Originally by: Jimmy Ray Running pretty gorram up to date machine (quad core, 4gb ram, 8800gtx, vista enterprise etc etc). Seems to randomly crash from anything from 5 minutes to several hours. Mostly when I undock or try and actually *do* something other than talking in channels. Prior to Trinity, it was all peachy and life was good. Excellent in terms of content, but golly gee whiz guys...stability?
Me too. Exact same symptom. The crashes usually seem to happen when I click on somthing, like a gate to jump through it. Sometimes it can run for hours with no problem but sometimes it crashes after 20 minutes. I'm glad I'm not alone.
It's only the EvE application which crashes so it can't be heat related like some of the other crashes seem to be.
My specs: 3.0 GHz Intel Dual core, 4 GB Ram, 8800 GTS, Vista Home premium (64-bit edition)
I have only tried the premium client so far. I will revert to the older client and give that a try.
I believe there are several different crashing issues going on, but I would get the random crash on Vista with my Q6600, 3gigs, and 8800gts 320, sometimes (but not always) getting an error afterwards mentioning DEP. Would usually happen when just entering warp, but sometimes would happen if I was just sitting at a gate. Also happens to me in trinity 1.0.1. So far the solution for me seems to be to simply have shadows off in premium. I realize that this isn't desirable, but given the alternative....shadows off with no crashes seems appealing. Been running fine for a few days now since I've made the change, whereas before I would last maybe a few hours before it would happen. Monitoring temps also indicates that it's not a heat issue, and only EVE would crash, my system would be fine otherwise.
Just to be expressly clear, here are my settings Dither off Advanced on Window mode 24-bit color 1152x864 24 bit z buffer interval immediate Everything checked under Common Graphics Settings except widescreen Premium enabled Shadows off HDR off Cache size high
HDR/AA is on through nHancer and looks great. =)
Hope this helps.
