Edited by: Hakera on 06/12/2003 17:44:43 I too have a lot of hope for the future. The last 2 months were painful to say the least. We went through the "Dark Age" where CCP stopped talking and that hit us all hard.
We have not seen a major patch in as many months and Aurora events were few and far between.
I see now that we are passing through the dark age and into the proverbial renaissance. I fully expect things to get very exciting as we go through 2004.
With an expected and hoped marketing campaign by CCP and an the influx of new players, the Castor and Shiva ages will make Eve a very exciting place to be.

Yeah - must admit that I've been wondering at the lack of T2 info considering how close it is to implementation.
Maybe they just want everybody to start out at the same level of knowledge - totally clueless

From a marketting point of view, the best thing they could do is to put Castor in a box, call it an official expansion, and charge for it (but mostly do it for the shelf space).
I'd pay for it, to see the changes, but like I said before, I won't pay to wait till it's out, debugged, balanced, and positively reviewed by a few sites.

Will you people please stop talking about boxes, CCP has seen the light. The boxes didnÆt work for the initial release so why would it work for an expansion? Who will pay for an expansion to a game that offers what the first release was suppost to offer other than the people who already have the game? not to mention the fact that if they made it an expansion they'd need to get in another distributor which would just cause the same issues S&SI did, your suppost to learn from your mistakes so not to repeat them. CCP is much better off keeping it all in house, online distribution is (in my book) the most significant thing they have done, even more important than castor (when it comes), This way they donÆt have to many people at the table pulling them every which way but loose. Also Castor from everything IÆve seen on the forums seems to be more or less finished. So how long do you think it would take for CCP to find and make a deal with a distributor? And how long do you think it would take that distributor to package the game and get it in the stores? And going by the games previous sales and how many stores took it off the shelves how much do you think that deal will be worth? My opinion (for whatever its worth) is that it's not really worth all the trouble charging for something that was suppost to be free, and I think it would be bad business releasing an expansion for EVE when there is still stuff in the instruction manual that is not in the game yet, and still wouldnÆt be in the game even with the expansion.

Yep lost 2 players in my corp last week they said the same thing. They were not really active because they were tired of waiting.

FWIW from this total newbie, I wouldn't be here playing were it not for CCP finally releasing a downloadable client. I agree that boxing up a patch and calling it an expansion pack just for the sake of some shelf space isn't an idea that I think would work.
But then again, I'm not a marketer so what do I know?

Boxing up a patch and releasing it as an expansion is whats commonly known as "EA Standard Operating Procedure"
