You know, if you promise to double ISK, and it's a newbie that sends you the ISK, keep your promise and double it. After all, how much can they send anyway, right?
Think the point is that you may put new players off of the game before they've even had a chance to start to get to know the game.
You know, first impressions and all that. |

I believe they should do away with the NPC corps so those who decide to drop corp when I wardec them have nowhere to run.

If anything the sooner a player gets scammed the better. Shows them what to expect from eve sp they don't get a false idea.
EDIT
Not to mention the sooner you are scammed and learn to avoid them the less you have to lose

There is put out a valid point in this discussion.
Note the diffrence between npc corporations and starter corporations. Scammers are using the starter corporations to circumvent the law against scamming in starter systems. Since its impossible to know if that new guy is in the starter system or not when beeing scammed in the starter corporation. What is the chance the new guy will report this, instead of just quit the game after reciving such a bad introduction to the game? Pretty low imo.
Alot of New players recives items from ccp, to start them off in their New eden career. If sold they can have anything from 100 to 500 mill of starter value, depending on what and how they enter the game. If a newer pilot decides to buy a plex, thats another 1.2 billion isk. I think this is exploiting the New, and as a result is hurting ccp alot. Especially if theres no big red sign at the front door, teaching them that they will be vicimized as soon as they enter this game :)
Personally I think Starter Corporations should be as starter systems when it comes to protecting the new. |

As usual CODE. is the only one making a lot of sense: Newbros have nothing worth scamming and anything they lose is gotten back in a few days. As their SP progresses it goes from benig hard to buy a frigate to easy to get a fully fit T1 Destroyer (That's what? 2M ISK?)
As their SP rises their ISK/Day starts doubling REALLY fast. It's not a problem if they lose their first 10M they'll have it back in relatively no time.
As for PLEX buyers? I think PLEX needs a warning. When you drop PLEX onto an account a pop up should come up infroming you about scams and other 'features' of EVE including the difficulty of transporting PLEX and the lack of need TO transport it.. Let it have a "don't show me this again." |

The Center For Advanced Studies, the corp my latest alt is part of, has over 1 million members. Most of those of course are inactive, but many others of those million are, or are alts of, rich veteran players like me. Why should they get to be isolated from intended game play?
If you want to isolate new players from part of the intended gameplay of this game in order to "save the newbies", then you need make sure you are indeed only isolating new players. The starter corporations are largely not new players and thus not the way to try to give safety to new players.
I think the status quo where the scammers themselves are responsible for not messing with new players works well enough. Just like it is perfectly fine to gank a 2-year old character mining in a starter system (in fact doing so is one of the highest forms of altruism in this game as it protects the share of limited resources there for the true new player), it is perfectly fine to scam a 2-year-old player still residing in the starter corp.

Yes. Better they learn the reality of the game sooner instead of later. Especially when they have the least to lose.

That's not circumventing anything, and it's not a valid point.
The rule goes against engaging in that activity in the rookie systems, or the rookie system local chat. Nothing more, nothing less.

Citation needed for that obvious lie.
They themselves have studied new player retention, and scamming damn sure wasn't mentioned about people quitting.

The toxic "player corps are evil" atmosphere has much more to do with it I'm sure. I've seen newbros ask how to join a corp and get the answers "you're already in a corp" and "don't join a player corp, they're terrible", etc. Some of them stick around and run missions for a while parroting these lies, but most probably give up when they get bored and don't have any support.
CAS is particularly bad. They've brainwashed a whole cult of players to believe their nonsense. They're so proud of their accomplishments, because they put together pvp fleets and mining ops and such. You know....the sort of things that evil player corps do daily!

Newbie scams are the best scams. Scamming is a great way to make billions of ISK, and newbies appreciate it far more than the vets. Also, as one scams, they come to realize the game is more fun when playing against other players, as opposed to "questing" (not very much fun relatively speaking, and imho). I say encourage it.

So every time we sign up for a new email account, should Google, Yahoo, or whomever be required to inform us that we are in fact not related to the Prince of Nigeria?
And furthermore, that we did not in fact buy the winning ticket for the National Spanish Lotto and some how it slipped our minds?

There are substantial differences between the various new player corps. Some are full of scammers and people seemingly attempting to mislead the new players at every turn. Others are genuinely helpful and even have vets with alts organising fleet ops for new players. |

Some clarification needs addressed.
Rookies start off in Schools. Theres no way a vet can get seeded back to a school as an npc corporation outside of being in it all along.
Should schools be off limits to scamming the same as rookie chat? Thats up to CCP to decide, and would be nice to get there feedback on this matter. Which may put this topic to rest.
So CCP, What say youse?
