So what is your goal (for now)? What are you doing or going to do (fow now)? Why did you start playing EVE? What are your plans?
What is your EVE wet dream?
I wanna be in a big fleet battle someday, and win it, preferably. But right now I'm doing some missions for the LP to buy some replacement ships to continue practicing PvP.
But with citadels coming up I'm already imagining having one with my small corp, like a proper base/hideout, and defend it etc.

Huge fleet battles, done em.
Running pos towers, done.
Right now i'm haunting a section of lowsec and interrupting the sleepy PVE of smug, lazy people who've never been more than 10 jumps from hisec in 5 years of playing.
I'm thinking now of a 20 to 40 strong group with comms that deploys to random npc null and FW lowsec to just change the weather. Kinda common i know but can be great fun as the locals are as risk averse as any in eve, yet aren't risk savvy, which can mean losses up to caps.

On topic: Later this year our corporation will probably build a Citadel.
At the moment we are in the process of building some Capitals to fly. For fun. Because we can.

Here I used to have a sig of our old Camper in space. Now it is disregarded as being the wrong format.

Run missions then loot and salvage. Turn the salvage into rigs. Buy implants with LP. Fill up my hauler travel back to Amarr, sell the loot, rigs and implants, then repeat.
Mix in some High and Low Sec exploration for fun. I think I'll be moving more to Low Sec exploration.
May be in six months train up Logi and run incursions.
If, and I stress the if, I join another null sec corp, I'll train up a forced recon and run patrols to protect corp mates instead of ratting.

My method is going to be soooo much better than the bounty hunting system CCP has in place.

There is no real goal for me, at least no 'long-term' goals. Never really has been. It's just a case of login, enjoy new experiences, meet fun new people (or their characters), try new things and enjoy more good fights or tragic welps, roleplay and forum shitposting every day. It's like an always ongoing, ever-evolving story with no real goals for the player. EVE is awesome for an open-ended experience.

That was actually Erica's life goal once.
Didn't quite work out though and a lot of people had to die.
She has a rather strong maternal instinct. I guess it's still her goal if she ever retires.

This includes mission items that can only be obtained through contracts or doing the missions myself. I also try to collect items that are no longer generated in the game, however, these are rare and command high prices.

RVB was a good second, but E-Uni is the white whale. Frankly I think we missed the opportunity for that at this point. The ideal time would have been when kelduum revaan was in charge and they were at maximum beariness.

My old goal was to build a corp, with good friendships while having fun blowing up pixels. But like used to, biased and stupid ignorance changes comes around that destroys years of investment. So these days i set goals in rl and invest my time in that.
Tl:dr: Don't invest goal time in spazespixels, especially with the history of ccp caring in mind.
Tl:dr @ccp: 4 years to fix tech was too long and killed the top alliance gameplay and corporation fun.

NPCs would be characters in the Doomhiem corp and instead of sites, they would just spawn randomly to attack the account holders that deleted them . Oh and unlike the last event they drop actual interesting things...

NPCs would be characters in the Doomhiem corp and instead of sites, they would just spawn randomly to attack the account holders that deleted them . Oh and unlike the last event they drop actual interesting things...

First of all, have a big galactic war that screws up the systems secstanding, make it fluctuate everyday... make it nullsec oneweek... highsec the NeXT...

Have a few UBER HISEC, where all weapons on ships og offline when entering system. (Even more players will become pissed)
And remove the SOV completely and let the "NPC Population" decide if a alliance can keep its controll decided upon if they have provided the system With Resources and goods the NPC population needs... Ergo, every systems needs to be worked to keep "ownership" of "system". (That would **** of the big "selfproclaimed" region owners" cuz it will remove their "rentfee" for something they dont own anyways)

