Hello. Im back to eve after 6y break. I joined FW, and I really like it. My tactic is simple, i roam low sec and trying to find 1v1 fight in novices/small plex (i found this is the fastest way to find 1v1 fight, maybe there is a faster/better way??)
I wonder what ships are the best for solo pvp around plexes (attack other ppl doing plex) and What is the best fit type (that gives me the biggest engagment profile) for attack others in plexes when they dictate an initial range.
I played for example MWD+long point tristan, and it was great when I was sitting inside the plex and waited for the enemy. But not so great when I attacked someone in the plex.
I want to apologize for my English, I'm still learning |

I think you should first determine how you want to engage targets. If you like doing the kiting thing then figure out a good kiting fit. Like the Tristan,.If you wanna brawl at close range then find a fit for that. Every setup is going to have an achilles heel making the concept of a best ship moot. Pick how you want to fighf and then try to approach each engagement with your weaknesses in mind. Don't try to warp in on a plex on top a a brawler that can point you as soon as you land on the beacon. The opposite also applies. I know from experience that engaging everything will usually end in you dying in a fire. But FW plexes have been good to me for finding fights. |

Thanks for answer Snezz.
I know pvp in Eve is more complicated than simply choosing the best ship and fit.
I just need something to start with. So im looking for ship and fit that gives me the biggest engagment profile.

Biggest engagement profile imo would be any properly fit frigate if you are positioned tactically, ie already setup inside a plex and a fast kitey fit if you're going into an occupied plex as it gives more options to get into range.
Better advice: grab a dozen brawlers or kitey ships and see which type you like to fly then build on that. Once you get proficient you can start branching out into other styles. Remember to take fights your fit us capable of handling and not fights for the lols.

Here are some of the best ships in my opinion for being engaging and still performing.
- Federation Navy Comet - They can sport a massive hull tank with decent dps and active rep. Running either rails or blasters - very powerful ship. In my opinion one of the most well rounded ships to fly.
- Hookbill - Does not have the same raw power as the Comet but it can still be formidable. Has great projection with rockets and light missiles alike - but if you want to fit a tank the same level as a Comet you will have to sacrifice some of your flexibility. Great potential for fitting it in multiple ways and using its E-War slots.
- Republic Firetail - Blend between the previous two - I don't fly it enough to know in which ways it is severely different. But it can still be fit as a solid brawler or a kite ship.
- Breacher - Nice speed, good tank and decent mid slots. Bonus being rockets allowing you to get better range on blaster fits.
- Kestrel - Very flexible ship with decent raw stats and ewar potential.
- Slasher - Fast, low sig and a nice count of mid slots.
- Tristan - Probably the strongest of the Tech 1 frigates. Has the most flexible envelope of engagement, can be fit with Neuts, blasters, rails or anything else. Drones project and track well, applying solid dps with selectable damage types. Can kite effectively or brawl decently.
On principle I wouldn't fly the worm because of how absurdly broken it is.

Scram kite Comet is pretty solid though you get less fights than if you fly something like a scram kite Rifter or another T1 frigate. |

1MN Monopropellant Enduring Afterburner J5b Phased Prototype Warp Scrambler I X5 Prototype Engine Enervator Medium Ancillary Shield Booster, Navy Cap Booster 50
Light Ion Blaster II, Void S Light Ion Blaster II, Void S Light Ion Blaster II, Void S

Navy Cap Booster 50 x18 Void S x480 Null S x360
220 DPS cold, which is great on a T1 frig. With lower gunnery skills still around 200 DPS 3526 EHP, resists EM 51/ Therm 60,8/ KIN 58/ EXPLO 65 (two EM rigs gets thermal at 44% resist, so one EM, one therm) 996 m/s cold which isn't bad, scram has no effect on your speed at least. Cheap price tag at around 5mil for ship+fit

Hello OP,
I'm in a somewhat similar situation to you. Recently came back to the game and decided to try FW PVP.
I prefer to fly kitey fits to avoid or outpilot blobs. I haven't been at it long but I've been flying a lot of kite Condors and so far I love them. I've learned a lot so far in this little ship.
Arbalest Compact Light Missile Launcher Arbalest Compact Light Missile Launcher Arbalest Compact Light Missile Launcher
Balmer Series Tracking Disruptor Balmer Series Tracking Disruptor 5mn Cold-Gas Enduring Microwarpdrive Warp Disruptor II
Nanofiber Internal Structure II Ballistic Control System II
Small Polycarbon Engine Housing I Small Polycarbon Engine Housing I Small Bay Loading Accelerator I
With my below average skills I get 3.8km/sec, 1k EHP, 65 dps (520 dps volley) and a 36km light missile range.
Obviously fit T2 LM's when you have the skills but you will need CPU Upgrades to V, otherwise you'll have to use implants to make it all fit.
You will die to anything that looks at you the wrong way so pick your fights carefully.
Costs about 6 mil fully fit. |

Edit:
Since you're Gallente, I figured i'd post one of the fits i'm working towards...
Kite Tristan
Medium Azeotropic Restrained Shield Extender 5mn Y-T8 Compact Microwarpdrive Warp Disruptor II
Drone Damage Amplifier II Drone Damage Amplifer II Nanofiber Internal Structure II
Small Core Defense Field Extender I Small Core Defense Field Extender I Small Anti-EM Screen Reinforcer I
8x Light Drones
Can't tell you the details off the top of my head because I haven't flown it (yet) but I hear good things.
Only thing that bothers me about this fit is that drones can be killed, and they're commonly targetted when you're fighting other kitey ships such as the Condor fit I posted above or Navy Slicers.
Also about 6 mil to fit.
Hey there,
I'm also a new player getting into Fw solo pvp. I have injected 27 million SP into relevant frig pvp skills, specifically into missikes/rockets. I've been following a modified version of Suitonias kestrel build: it's basically extended shield, ballistic, override, single Web etc etc.. all tech2. .. however I've lost about 20 kestrels and earning only 2 kills. I'm absolutely gutted and becoming discouraged. As far as my piloting skills go, I'm OK, managing to stay out of brawler range when appropriate, or staying close during beam or rail gun fights... I always lose.
Keeping in mind all my SP in missiles/rockets.... what's an alternative frigate that I could use for faction warfare solo pvp that will be successful? I've seen the condor fit above and will look into this, but are there any other options also? Hook bill maybe?
Or should I persevere with the Kestrel and work through my mistakes?
Thanks! |

firetail.
Fitted: 280mms, 2 webs, scram, AB, armor tank. Cargo: 200mms, shield extender, mwd, mobile depot.
How to fly: You see a brawler? Scramkite him. You see a scramkiter? Brawl him, you have the double webs, you win. You see a kiter? MWD brawl him.
Definately the most versatile frigate out there and allows you to learn everything in it and has the ability to fight pretty much any other frigate and come out on top. Even Daredevils, if you do your homework well. |

I have highlighted your mistakes. In spite of all the crying on the forums EVE still is not pay to win. Player skill tops injected SP. You seem eager to learn. So acquire knowledge in the way most appropriate to you. Watch some videos, read some blogs, buy some ships and try different fittings. But don't make this experience unnecessary expensive in using the "best" stuff. T1 hulls and equipment are sufficient to learn how to avoid mistakes.
Maybe your definition of "relevant" skills is also a little off. The mastery stuff is just a rough guideline as to what might be needed. |
