If CCP enhanced the contracts so we could use a list in the contarts "not Issued by" we could block the scammers and not have to filter through all thier contract spammage.

no no that would make no sense at all.
We can fly spaceships faster than light, but the idea that a person can ever be accountable for what they do in this game is just ludicrous.
Scammers will always get new victims because space-age contract systems do not include filters. CCP see scamming as an important part of the game, so the deliberately prohibit anything that might allow you do do something useful,
like make a blocklist of known scammers. In fact in this era of wonderful technology the only option left to us superhuman podpilots is to get out good old pen and paper, and write down a scammer's name. Then manually check every contract you look at against your list of scammers.
Yes its dumb, I know.
Are CCP ever going to do anything about it? Nope. If they can't even get drones to work properly after 3 years I doubt this is even on their radar.
I expect their marketing department have wrapped this one up and placed it under the 'features' category.
"Hey new customer, you can make an alt in a newby corp to scam people all day long, and there is nothing anyone can ever do to stop you or ascertain your real identity. SOund like your kind of game? Give EVE a try."

Sounds to me like you're the alt.
Last night I attempted to help him with a courrier mission. I had a bad feeling about it, but it was late and I resolved to check through it as closely as I could. I'd never used the courrier system since the new contracts though and I fell for a scam. Cost me a billion ISK. So please. Take your uncalled for commentary and shove it. because your attitude after the fact is uncalled for and unwelcome. I take responsibility for my actions, but I don't expect to be scammed and called a liar about it.

Is that really ok with CCP that you threaten other players to report them and get 'em banned for something you clearly know it is in no way a bannable offence? -------------------------------------- Agent & Mission-Info: http://www.eveinfo.com Evewide Market-Info: http://eve-central.com/ |

I don't know if you're talking to me, but if you are. My original comment to the scammer was that if he's gonna post in this thread like he's an honest merchant, he can return the collateral he said he would the moment before he logged off. The best part of this is, the guy didn't even have the decency of telling me he scammed me before I made the 12 jumps in my freighter to assist him, and even after I caught on he said. Where are my mods, let me complete the contract so I get my stuff back and can give you your money *logs off*.
Scamming happens, yes. I've avoided it for 3 years. But people letting others know when someone scams is also something that happens.
I looked at his character, was a year old. Had a previous corp history. The contract was as far as I knew legitimate. It had a payment, location, destination, items, collateral. He had a reasonable reason. There were opportunities for me to know better and I in fact backed out, but it was late and I fell for his guilt move at me leaving him hanging.
What I don't expect is to come on here and have someone accuse me of lying about it. Or see the scammer on here with the audacity to be posting as if he's innocent.
I mean, what's next. Is he gonna write a book called. "If I did scam you, this is how I would have done it"

Lets face it the Devs of this game enjoy bringing out the worst in people. They purposely put things in the game to make it easy for players to grief each other. Lie, cheat, steal and especially kill others thats the only important thing in their game design. They are fortunate in that they have no viable competition currently so thier player base is safe. One day this might change and perhaps they will be forced as other game designers have been in the past, to change thier mindset. Time will tell. In the mean time, if you don't enjoy being griefed so some other person can get his jollies, look at every other person in the game who you do not know well in real life as a liar, a cheat and a thief not to mention a serial killer and you might have half a chance.

LOL
a freeform contract explicity says " you will pay xxxx isk , the maker of the contract can give you whatever he wants , or nothing , his decision after you have paid " . the only reason for freeform is to scam , there is no ther reason .
we need a " never ever , i mean never show a freeform contract , ever " button .
there is absolutely no reason for any buyer to ever contemplate accepting a freeform contract .
Seriously in real life if someone said to you , " give me everything i ask for/do everything I tell you to , you reward will be anything I decide at the end of your work , or nothing " and you acceppted , then you are a fkking idiot , or a retard . so why do it in eve ?

This is a pretty good point. There is absolutely no reason for freeform contracts to exist other then to enable scamming. Which makes me sad because when I first heard about them I thought there was a thin chance it might be a way to setup automated mineral purchases or similar intra-corp or intra-alliance. But no - *sigh*.

Scamming is a part of the game imo. Just like you acutally _can_ kill someone in 1.0, even though there are Concord in space. That¦s what makes EVE what it is. I love the fact that there are a bunch of mean guys trying to scam and/or kill you, and I really hope that CCP doesn¦t implent some lame-ass game mechanics to prevent this! Restrictions within game mechanics is bad, m¦kay? :D

actually its a pretty nice tool to setup intercorp contracts like refuel pos here or bring supplies there and tehn do this and that. but people learn fast to take advantage :D

I will tell you very easy and clear how not to be scammed.
1) Read close, always read, it if says freeform it means just that, you can TYPE, anything you like in there, meaning you are giving or given money on nothing but words. No items will ever exchange hands in this type of contracts
Always make sure you look at the TYPE!, this will take you what type of contract it is, Item Exchange is what you are looking for to exchange items, if there is more than one it will say UP TOP [Multiple items] (Item Exchange), always make sure the type is right, the items are there, (it will list the items in a database like state) giving you full list of info.. It will not be a "clickable" link..
2) If there asking for isk first, its 99.99% a scam, Always get them to contract you the item with how much they want for it, and make sure its a ITEM EXCHANGE contract...
3) Never go by what the Description says, always go by whats the contract is for by looking at the very bottom, it will ALWAYS SAY! if its more than one item it will always say if its a BPO or BPC, it will say how much ME or PE it is. ALL YOUR INFO is listed by default and there is no way you can change this info. SO READ!! READ!! READ!! (really devs you can take the description out on item exchange's, don't need them)
4) Never and I MEAN NEVER!!!! accept a contract if the person says accept it and give hem something back.. The person who set the contract can remove it and reset it if something isn't right about the contract. Don't let them tell you other wise, if they do there trying to scam you.
5) People will do a lot of things to get free isk, (fake IPO's, scams and so on and so forth), its easy as this. If someone wants to start an IPO before CCP puts the right tools in game for something like this its on them, don't give it to them. Just take the time a read for a few secs and your wont get scammed.
95% of everyone who gets scammed can avoid it by reading something for 5 secs. Prove me wrong.
So everyone do something for me, READ WHAT INFO IS GIVEN TO YOU!, make sure it is what it says it is. IF its links and text, thats just what your going to get, a few links and a few words, and someone laughing at you because you just got scammed.
I hope this helps someone, and remember to just READ!!! and you wont be scamed.