My goal?
That's a very good question.
My goal when I came to Eve was to be a space pirate. I did that till I was -10.
Then my goal became to fly in the really huge, shiny fleets in the Sov wars. I did that and participated in some of the biggest battles Eve has ever seen, helped build a player empire larger and more powerful than the NPC empires.
Literally the end game of the empire building sandbox. Done that. CCP had to basically use dev hax to break our grip on null sec.
So where to go now? What do you do once you've 'won' Eve Online? Especially since CCP decided that winning their game was bad and fairly well ensured that such epic space drama will never happen again.
Despite it's warts, it's TiDi, it's sitting on a Titan for an hour for no kills....Dom Sov was obviously fun because thousands of us showed up to every battle.
My goal was seeing where building a huge empire in a sandbox would lead- but that was essentially castrated by FozzieSov, which artificially shook the etch-a-sketch then broke off one of the knobs.
Like a lot of sov guys that enjoyed massive fleets and epic warfare- Eve is suddenly a much more hollow experience for me. Many of us have left sov because the simple truth is that FozzieSov effectively killed sov as a premier mechanic in the game. People are drifting away looking for somethiing remotely as interesting as running a galaxy spanning empire.
I considered selling everything but a Tengu and go get lost in the WH network.
But to be blunt- my goal in Eve right now is to find something fun to do to keep me subscribed.

This whole thread makes me think of Progod back when he joined 101st. We joined about the same time and people gave him a little rough time for his last name. But he indicated early on he wanted to be a great FC. So when i think of players that have a goal and follow it through, I think of him.

As a 12 year vet (close enough) When i first started in eve my goal was to have fun with my friends.
my two friends ditched me for CLS, so my next goal became to learn to how to run a corp.
Then while in CLS my next goal became to make my own alliance
Then as the founding member of the Brotherhood(space)space)Of(space)(space)Steel alliance (yes the spaces were rediculus, the other founders wanted it that way..) my goal became to build up
Then when i retook control of the alliance after my honeymoon, it became to gain a constalation in null
Then when we were having issues securing the Kari pipe as UK fell to CVA, it became to not die
Then when i got an offer to move to Catch and be an IAC pet, it became to control my own constellation.
Then when i owned the Z-UZZN stantion and that constalation in Qurious, it became forcing all the other petting alliances there to bed the god damn knee to me
Then when bob came in and steam rolled us, and a blue set us red and the alliance collapsed, it became not lose everything i got currently
Then while in HS, it became rebuild my corp
Once that was done, it becaome live and make isk in wormholes
Then make a new alliance
then with The Last Brigade was around, it became own my own system...
and the cycle contenued.
ATM my goal is to build up isk. But i'm not very motivated and i'm waititng for citadels to do my next goal.
isn;t eve grand?

On a day to day basis my goal typically is to blow up 100m isk or more, and to earn 100m isk or more. See it as a form of sustainable farming. If my time is short I'l typically go for unsustainable and simply blow stuff up. |

It's a story that stretches almost a year. Maybe I'll blog about it one day or share the tale with you over a coffee.
Suffice to say my former-friend dishonored me and my family. That generally doesn't end well for people and so we took leave from corporate duties and went to war with him, his family and his alliance to restore our honour. Still the best adventure I've had so far in EVE and it provided unique content for dozens of pilots; we spared no expense and it's not often people find themselves in the midst of protracted wars or evictions all for RP and the fury of a woman scorned.

From the beginning:
Fly a battleship - check
Own a faction battleship - check
Be able to fly all the variants of the Thorax - Check
Get into some pvp - check (thank you 2009 Faction Warfare)
Join a Corporation - check
Go check out null - check (liked it, stayed there for the most part)
Learn to FC - Check though horrible at it.
See a Titan - check (the 1st one i ever saw DD'd my whole fleet, back when DDs meant something not this young whippersnapper DD they have now)
Get and be able to fly a capital -check
Fight in a big war -check, check and check lol.
So all of that is done, was done a long time ago, now i get to enjoy tinkering with fits and methods and new ways to kill npcs while not getting killed by people. I guess you can call that last part an ongoing goal. |
