed, you did.
First of all I shall comment your observation that they didn't "realize" that they were free. Fact is, if they don't realize it, they aren't. They were living on the coat-tails of organizations like the Cyrene Initiative, relying always on some organization to keep them safe. They definitely had the means to claim independance, but since they didn't realize the value in doing so they stayed in dependence - they stayed without freedom.
CYI's ideology conflicts with Star Fraction in that they celebrate a culture that creates dependance, territorialism, (sometimes very violent) subjugation, and a rule by the self-serving political classes in a great farce that they call "democracy". (A system that by virtue of it's do-goodery cosmetics is arguably more dangerous and more evil than the obvious repressions of the Amarr feudalism. The evil that is seen as a beacon of good has so greater a power to corrupt the hearts and minds of people.)
By virtue of their loyalty to the federation, and acting with the ambition of being as landlords and police to the common capsuleer in Placid, CYI had placed themselves in direct opposition to the revolution.
And they are now reaping the rewards of what they sowed. That simple.

What revolution? Did I miss an issue of the Scope or something? All I see is two corporate entitys fighting eachother in a derelict region, that realy will not benefit from this. Nor realy be hurt, either.
Take that revolution crap to the toilet, the only thing you can do is boost ship sales by knocking down one or two CYI vessels here and there.
Your not convincing anyone that matters. Your not effecting one aspect of daily life for the Intaki living in Placid. Your not even significantly bringing your "cause" to the public eye of the billions who are forced to live in squalled ghettos on Intaki.

I see that you make some good points there. Still I don't see all the parts fitting. So I hope you doesn't mind if I continue questioning (even if those questions are mostly stated in a declarative manner)?
Originally by: Tatsue Nuko First of all I shall comment your observation that they didn't "realize" that ...
I tend to agree with you on this point. But I'm not sure if this is correct. Still I will take this point as granted with one exeption: I believe most people living in the Federation realize the value of independance and freedom. (Even if they don't realize independance and freedom.)
Originally by: Tatsue Nuko CYI's ideology conflicts with Star Fraction in that they celebrate a culture that creates dependance...
This is where I start to slip away. At first I would like to make a difference between culture and state. I would agree if you say the gallentean state "creates dependance, territorialism, (sometimes very violent) subjugation, and [is] a rule by the self-serving political classes in a great farce that they call "democracy"." If one can make this distinction this "democracy" certainly isn't the idea of an ideal state which is brought forth by the underlying gallantean culture.
Indeed I would fight fiercely for my position that the idea behind the gallantean state is one of free and independent individuals joining together into one community by free will and by this not abandoning their freedom and independence but to further it into a greater and enlightened one.
I think the most dire problem we face is this non-correspondence between the "how the gallantean state should be" and the "how it is". The state we live in is an abomination not because its pretending to be good, but for having the fundament and potential for being something better then everey state before was but not realizing this. In my opinion its sleeping like the people in Placid.
Originally by: Tatsue Nuko By virtue of their loyalty to the federation... CYI had placed themselves in direct opposition to the revolution.
The above stated non-correspondence makes it difficult to judge on which side a "gallente-loyalist" is. But the last words I read from Crausaum make me believe he's on the side which wants to awaken the Gallente and deliver the gallentean state into an enligthened form not by revolution but reform.
I would like to say it with these words: "Enlightenment is man's emergence from self imposed immaturity and dependence for which he himself was responsible. Immaturity and dependence are the inability to use one's own intellect without the direction of another. One is responsible for this immaturity and dependence, if its cause is not a lack of intelligence or education [which can't be the problem for the people of the placid region as far as I've seen], but a lack of determination and courage to think without the direction of another. Sapere aude! Dare to think for yourself! is therefore the slogan of the Enlightenment."
This enlightenment is a good every gallentean citizen should strive for. My hope therefore is that you are mislead to the conclusion that CYI doesn't strive for this enlightenment due to the fact that CYI showed a lack of clear speech and action (for which reasons soever). This would be my question to CYI. Do you see it as your duty to further this sort of enlightenment (as I suppose you would)?
If you wish them to be brothers, have them build a tower. |

You are, of course, more than welcome to fight for that.
However, I would like to point out that the idea behind the Gallentean state is the idea that it is okey for one person to lord over another. Taken to it's essentials, the Federation is no different to the Amarr Empire. Ideals such as freedom and individual independence cannot co-exist with such an evil idea, even if it is layered in the cosmetics of majority opinion.
And if the "idea behind the state" were freedom and individual independence, the idea itself becomes corrupt and internally contradicting since it supports an oxymoron: no government can ever include, allow or foster individual independence, since the very nature of government is a negation of independence.
Thus, it follows, that to be in support of government - any government - in any and all forms is to be in opposition of the individual and her liberty. Judgement of reformist or conformist becomes a very small thing, regardless of the cosmetics applied.

