Actual: ~~~~~~~
Today i thought about a problem. If i got for example science lvl 5 (25% lower BP copytime) it will cost me about 6 days to get from 3 to 5 (lvl). A char with lvl 3 (about 4-5 hours to train it) will get 15%. If we take about 7 days for a copy that means i need 5.25 days with lvl 5, a char with lvl 3 needs 5.95 days. In hours the delay is only about 17 hours. not that much if u think about 6 days for training the skill. I think u could apply this example to many other skills.
One thing that let me train a skill to lvl 5 is if i need it to get another but that is actual not very often.
Idea: ~~~~~
So if u give a player that advances to level 5 in a skill an additional bonus (i didn't think about what bonus) it would make more sense training a skill to level 5.
What are ur opinions plz let me know :).

I'd assume that in future there will be "Advanced" versions of the skill that require Level 5 as a prerequisite.

Don't think they will implement any more skills.. there are many many skills on the market. I couldn't imagine that there will be in a couple of weeks many more skills. I only expect some skills that are available throughout charcreation but not buyable. ---------- Mimic - Director of the PAIN Syndicate

I expect there to be many more skills available. Mainly, like that other guy said, advanced versions of many current skills, advanced stat boosters, adv. navigation, adv. mining, etc.
Maybe not all of them will be improved, but most of them could still be taken further. .

atm eve has 167 different skills.
97 are on the open market yet. so expect about 70 new skills that will come over the time.

Some skills already have a following skill, like drones (drone interfacing) or refining (refining effeciency).
But not all, & I doubt all will. Some following skill do not require Lvl5, like the ship skills (frig-> cruiser: lvl4 frig). So, nobody in hisright mind would learn frig5, it simpy give way too little for the time invested. (But *please* don't take this as a hint to rise the requirement to cruiser from lvl4 frig to lvl5 frig, it would take that way literary ages (2-3) weeks to learn lvl5 so you can learn crusier and 1-2 months for battleship)
Perhaps reduce the leanring time for lvl5 a little bit? To 66% or 50% of the previous time?

Hmm think Hierophant is the only one here who understand what i tried to explain. I think there is no reason why someone should learn a skill to level 5 most time. I said there are skills that are worth but most aren't worth that. and the 70 skills that are incoming... first i think it will be about 2-3 months before all these skills will be available second that solves not the problem. So one last try to explain: Why should someone learn lvl 5 in a skill if the advantage isn't that big that it is equal to learning time ? because level 5 would give u a little extra bonus or something like this!

p.s. hope u guys understood what i mentioned ---------- Mimic - Director of the PAIN Syndicate

Only thing i can imagine is that CCP thought out the skills well, and if they make a change to it the further updates wouldnt be much of a use... Also you invest 7 days in a skill, but having a year profit from that skill wouldnt equalize it... You have to look over a large time, not on short time based what the skill can mean for you... Hell maybe it even gets an important skill in the future because CCP changed some things. __________________________

What about the items which have not yet entered into the game? For instance, those items with a higher tech level may require a higher skill to operate. I think if I remember correctly in one of the previous betas, the high tech level items actually required higher than normal skill ratings to operate such devices.
If this isnÆt going to be the case, perhaps a bonus to achieve a level 5 skill is it becomes locked in at that level and isnÆt lost even through death?
Just some thoughts.

Mimic you¦re totally right. It would be great if the skills would give you an additional bonus at level 5.
I think it would be even better if the skills would give you a bigger bonus with higher levels. Take science as an example:
level 1: 5% increase level 2: 7% increase level 3: 10% increase level 4: 14% increase level 5: 18% increase
something like that. So you would end up with a bonus of 54% in this case. OK that¦s a bit too much but you get the idea :) IMO that would really make up for the training. Why waste 10 days training for level5 if the bonus you get isn¦t really worth it?
