Hello everybody
Not sure if a topic like this is created earlier here, but i'l make a new one anyways.
In this topic i just want to see hows your computer looks like.
My computer is just like 2-3 months old, so it's kinda new. I had to buy a new computer after my old computer took suicide
But i can first start with giving you some pictures of my new computer here:
Zalman Fatal1ty FC-ZE1 Champ1on Series Case Picture 1
Zalman Fatal1ty FC-ZE1 Champ1on Series Case Picture 2
Zalman Fatal1ty FC-ZE1 Champ1on Series Case Picture 3
Zalman Fatal1ty FC-ZE1 Champ1on Series Case Picture 4
Zalman Fatal1ty FC-ZE1 Champ1on Series Case Picture 5
Zalman Fatal1ty FC-ZE1 Champ1on Series Case Picture 6
And you probably want to know the specifications on my computer to i guess, so here we go:
My Computer Name: The Nuclear Reactor
Computer Case: Zalman Fatal1ty FC-ZE1 Champ1on Series
PSU: Enermax Liberty 620W
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+ 2.4 GHz @ 2.81 GHz - Sokkel AM2 - 2 x 512kb Cache
CPU-Cooler: Thermaltake Big Typhoon VX 120
Mainboard: Asus M2N32-SLI Deluxe / Wireless Edition AiLifestyle Series - ATX - nForce 590 SLI - Socket AM2 - UDMA133, Serial ATA-300 (RAID) - 2 x Gigabit Ethernet - 802.11b & 802.11g - FireWire - High Definition Audio
Memory: Corsair TWIN2XP2048-6400C4 (2 x 1 GB DDR2 800 MHz @ 936 MHz Modules)
GPU: Asus Radeon X1900XT 256MB - CrossFire-st°tte - PCI Express - 2 x DVI - HDTV
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 120 GB S-ATA (8 MB Cache & 7200 RPM) & Maxtor MaXLine Plus II 250 GB S-ATA (8 MB Cache & 7200 RPM)

Why does your computer look like its going to kill us all?!
I'm generally against PC cases with flashy lights and glass panels and the like. It'd be like getting a screw driver that sings Merry Christmas- it kinda feels unnecessary. As such, my PC case is of the beige plastic variety -----------------------------------------------

LOL, well i can call my computer for a killer or something, since it's damn nice in most games
But i don't like to much lights in the computer case to, but in this case, i only have 1 x 20 cm and 1 x 30 cm cold catode light, so it's not that much tbh. But more lights than that i can agree on that it will look crap.

Oh wow, I'm so glad I saw this topic! It's really gonna help save me money, I was going to upgrade my PC, but then this thread reminded me how much better performance you get with electricity-wasting lighting effects! Thanks!!!!!

Seriously, that lighting stuff looks good, but I can't see it as being good - unless it's all very low power stuff (read: LED lights). I got an LED keyboard and mouse - lovely blue colour, and they use a tiny weeny weeny weeny bit of electricity :-)
One day, I'll have a solar/wind/geothermal/water powered home. I wanna save the world. *Hugs tree*
I got my sig snipped again. Can someone make me a new one? |

I've got a Coolermaster Cavalier case, which is cool in a simple aluminium sort of way, no fancy lights or anything. Inside it is a fairly basic fit but I've got a nice mobo so its easy to upgrade at a later date:
Asus M2N-SLi Delux (AM2) AMD Athlon 64 2.2GHz 1024Mb DDR2 ram (basic stuff) BFG 3D Fusion Nvidia 7600GT

It's not LEDs, it's cold catode lights
But to be able to get the lights to works, i need a converter that convert 12v to 800v or something, so yeah, it need some volts to be able to light up the cold catodes.

"I'm fairly boring, but heres a long list of all the machines I have, and a fancy server, the kitchen sink....."