Okay, I've kept quiet on Gal-Net.
But your philosophy is just trash. Without government, might makes right. And, of course, you guys are trying to prove that.
Don't like a government? Don't like the oppressive parts of a culture? Don't like a "meme"? Then try to convince people, work to change it, or just move away. I tried that and it worked just fine.
Or you could bully people around for what they think and what they say. Might as well... It makes your point clearer: Without governments, whoever has the guns makes the laws.

I think it's going to be a long war. Neither of us can force a fight when the other won't commit. Both sides are avoiding combat when outnumbered and outgunned. That's why Star Fraction would not engage last night.

The way we heard it your 13 strong fleet scattered in terror from five of us Yarod. I know we have a fearsome reputation but even so. I think you "held" a system a couple of jumps from our forward base for about five minutes before we scrambled together a couple of battleships and a HAC to drive you back to your docks. At this stage its a bit ludicrous for CYI to talk about "commitment" and "forcing fights" - we've spent the entire week harrassing your agent-runners because your fleet is fundimentally gutless.

Nobody expects you to fight if you're heavily outnumbered. Such would be folly. Do you truly expect us to throw ships and lives away pointlessly?
What we witness however, is many of your pilots seemingly pretending there is no war and that your ideals are not on the line. Caught alone, returning from a mission errand, or simply moving without support or communication.
Star Fraction's strength is that every one of our pilots are dedicated to our cause and are in space actively seeking to engage your ships, your strength and your ideology head-on.
I understand that in relative peacetime, many of your pilots drift in pursuit of their own goals. So do ours, but this is not peacetime: Bring the fight lest it seem that your convictions are incomplete.

Your turned back in a matter of minutes like frightened children at the approach of a lone scout ship Yarod. You started running when Star Fraction undocked and kept running until your fleet fell to pieces and individual captains docked and abandoned the muster. Tip-toeing up to our front door and playing "knock-down-ginger" only to run away in terror the moment a Merlin scouts your fleet is not going to win you much praise and plaudits from campaign veterans.

Wheras, with goverment, they have the biggest guns, and they make the rules. Sounds much the same to me.
Those who claim space, whether they attempt to coat their claims in a veneer of respectability or not are one and the same: gangsters, who deny you your freedom and 'only' require your obedience.
You owe them nothing. Reclaim your freedom, stop apologising for a rotten system which exists to hold you down, embrace the power that being a capsuleer gives you and strike back at those who would shackle mankindÆs potential.

Your action reports are almost as bad as your talk about freespace and oppression. Have you ever known anything but privilege and freedom? Take it from a tube child who ran up against the megacorps, your talk about the "oppressive" Federation is garbage.
And so are your battle reports:
Quote:
While shortly afterwards pilot Wrayeth went on to lose his own Crow interceptor to a Team Javelin bait and kill from a Jaguar class Assault frigate backed by a Scorpion class Battleship.
Wrong. I took the chance to sneak into Stacmon and get my battleship out. We wanted more firepower and some ECM in our gang as we hunted IU. I beat Wrayeth's interceptor out of Stacmon and through Aidart. He caught me in Cistuvaert, and I was able to call in my wife in her Jaguar as backup.
You're either getting bad reports from pilots or you don't care about telling lies. And the stakes in this fight are high, so don't expect us to wait around to fight at your convenience.

no.
Intaki Union fights fair odds and even when we are a bit out gunned. That is the main reason for what losses we have taken. We fight and we don't mind if we lose a few ships as long as we blast Federation supporters into dust.
Star Fraction I have also seen fight equal and even slightly out gunned. Sometimes massively out-gunned. They have the stamina for it.
Your claims are just plain wrong and anyone who can read a kill board can see the various large fleet battles that have taken place and compare numbers and ship types.
Don't write fiction that can easily be disproved by reviewing kill boards Yarod. I have to assume you are out of touch with your alliance mate's choices because you've never been one to spin lies, perhaps Team Javelin will fight a fair fight, but Ixion and Red Eclipse are gaining quite the reputation for the run, smack, disconnect tactic.
In fact just the other day Brazzle claimed he had to attend some Gallente harlot, one of his girlfriend he said, and wouldn't be back. I waited and sure enough after a short disconnection of his pod-interface back he came stabbed up and running fast. Either his attentions to that female Gallente were laughably short or possibly he has been trying the tactic your entire alliance in attempting regularly. Disconnections will just be the death of you, as the boards are showing.
last time it was shuttle dumping, now it is pod-disconnection... my suggestion to all CYI is you actually fight rather than try to find tricks in your ship interface controls. If you fight you will get kills, if in no way other than drowning our pilots in the piles of your corpses. If you resort to playing games and never committing to an offensive with any risk, you have already lost and the rest of this war will just be putting you down like a zombie that doesnÆt quite know its dead yet for all the leaking brain matter dribbling out.

