There is that one question I'd like to ask. Is it possible to steal unpiloted ships floating inside the large POS bubble? Recently my corp fell victim of hijackers, so I'd like to know if this was a result of some kind of exploit usage. I'd appreciate it very much if some staff member could give me a qualified answer regarding this incident. Bumping of those ships out of the bubble by a rogue corp member is not possible, for all of our recent recruits are known to us personally. Prior to hijacking there were a couple of guys hanging around in local, and scanning showed a Nyx and a Tempest in close vicinity to pos. I didn't really pay attention to this and simply logged off. From the absense of ammo in our pos turrets I can assert that it was shooting at something, but there are no pos killmails. All of the missing ships were drifting near the control tower, so there had to be at least 18kms between them and bubble border. thanx a lot. RA territory citizen

Edited by: Space Dream on 30/01/2007 08:00:43 little addon: we lost 4BS, 5 BS, 2 recons and 3 HACs - so if there was really Nyx (but i don't know HOW) - he need at least 3 jumps to dock all this ships..so we think it's some kind of BUG - but the last answer from GM was: "sorry guys, i don't see anything in logs - so i can't reinburst them - gl in covering u losses"...how u think is that right? :(
at leat we have to know if it was some BUG, "expoil-hijackers", or just feir loss..

Patch notes say under "fixed exploits":
"It is no longer possible to steal from a Starbase using a Carrier / Mothership / Titan."
No idea how that worked, I suspect it might be something to do with using the size of the ship to bump through the field.

did you have a password? I've heard of people entering a blank starbase password and getting access and stealing ships

Move from a corp hangar array to the corp hangar of the cap ship. You're not really "taking" anything if you move from one division to the same division. ---- AUS Corp Lead Megalomanic |

Ok gentlemen, here are some updates on situation: 1) GM refused to return the ships again. He said we can't prove the ownership of those ships. I suppose there is enough information on the stolen ships, such as owning corp, and titles. I suppose it's possible to track down changes of ships title and ownership and punish the bastards. I suppose the screens can prove the ownership of ships 'cause they are all situated near the Control tower. Same for the pilot who made screenshots. 2) Due to 1 i can assume, that all cases of such a hijacking were unresolved.

I can understand that devs accepted that you problem is a bug... now you need just to remind them about your petition, and they should return you losts. GL in all this story. tested on humans (c) |

that is what exactly we where done - but the answer was, that without insuarens mails to this ship - GM can't find that there are our ships (however i think everybody cound see it on screenshots), so they dissapered by exploid - but willn't not reinburst withous insuarens mails - so poore :( it's just anfear..

If you have a force field password on your POS, then there are only 3 Options.
A. Someone guessed you password, and received access to your POS, and stole your ships
B. You have a Corporate theif who stole the ships and sold/kept them for personal gain.
and C. Someone in your corp sold the POS password to the highest bidder and is now reaping the rewards.

Edited by: Space Dream on 02/02/2007 14:02:04 read the topik mate - we have no password on force field, im a director of our corp - so i looked to the "last logoff" logs and there was only 1 man after us who was playing...and he can't fly reons ans HACs and 3raced BS :)
and then look on sreens - the Nyx on 1-2 screen so i think everybody understand what mothod was used and GM said that he can't find anything out of normal gameplay...after oficcial patch mote that it is an exploid - it sounds strange...
what must we do? i lost 7 ships with full T2 fit for 1.8-2bil - it's big summ of money for me - and it's hard to play when i know tha my new ships will just dissapered and CCP will do nothing :(

So did that last patch prevent vessels with a ship maintainence bay from scooping inside a forcefield?
If not, it is possible for a Nyx to scoop up to 2 battleships and several smaller ships at a time if it could enter the forcefield (either due to knowing the password or not having one set).

if your tower had no password... that meant that anybody could enter it...
I found this out the hard way (thought I did not lose anything). I setup a bunch of POSes and figured that with no password, nobody except corp would be able to enter it.
I was chatting with someone in local, and suddenly he was inside my POs shield... and did not get bumped away. As an experiment I entered a bit of random mucky muck as the password, and then the person was expelled from the shield (was a friendly... but not in corp)...
so... pos with no password = open door

OK... just telling what happened to me once... since that day I have never run a POS with out a password... even if it is a jumble of characters... might have been a fluke with that guy... but meh, his shuttle did not get pushed away until after i made a password.

I dont know if bumping ships out of POS shield is exploit, but that was most likely done by Nyx. This is the only ship besides titan which can do this to properly setted POS.

sorry to hear but
- pos are unsafe
- they can be robbed
- its possibly to bumb the ships out with alt char
- in fleet battle even enemy ships can enter temporary the ff adn bounce out carriers
- if you want to be on the safe side, get 3 ships hangars, 1 for value stuff and 1 for corp 1 for alliance open, keeps the losses small
- make sure floating ships are always in middle of ff
ah yes and there are more tricks i can think about
- new patches can reset the old fix that pods cant enter ff :) happened twice now
watch your backs

If your a noob, stfu and give the man a break. And read his god damn post!
The guns were emptied, there is a nyx in system which can tank a death start let alone a normal POS. So many idiots dont read op and following posts and or make ignorant stupid comments.
I expect your ships were simply bumped out using the tempest to setup a point 30km behind the Ships once the guns had emptied their ammo stores, warping the nyx in, bumping your ships out, then loading them into the maint bay and running off.....
You cant prove it, and GMs wont do anything ;(

Let me get this strait. There was a mothership in system and you thought nothing of it?
It musta been some kind of bug. Maybe someone set up a cyno field on the shield and the game jumped the ship in inside the sheild?
I think that you very much deserve your ships back...

Hilariously enough it takes something like 10 hours to empty a starbase's guns of ammo if they're full. I would suggest that this was an inside job. _________________________________________________________

I dunno.
Theoretically it is possible to fly to a POS in an egg, select the ship that you want to "acquire" (I think it needs to be near the tower or some form of structure that you can BM and thus warp too), warp out then back to the BM, and before you get booted out of the FF, board the ship and fly off...without the guns taking you out.
I did say theoretically ;)
