I'm a month old, i have a couple o skills under my belt, i'm bored with AI, i'm going to start PvPing for real. I've run off PC rats while mining before(3 assy launchers on a mining ferox FTW), but none of them ever seemed serious to me and most i'm guessing weren't really dedicated, just getting a feel for it. What i'd like to know is what are the general "do's" and Don'ts" of PvP. I'll probably be running a Drake when i can afford it(i'm so very poor =( ) if that's at all useful. and thank y'all.
P.S. how much does it cost a pirate to get his ear's pierced? A Buccaneer! (please still help me)

Your welcome to check out www.agony-unleashed.com! I beleive we have some courses coming up this week for PVP-Basic. Its not the end all be all of pvp but I beleive its a great way to get your feet wet and avoid some of the most common pvp pitfalls.

1/ Don't fly it, if you can't afford to lose it.
2/ Expect to die. Lots.
3/ enjoy. PvP in EVE is the biggest rush ever.
4/ Understand how to fit and fly what you're planning to use. Some guy on the forum does not know better than you how to fly your ship.

Fly frigates, Rifters are excellent PvP ships. I'd suggest Merlins if you are Caldari, but it doesn't take long to get Minmatar frig III. Get a gang of friends together, and use TS or Vent. This gives you a massive advantage over those who don't use voice software. Find someone good at PvP and learn from them, or you can take our classes (Shameless plug).

Expect to win; prepare to die. Sound a little better? I don't know about you, but I died way lots in my first few PvP encounters. My kill death ratio gradually improves, but... well, I really do need more practice at _real_ fighting, not this blob/counterblob I see so often in 0.0 (and increasingly in empire wars too)

It might be a while off, but do yourself justice and train to fly a nano + Istabbed, nos munching, uber dampening Curse. I can assure you theres nothing that can defeat this beast. Except asteroids and starbase walls!!
