It just takes time for the gate to power up. You gotta stay on the gate for 5 minutes before it'll power up enough to let you through. Its a little buggy sometimes and you might have to warp out and back and try again several times.

On the extreme off chance this is serious: carriers can't use gates and can't enter high sec.
...Unless you offline all mods and wait from downtime to downtime after hitting jump. |

Serious answer:
You need Nitrogen Isotopes and an alt/friend in fleet to light a Cynosural Field to jump it to. Cynos cannot be lit in high-sec or incursion systems.

A 50 : 50 mix of the real premium--94 pump-octane--and VP100 will do ya juuuuust fine in any/all situations.
(Oh, and this thread is now officially about hi-perf engines, and the proper care/feeding thereof  )
