I just wanted to know if it is possible to go through this game alone. I started a trial, and noticed that a lot of things in this game are really, really expensive/hard to get without corperate backing. If/When I subscribe, I most likely will join a corp, but IS it possible to play and advance alone?

Another newb question, unrelated: Where can I go to see some epic PvP/Corporate stuff in 0.0 space? Like space stations and such?

It is possible if harder going. At the beginning, you will likely want to focus on getting more money. You may want to run missions, mine, or trade. Learn one thing at a time and if you find yourself bored, try something else.
If and when you get about 10+ million isk and want to learn about PvPing, there's a corp named Agony Unleashed that teaches new players. Their PVP-BASIC instruction costs 5 million isk and 6-8 hours of your time, but I recommend them heartily. It'll get you up to speed quickly and give you a good idea of what PvP can be like.

You can do a lot of things in the game alone. You can't build a Titan alone, you can't run an alliance alone, you can't run certain very difficult missions and complexes alone, and you can't build an outpost alone. But everything else pretty much can be accomplished by one player.

Not worth it.
Playing eve solo is more boring than watching paint dry.

The really, really expensive things are overrated. It's certainly possible to play and advance solo - in fact, unless your corp is very good and quite large, there will be times when you just have to go it alone.

It is very possible to play solo. I have played much more solo than as a corp member and I have found a lot that is fun.
In EVE there is so much freedom that finding fun is not a difficult thing to do, if you use a little imagination.
Oh, and once you have played for a little while, all those seemingly overprice items won't even put a large dent in your wallet. Making ISK in EVE is really easy, and there are so many ways to do it.

Play solo but you can add complexity and fun by running multiple accounts simultaneously on your PC & running your own corporation with all your characters from all your accounts in it. Playing solo does not have to mean not being in a corp, not being in a gang, and being limited to what can be achieved with only one character. Of couse you still won't be building a fleet of titans.
The current eve client is extremely stable and is not very demanding in terms of computing power - memory is most important to reduce paging and speed up ALT/TAB. 1.5GB seems plenty for three simultaneous clients. Proud to be a CareBear |

Eve has no end of game monster. You can't win. Eve is not a linear game. Everyone is not trying to reach level 60. My goals in Eve are most likely not yours. Eve is a sandbox. Every character can learn any skill, no limitations, but there are far too many skills for one character to become the best at doing everything.
Some players enjoy belonging to a closely cooperative Corp, doing most things together. Others prefer a looser Corp structure, with few obligations. Yet others play solo. Eve is big enough to accommodate all these styles of play, and none are 'best'. Do what you enjoy, don't do what you find boring.

I played alot solo in my eve time, it can be fun to do. Its lovely to do what you want instead of being ordered around the universe 23/7 by some ****head ceo.
Joining a corporation that does what you like is a good idea though, it is fun to join on a pvp op. Or run missions with friends. But watch out for those corps that dictate you around 23/7.

Yes, but I wouldn't recommend it for newer players. Eve's learning curve is steep enough for many people as it is, and one of the best ways to overcome that is to join a good corp.

Players in NPC corps are generally KOS (kill on sight) throughout just about all of 0.0, but if you can learn to survive it, exploring 0.0 at an early age can be a hell of a lot of fun. I know, I did it myself.

Well the busy places will always show up on the in-game map (F10). There you can colour the stars by players docked or in space, or by jumps in the last hour to track player movement, or kills in the last hour for possible hostile activity. Jita in The Forge region is undoubtedly the busiest system in the game at the moment.
As for real cool stuff, well that depends on your definition of cool.
Generally, the greatest concentration of player activity in 0.0 tends to be found in or near station systems. You might find a station that actually denies you permission to dock, or charges a docking fee before you are accepted, depending on where you go. Higher level complexes are fun to warp into just for a quick peek, or you could search the belts for rarer ores like mercoxit, arkonor, bistot or crokite.
For specific landmarks, well, 5P-AIP in Feythabolis is where the first player-built station in the game (called an outpost) was built, and C9N-CC in Esoteria is the home of the first Titan wreck. Then there are the sites of famous large-scale fleet battles of old, such as U-QVWD in Catch or VV-VCR in Syndicate, though there's nothing physical there to mark said events, just history. Last year's "great siege" took place in EC-P8R in Pureblind, though that's always a dangerous system due to its proximity to Empire, so be careful.
Of course, not all places of interest exist in 0.0 space. The Eve gate in New Eden is in low-sec Empire. There are also one or two examples of player "can art" around the place, where large images are created in space by the careful positioning and anchoring or dozens/hundreds of small cans (can't remember where any of these are, though). And if you want to see a dreadnought without fear of being killed by it, pay a visit to Amarr and ask Chribba nicely.

You absolutely can play solo. The most enjoyable aspects of the game are done in teams but you can play solo, hook up with some people for a short time, then head back off and do your own thing again. The real key is to just keep talking around until you find a group of like minded people who have the same goals as you. Being able to call in back up to complete one small part of a job/mission instead of failing/accepting a loss is very nice though. No all corps want your soul+ your first born child.
I can play this massive multiplayer game ALL BY MYSELF!!!! |

Erm ... try the videos section of the forum. Fleet battles are not a spectator sport, unless you have a cloaking device.
There might be some cool static stuff in 0.0 COSMOS constellations, such as the gas clouds (anyone seen a screenshot of those?), but I don't know.

gas clouds aren't that great, they look like the normal clouds you see in missions.