I think this is a mix up of times. I can not find the incident of Wrayeth loosing a crow anytime recently. And Tomahawk referred to an event which happened last night specificly. You might be thinking of some other time or a dream. I was on last night with the only 3 other pilots including someone flying a deadly Merlin. 4 versus 13 seemed like almost fair odds. With the chance to engage Cyrene. By the time we rubbed our eyes and checked our ears hearing of undocked ships, we jumped in ships, and flew out you scattered your 13 man fleet of half battleships. I flew to pursue even though intelligence reports said most if not all had gone planetside.
But this is all details of combat, killboard references, and so on. I will let Jade summarize the details of the campaign when her next installment of the diary is published. She does a much better job than I could ever attempt.
Persoanlly, I feel confident in my abilities and curent state during the war. I have done a greater good and continue towards the shared goals of Star Fraction pilots.

of that i have no doubt, you aren't some slime. in fact your complaints and derision is surprising because through all the warfare, both past and present, you and yours have always maintained a caliber of professionalism unlike many of those in your alliance.
I will post an image if you like of a field of shuttles your alliance mates dumped and dumped and dumped to try and cause the harmonics of the entry gate to resonate in such a fashion that all of our pod interfaces would respond sluggish at best and disconnect at worst.
lucky for us a Polaris concord agent was able to clear the cowardly attempt. I doubt Polaris though can keep your men from disconnecting.
And I know the comments werenÆt to me, but they were plain false and since I am involved I do actually see what Star Fraction does and though of course they arenÆt going to take one solo ship against fifteen they certainly will fight equal odds with out question.

This is what I'm planning to do. Yet if one wants to succeed in fighting the proper preparations have to be done. I'm still trying to discern who I will have to oppose and who will be at least a potential ally. Fighting alone is for fools.
I see that your point is that freedom and individual independence are not consistent with any concept of government and therefore state.
Still if I'm right CYI is not per se dedicated to the state and government but more to the idea of a community of free and independent individuals. (I'm a bit disappointed CYI hasn't responded to my above question and verifyed this. Mr.Cools statements unfortunately aren't helpful in this regard.) Maybe their belief that this is not conflicting with the concept of state and/or government in one form or the other makes it necessary to fight them. I would not happily accept this necessity.
Anyhow thanks for your elucidations. I've come to find them both helpful and intellectual stimulating.

Jasmine i truly like your quote about hasseling our agent runners because you assume or fleet is gutless.
First off you war dec us.Its not our fault your intel is basically useless. You think we have some massive fleet roaming around all the time lol.The pvp part of our corp is deadly but not the numbers you think it is.You will be engaged when the small group feels like it.Maybe after some tv or in between yawns. But it will be when we feel like it not you.

Fine by us. We'll keep killing your loners until they quit your flag. If your fleet wants to hide thats your look-out.

Edited by: Takakura Hirohito on 23/01/2007 04:15:41 The hypocrites of the Star Fraction amaze me. I notice none of them responded to my post a page ago. They dont want to admit they are in fact hypocrites and liars who are simply violent driven pod pilots. To claim free captain status yet deny the right of others to chose to support an empire is the height of hypocracy. No one is forced to live in the Caldari state, the Gallente Federation, or anywhere else. When I last traveled from the Kingdom to the Federation I wasnt stopped and asked for papers. I came and went at will as a free person may. Yet these hypocrites from Star Fraction wish to attack all national entities while claiming they're freeing us. The truth is they are liars led by their ruler executor who is the now banished spin queen of eve. People choose to live in these empires and be governed by these nationalistic ideals. That choice is the true free captain decision and to have these Star Fraction hypocrites claim to attack everyone to free them proves them the hypocrites and liars they are.

Quote: First of all I shall comment your observation that they didn't "realize" that they were free.
How do you know they're not free? Who told you they arent? Or is Star Fraction some kind of freedom police running around killing everyone who doesnt embrace their concept of freedom. If that is the case doesnt that make Star Fraction nothing more than hypocrites? People choose to live like they do they're not forced. What gives you the right to bring your life to them. Hypocrites of the first order. Freedom is ok with the Star Fraction as long as its their type of freedom.
