The same thing that happens when any skill training completes: nothing, until you set a new skill.

Edited by: Sergeant Smiley on 23/01/2007 21:40:28 Then why does eve-mon Warn you when a skill will finish during a downtime?
Do people really care that they might miss 1 hour of training time?

maybe because skills are real time? the XML doesn't know when the scheduled DT is.

I panic when I miss 1 minute of training time! The problem is though, quite often you'll say "Oh the server is down, I'll just train it again when it comes back up, but first.. I'll weave a basket underwater." Next thing you know it's 6 hours later and you've missed all that training time. -- Lil Miner Newbie Skills Roadmap | How to Build from a BPO |

OMG, yes.
Though it's got to be said that often we're talking about more than an unscheduled hour or two. So like they always say, train long skills during downtimes, kids. * * * In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

It used to be worse in the distant past when downtime could suddenly turn into "downday-or-two" and you were REALLY hitting yourself for forgetting to change skills.
It's still sensible to swap to longer skills whenever the server is going down though (scheduled or otherwise). ---

You would be really chocked what a lot of the eve players would go through to ensure their training time is not lost.. Some rises up from bed in the middle of the night. Someone leaves or arrives at work too early. Someone have sleepless nights thinking about skills... But then, a lof of us are eveholics

You should do a search for "I WANT MY TWO CENTS BACK CCP WTF YOU MORONS" threads or some such about people who whine due to the DT and their skill training finished during it.
Its funny. --------------

Yes, I have been there. Try doing this during a business trip, and your coworker is sitting next to you listening to you walk your wife through logon and skill change:
"okay select ScreaminJay, open character sheet...no ignore the blinking inbox....yes, gunnery skills...hold on, they're calling my flight....NO DON'T UNDOCK!....okay, select Large Hybrid...thank you, honey...I owe you one.

You lose... (all the training time until you start a new skill to training)
Remember, good prior planning means you never have worry about not having something training... too bad there is not a way to preload the next skill in the hopper... yet (hint hint hint)
Noob in training...

That, my friend, is hilarious. You're lucky your significant other will do it. I don't think that my gf would do it. She thinks that EVE is more than a little geeky. Of course, she's wrong. Right?

thank god for skills like frig 5/cruiser 5/battleship 5/jump drive op 5/etc they covered a lot of hours of work, vacation, moving, pc issues, etc
so I didn't need to instruct my wife how to log on and change a skill.... then again, she'd still be logging on by the time I got home, she can barely manage her email id
I have however instructed my 14yr old to do it, rather painlessly...

Ya, one minute you're thinking "oh, hurricane over europe, i'm sure it will have no effect on my internet connection whatsoever" and the next one you're talking a loved one through the process of setting Cruiser V for you because your power went out
