for me the game closes when I try and open the audio tab in settings. when I remove VXPortManager.dll during the character selection this doesnt happen but then I dont get any vivox options either. When running the logserver the last entry is process 2184, c:\EVE\bin\ExeFile.exe, module c:\EVE\bin\blue.dll ; showing this message: Value not in entries -1
Ive tried reducing the hardware acceleration but this does nothing. ----------------------------------------- For the liberation and safety of the Matari people! |

Originally by: Amida Ta Doesn't work for me. After entering the game (station loading) it just crashes in Vista with a DEP-Protection fault. Seems that Vivox is trying to do something REALLY nasty...
but but but your using vista? I don't think they have sorted the original client for vista yet let alone sisi
I'm using Vista Business x64. And the original client works without problems for me.
I'm using Vista Business x86. TQ works fine, SISI is snagged by DEP.
I thought that but disabling DEP makes no difference and I still crash at entering game as...
DEP disables it because it's about to crash. Disabling DEP simply lets it crash. the conflict as far as i can tell from looking at logserver is Vivox. but then this build is not even being built for Vista it's still being built for XP, though it might be prodent for CCP to realise that a lot of people will upgrade to Vista from XP but still be unable to run the new version of Eve because they don't haev directx10 graphics cards, so making this version of Eve work in Vista will become more important, perhaps not now, but certainly a few months after release.

Also needs a voice output volume bar.

Id certainly want to option to remap the talk key. On TS I use the alt-key. Is there an ETA the TQ patch for Vivox?

I did a bit of testing last night while the downtime was happening and here is what I've found so far.
I tried EVE on two computers.
Computer 1 - Main gaming box, onboard sound (C-Media) mic works with ventrilo and msn fine. Eve would just not detect a microphone? I'm not sure why the vivox settings do not show on this computer.
Computer 2 - Main working box (outlook, programming tools, etc), onboard sound (NForce 2), Eve detects something better here and shows vivox settings straight away. These show regardless if audio is enable/disabled. This machine hasn't got the best video card and is normally used over VNC which Eve isn't the best over.
I thought Computer 1 wasn't working because of the c-media audio, pluged in a USB headset which is also using c-media chipset and it also did not show anything extra in eve. Pluged in an old SB Live which also did not help my situation. I disabled the onboard sound which also did not help. I am going to try another USB headset which I know is not c-media and I am going to try using another sound card (Audigy) if I can find it in my old parts box.
I am also going to try computer 2 with either USB headsets pluged in to see if it changes anything.
Eve Devs how is eve detecting if vivox setting are to be shown? Can you please change it so it always shows and disables the settings if its not detecting an input device or something. I ran the log server and from what I could see in it did not show any issues with vivox at all and didn't show me enough information on why its not showing.
I've got some spare parts around (3.2g P4, Asus P5B / A64 3000+ and Asus M2NPV) I might install windows on and try eve on these boxes also. Both have onboard sound one is nForce4 and the other is using an Intel chipset but not sure if sound is another chip or not for either board (I should quickly look up their stats).
I will report back in a few days with my findings.
Devs if there is anything you would like me to try please say.
Cheers, Matt |

Edited by: Cadela Fria on 31/01/2007 12:30:06 I keep getting this in my eve server logs when I right click "join audio":
JoinChannel 2 Failed to join channel sip:[email protected] -2131885963 OnConnectorEvent channel_command_completed
Which in short means...nothing happens...I have setup my hotkeys, my mic and everything. I tried re-logging, re-patching, closing and joining the channel several times, clearing my cache ...no go
I'm thinking it's my router not letting it through...thing is though, I don't know what port Vivox runs through. I've been told it uses the same as EVE..and if thats the case, im fresh out of ideas...other then that..givez me the portZ - New sig in the workings -Knowledge is a priviledge, not a right - ....*steals a cookie from the ISD cookie yarr* >_> |

Are any Devs reading this thread?
Even a simple reply would encourage me you are actually reading everyones input on the vivox issues. I will probably do more testing tonight but I can't see myself doing any extensive testing until I see that I'm not waiting my time even trying and reporting back to this thread.
I don't expect a dev to acknowledge every post but even a "keep them coming" would be nice to know your "listening".

Not sure if this has been ask yet. It would be nice if you could map the push to talk to only One Button instead of the two that it requires. I found during testing that this was a headach even with both keys besides each other. Come to the Darkside, we have cookies. |

vivox log files should not be stored just loose on the C: drive root.
Preferably, they should be in [installpath]\capture\vivoxlogs\ ___________________________

Can we get an option to disable the action menue completely? Up to now i wasn't using it and i assigned the middle mouse button to it. With vivox in default settings, this is no longer possible

I like the idea of TS like channel commander options. Especially with the current fleet design. Fleet commanders should be able to communicate with wing commands, who can talk to FC and Squad commands, who can then talk to squad members. This would be a minimum web of communication. The "middle" commanders would have to have options as to when their subordinates can hear them, to avoid confusion.
Also, the price is fantastic for the quality! I was impressed with integration and functionality. It's obviously still in testing, but impressive non-the-less. I would like to be allowed to create "voice" channels to test the UI of these functions. Currently, I could only join voice on the channel a Dev set up. Ideally, I think ANY channel should have voice options enabled.
The price again is great, however, when first discussed there was talk of a corporate/alliance wide pricing option. Expecting everyone to fork out 10$ is a lot considering I already offer them free TS usage. However, if I can pay a similarly tempting price to offer this service to my entire corporation it may be worth saving me the headache of running a TS server, and would more easily facilitate the whole corporation getting into voice communications. Any thoughts on that? --- Your RIGHTS are a PRIVILEGE, don't abuse them.

OK, thought I'd try out vivox on sisi and see what's what and how well it runs in it's current incarnation.
Options screen everything is good, works well... but (you knew there would be one) I have a Logitech MX Laser mouse and it has only two main buttons plus scroll wheel that is also a button and some thumb buttons for other stuff. Long story short, can't seem to get chat to activate, but then I can't get into the "Join Voice" anyway... it never changes from just "Join Voice" and when looking at my logserver log file it shows:
"Orphan'd event. DoDevicePreReset doesn't have any listeners"
Then a load of other stuff. This happens everytime I try to join a voice channel.
This is a sig...

I am running vista also, and after I pick my char, it loads up like 90%, then gives me an error message. [CCP Blue Framework has stoped working] It has to do with DEP (Data Execution Prevention. Man I hope this gets fixed soon....
