Edited by: Pottsey on 28/01/2007 07:04:31 öI give this thread a hour before Pottsey comes in, and writes some gibberish about how a passive tanked Chimera will, in fact, outtank a siege mode Revelation.ö Hey thatÆs not fair you cannot post when I am asleep. How I am meant to write gibberish that fast?
Anyway you can passive tank based around high hitpoints and resistance but HP regen passive tanks are rubbish on Carriers worse then BS and BCÆs in fact. Over 200k shield hitpoints pre resistance should be doable with very low HP regen about 50 ish but an active tank would still most likely be better then lots of hitpoints and resistance.
At least with the passive tank you always have tons of cap to jump out when needed. With the active tanking jumping out when your tanks about to fail can be tricky. On the hole though I wouldnt passive tank a carrier.

Your build sounds most excellent. One more thing:
As some have mentioned, carriers need isotopes to jump and liquid ozone to open the fields you jump to.
Dread use 'Strontium' to maintain their siege mode.
Carriers use 'Morphite' for fighter fuel. It's not the cheapest to buy but make sure you never leave station without a full load in both your cargo bay and corp hangar - you never know when a fight may be coming up.
Let me know when you get that bad boy fitted and I'll come make some screenshots, will be a kick ass ship.

Oh...Dear...God
Right let me correct this before you lead an innocent nub wrong ^^
Carriers need isotopes yes. But they dont need ozone. The cyno pilots need it. Not the carrier.
Yes dreads use stront.
And wtf?! Fighters dont use fuel. So dont even bother taking morphite, cos you'll just be hauling a tonne of minerals for no reason.

i agree he should take a full cargobay full of morphite for the fighters.. I'll come and take some screenshots aswell and there's about 15 other corp members of mine that would like to take some screenshots too so I'll bring them too

What the hell are you talking about? both wrong ... fighters need tritanium for fuel and a LOT of it, I mean millions I dont go anywhere without a hauler full of trit near my hel.
Also wtf dreads dont use stront they need t2 bpos for fuel, so keep lots in cargo.
I highly suggest you guys fit your cap ships with t2 nanos and istabs and 10mn mwds, (10mn afterburners as well for a little more speed too!)
and dont forget to add plates to your lows, fit 800's if you dont have pg left!
good luck.

See this is why i love capital ship threads.
They start off with a nub (no offence) posting....then turns to other nubs calling the original poster a nub, and trying to correct him...then they themselves look stupid when they post wrong info lol. And then its sarcasm wars^^

But if you dont think so, then thats your perogative.
I know that its decent. Alot better than some others....

Did you miss the point? Morium wants a terribly-fitted and loaded-with-Morphite carrier so they can "take screenshots".

Muhahahaha!
But on topic again, The nano setup for the wyvern wasnt a SERIOUS pvp setup in terms of how people would setup. I however know its a decent setup for solo pvp in general. But not a good investment ^^
And the mention of nanos was made in a previous reply, which was edited. Hence you couldnt see what i was talking about
But in either case....that chimera setup = uber

Oh and 'any moron' can figure out you dont have enough calibration to fit 3x T2 CCCs, the max you can fit is 2x T2 1x T1. -----

Still... here's for the Waxau nano-mothership fund
How fast would one of those actually go? I'm guessing you could do 500-600m/s with snake + speed rigs, maybe more on the Aeon.

Aeon would *probably* do about 1.5kms.
A Revelation can do 2.2 with strong x-instinct, overdrives, and a t2 mwd, with rigs.

Ok gonna do some constructive posting here.
You will want to armor tank your carrier because you will need your med slots which makes amarr/gallente the best for this job. If your going against small gangs I fit my thanatos something like this.
High: 3-4 drone control units 1-2 named nos
Med: sensor booster dual webbs Warp disruptor backup array
Lows: 2 capital armor reps 1 explosive hardener II 1 thermal hardener II 1 kinetic hardener II 1 EAN II
Havent lost it so far, never engage a nos heavy enemy gang.

General tip for all cap pilots regarding the nos.
One thing i find a prob with your setup...You cant fend off other drones (smartbomb). Also, you have near to no cap regen. A Thanatos' true tank comes from its myriad of med slots for cap rechargers.
Also - Whilst i know many fit nos on their carriers, there are much better uses. Keep in mind, a cap can support heavy neuts alot better than BS - So fit Neuts if anything. The cap those heavy nos bring in will be pitiful in the grand scheme of a capital cap.
So the moral of the post - Always have smartbombs, and a huge tank. Tackling gear is all well and good - but it would be best to have a friend do that, unless you're solo. In which case, you need to have a huge tank, as you will always therefore be primary. Eg less tackling gear.
