Curious about how to calculate the cycle time effects of Ice Harvester Upgrades. The Tech I gives a 5% reduction in cycle time and the TEch II gives a 9% reduction in cycle time. Seems simple enough.
However, how do you calculate the effect if ...
1) You stack two of them? Are two Tech I IHUs equal to a 10% reduction and two Tech II equal to an 18% cycle time reduction? 2) Do stacking penalties come into play here? 3) is the 5% reduction (for one tech I) off the base cycle time (600 seconds for a tech I harvester) or after all other cycle time modifications are considered? So, do I subtract 30 seconds from the derived cycle time or reduce the derived cycle time (from skill bonues, etc) by 5%?

As far as I know, all the upgrades are applied without stacking penalties, but they are cumulative, not added and then applied. So if you have two 9% bonuses and one 5% bonus and a base value of 600, the formula would be: 600 * 0.9 * 0.9 * 0.95. |

I don't recommend putting laser upgrades on a Mackinaw, because then you cannot fit any mids (other than Civilian shield Boosters), or cargo expanders.
I typically fit and rig a Mackinaw for 12,000 m-¦ for 3 full cycles of ice, using 2x cargo optimization rigs + 1 expanded cargo. With max skills it is 17m 35s to fill.
Cycle time = Base Cycle TIme * 1.25 Mackinaw Penalty * (1 - Exhumers Skill * 0.05) * (1 - Ice Harvesting Skill * 0.05) * (1 - 0.09)^Number_of_Ice_Harvester_II_Upgrades
Any other bonuses, like implant or gang link bonus, are applied the same: multiply.
Example: * Ice Harvesting 5 * Exhumers 5 * Ice Harvesters II (base cycle time is 500) * No IHU
Cycle time = 500 * 1.25 * (1 - 5 * 0.05) * (1 - 5 * 0.05) = 351.5625s = 5m 52s |

As those above have stated it is cumulative.
Lets look at the Mackinaw. The only bonus that applies to ice mining is the portion below.
Exhumers Skill Bonus: 5% reduction in Ice Harvester duration per level.
Role Bonus: 100% bonus Ice Harvester yield but 25% penalty to ice harvester duration Able to equip Strip Miner and Ice Harvester turrets.

This is a ehh, ok for a bot miner. Holds 2 cycles not worried about how long your sitting there.
I use this with my Max Orca pilot.
NOTE: I am not using any of the mining implants.

So make your decision from that. You have hauling, with slow cycles or fast cycles or a dedicated hauler boosting. |

43 units of ice per hour wtih 251 sec duration for hulk 49 units of icer per hour with 291 sec duration for mackinaw
hulk has 10.7k ehp mackinaw has 6.3k ehp change the rigs and the difference is larger