Well, if you want a list....
PC1: Main PC in Dining Room Antec Sonata with Acousti-pack Athlon XP 3200+ Some Motherboard (can't remember, onboard sound+lan though) 1.5GB RAM DVD-R DVD-RW 80GB IDE HDD AGP Radeon x1600 Pro
Though it's 'silenced' the heat sink fans are starting to die and grind a little. When I have enough cash I will migrate this upto a Core2Duo machine (ASROCK do a nice C2D based AGP/DDR1 Motherboard) with mostly passive components and a Seasonic PSU.
PC2: Mainly for email, electronics (Phidgets) and video editing Aspire X-QPack Athlon XP 3200+ Some motherboard (again, no idea) 1GB Ram CD-RW 80GB IDE HDD 27GB IDE HDD AGP Radeon 9600 Pro SoundBlaster Audigy 2 EX (front bay thingy)
Mainly for video editing. I am sure when I upgrade the box above to C2D, this PC will get the gaming hand-me-downs. Noisy as a hell though.
Server: Under stairs Athlon 64 X2 3800+ Energy Efficient Some motherboard (AM2, onboard graphics and LAN, PCI-E) 2GB Ram 120GB SATA HDD 160GB IDE HDD 160GB IDE HDD 320GB SATA HDD 10Mb Network card 80GB USB HDD (archive)
Serves the internet, does torrent stuff, stores files. Also acts as a SQL/Web Server for testing stuff. The Cool'n'Quiet thing on the AMD combined with the Energy Efficient model does quite well, raming down power when idle (which is most of the time) and has enough power to render DivX and SQL Queries.
Also on my list of stuff...
KISS DP-500 Network DivX/DVD Player (now you understand the 740Gb of server storage)
Compaq <something 700> Laptop (on wireless)
Nintendo Wii (on wireless)
X-Box
Nintendo DS (on wireless)

My Favorite though is a very nice wireless DVD player, that allows me to run a DVD from my PC HD anywhere in the house (currently connected to a Sony Surround System and a 3 meter wide projector).

hey man, how do you like that acrylic case? almost got one myself, but heard loads of bad things about them - get dirty, construction is very poor.
im using Antec P180B and I dont recommend it. PSU mounts on the bottom, heavy as ****, steel front panel warps with temperature variances.

I can not say enough about how bad the quality on my case was, the audio jacks at the front were soldered the wrong way round (the mic jack was connected to the headphones wire and vise versa), some of the panels are too big, the holes for the screws had to be widened so that the supplied screws could actually fit in and yes they get very very dirty.
If I was buying a PC now I'd go with a more normal case and with the moeny I'd saved buy some beer or something. The company that made my case was akasa so I think I'll be staying the hell away from their products in the future. -----------------------------------------------

Well I paid someone else to deal with it as I had a go at building it but really have no clue about computers. I'm not sure if it was worth it or not, I do like looking at the components (helps with the boardome of missions etc ) but if the option of getting someone else to build it wasn't there I would have sent it back.
It was funny listerning to the guy explain to me just how annoying the case was to put together and I was a bit nervous if he'd never take my call again, luckily he still does! -----------------------------------------------

I've using a current high-end build for the machine I'm using these days.
SilverStone Zeus 850W Quad-rail Lian Li PC777 Memorial Edition, i.e. "snail case" e6600 @ stock speeds Tuniq Tower 120 eVGA 680i SLI 2GB Corsair XMS DDR2 8500 eVGA 8800GTX @ stock speeds
1x 320GB Caviar SATA 1x 74GB Raptor SATA (2 partitions)
If I had a camera I'd take a pic. No flashy lights or anything. Just google the PC777, that's pretty much what it looks like.

Pff, this is just a show-off thread to boost one's e-peen.
Buffing up your desktops just seems so lame. I mean, they're desktops. They're at your desktop just being there. If you were to rig up a computer with fancy gadgets, do it on a laptop at least. At least you can show if off then. What's the point in wearing the fanciest and most fashionable clothings possible if you are stranded on an island alone?
Anyhow, I got my new laptop recently, so to be on topic, I present you Zepto Znote 6214W. It's a lovely power machine with a nice and clean design. No fancy gadgets, no flashing lights, just simplicity. Simplicity is also very beautiful.

Edited by: Grumoth on 26/02/2007 14:22:19 How much time do you even spend on watching it? Sure, at first you would be totally amazed, and look at it every second, but after a week or 2, it just stands there. I couldn't care any less about looks, I just want mine to work well.
You want to know why it makes them look stupid? Because they think we actually care and is going to applaud them and say, "Oh, how a mighty fine rig you got! I wish mine looked just like yours". Honestly, most people couldn't care any less.
Looks are so superficial to care about, really. Especially when it's a computer. It's just a way to show you got money, which isn't cool. It just shows how shallow you are as a person, at least to me.
Now, if you had a completly standard rig, I would have concieved you much different. It would have seemed to me you were actually interested in other people rather than just boasting yourself.

