Now you see, I always RP a crush with Diana Kim because it's simply funny. I'm careful not to take it too far though, I'm creepy enough in RL. A hard-headed androgynous 5th Dragonaur zealot being hit on by an Intaki provides an avenue for lols. Little things like that. Once she almost broke my arm, because I wanted to hold her hand while she was asleep. I was just sitting at her bed. I was too tired to fly home so I just stayed at her place. She's actually really cute when she's asleep, but the sexual repression she's suffering from is insane! Our products are delivered via contract from our Jita depot and yes sir, they are something.

To return to the topic at hand, RP in EVE is largely sequestered away in different chat channels. IGS and OOC are typically hubs where you meet other roleplayers and from there find your way to other channels relevant to your interests. Only times I've seen RP happening in local is typically in some low sec FW systems and during live events, altough typically its drowned out by a hundred of other people asking "wtf is going on lol." |

Capsuleers are meant to be at least a little bit insane, you can explain away almost everything we do and say by pointing at Capsuleers disconnectedness from regular humanity. |

1) Said loss was a considerable time ago, back before I even knew gankers were that big of a problem in the game now. There was a time when there wasn't whole alliances dedicated to making high sec a hunting ground.
2) I remember the gank clearly and it happened so fast that I didn't get a chance to react. You can't do a thing when several ships warp directly to you and blow you up in less than 10 seconds. I was there, and by the time I saw them warp in it was already too late. After learning more about ganker tactics now I assume someone else who came into the belt before acted as a scout and marked my location. CODE didn't check to see if I was AFK or ask me for proof of a permit. They just killed me for the lulz and moved on.
I've come a long way since then and am much more prepared now. I fly safer ships, I am more observant of local, and I trust no one. This game has taught me that you have to be a certain degree of paranoid to survive if you are on your own. But I am learning more every day. Losses like that will not be likely to occur again. |

Ganking isn't a big problem at all, no matter how much propaganda is filling the people's minds.
And you don't need to fly safer ships. People who use skiffs or procurers for mining don't get the point of
what is going on at all. People simply chose not to learn being active and instead took the easy way out by tanking.
I've been using orca+three covetors when I did my research into the field and haven't been ganked once,
simply because I don't play afk and know how to make sure I can not be ganked at all.
It seems weird, but when you use tanky ships to mine you actually do exactly what they want,
instead of using a full yield setup, bookmarks and constant alignment while moving through the belt.
Your fault was to not doing it right, as in: denying the ability to attempt a gank in the first place.
No tank will save you when you just sit there, not ready to warp out within a few seconds.
Yeah it's absolutely doable.
I've cleaned belts in Hala... Himala... **** lol ... the birth place (!) of the new order.
When I saw cats warping in I warped my fleet out within a second.
Perfectly safe. That's how it's done, because tanking does not help in the long run,
but instead is exactly how they want you to behave.
This is especially true for ice miners, btw.