Well you don't need to comment in this topic if you don't like the topic, since there is peoples here that like to show others the computer they have, like me
It's almost the same as i have a Nissan Skyline GT-R and then drive around in the city i'm living in to show it of etc. Some peoples love to do that.
And that by having a lot of money by showing up a very nice computer, lol if i have had more money than Bill Gates, would that do you anything if i showed my computer here?
It's not about the money here and that, it's just about showing the computer so i can see if someone else have something nice so i can buy it to if it's cool

Poor guy, Thats one of the reasons I stay away from water cooling yes its quieter more efficient etc etc, but the basic instinct inside of me is telling me water + electronics is never gonna end well. Saying that theres properly far more success s for water coolign then failures guess you friend was just a bit unlucky

To the OP, shame on you for paying that much for a computer case. For the budget minded I would recommend Chenming computer cases. They are available at Newegg and are made by the same people that make Antec cases. I have the 501 model and it is built like a tank. Some of the other cases I have bought have been really flimsy and cheap feeling. If you catch the 501 in stock jump on it as they are usually very hard to find.

If you know how good the computer case is, you wouldn't say it's much money for the computer case. Nothing i have had ever in my life comes even close to be good as my Zalman computer case
And i'm sure other Zalman case owners can confirm that Zalman is VERY good

My pc's nothing special... almost 2 years old now tho so mabye I'd better upgrade some bits :P
It's a Dell Dimension 5000 with mostly standard stuff:
Processor: Intel P4 Prescott 3 ghz Memory: 2 512mb (if i ever get the money ill change it for 2 1gb sticks :D) GPU: Nvidia 6800 - considering upgrading since i got SupCom and its kinda slow :P
Monitor: BenQ FP202W 1680x1050
All that is in a standard Dell case which resides under my very messy desk:

Hey again.
Ok here is a little update on my computer:
I just buyed a Scythe Kama Meter 5.25" Fan Controller (SCKM-1000) 2 weeks ago, and used it for 2 days, and then it didn't wanted to work anymore, so i'm sending back that one, so i can get a new one now.
So when i have got the fan controller back, then i will take new pictures of the computer case with the fan controller on. And some pictures with the Nuclear Reactor off (the lights) .
I'm gonna tell what happened since i did send back the fan controller to get a new one. And i'm gonna tell that in a cool way :). Also i had all of my fans plugged through the fan controller, and that will say the CPU fan to. So i could control all of the fans through the fan controller. Then i went to bed and let the computer be on while i sleep, and i'm always doing that.
But when i wake up the moring after, then my Nuclear Reactor (My Computer) was off, and it shouldn't be off, because it haven't been any power cut or anyone that had turned off my computer. So i just turned on the computer again, but then the fan controller was dead, so no fans was running, so then i found out, aha, that's the reason my computer was turned off, my Nuclear Reactor did take an emergency shutdown while i was in sleep. Because there is a temp sensor on the motherboard that turn off the computer when the CPU temp is to high, and the CPU (reactor) temp got to high when the fan controller (cooling) stopped to work, and then the Nuclear Reactor did turn off. So i'm happy that this is not a real Nuclear Reactor hehe.
So if you look at this in the Chernobyl Reactor way, then it was the cooling system (fan controller) that was failing and did make my Nuclear Reactor to emergency shutdown to prevent the reactor (CPU) from melting.
And yeah, i have the game 'S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - Shadow Of Chernobyl' installed on my computer to now, and that's a very very nice game, i love the way the game is .

I think you are a tad over-obsessed with your computer, especially with how it looks. But, I'm not saying "get a life loser", because I personally know how easy it is to get caught up in details like that particularly when you might be going through a stale period in your life.
On 2nd thought..get a life loser!!!11

Hehe
Nah, i have a life .
I have a life though, even when i use a lot of money on my computer, it's just that i love to have a nice looking computer.
But it's funny though on what happened with my computer, and it's more funny when i had called my computer for The Nuclear Reactor before this happened, since you will for sure think Chernobyl accident by that anyways lol.

I agree. It better be good for d**n near 400$. For a college guy like me though the price is just absurd. I read the reviews for it and gathered that money could have been used for a nice Lian Li or Silverstone case. But if it makes you happy then thats all that matters.
