If I start skilling something on a char with implants and then clone jump to another char which has no implants, will my training time remain the same as for the one with the implants ?

No, the clone you jumped to doesn't have implants in, so the remaining time for skill is given at base skill rate. Remember you have to abort skill training before jump.

i seem to recall getting podded one time with a few +2/+3 implants and and skill training. When i woke up im my clone my skill was still training and still had the same time remaining on it (with no implants). Granted it has nothing to do with JCs, but It was still a bit strange to me. That is why you have to abort your skill training before before adding/removing implants and before you jump clones. It forces a recalculation of training times

Matalino is correct.
When you clone jump, you must first cancel whatever skill you have in training, and then restart that skill in your new body, obviously without the benefic of the old implants.
I run my main with a full set of +2s in his PVP clone because they are cheap and speed things up a bit without breaking the bank when he (rarely) gets podded.

I thought the whole point of jump clones was so that you could continue training at implant speed, while not losing them. Other than a fast hop across the galaxy, whats the point?

The other point is to *not* lose the implants in the body you don't want to bring to pvp combat. ----- n-1. ??? n. Profit!

Further to Sandeep's reply, you want to travel through 20 jumps of hostile territory to empire from 0.0 every time you feel like a bit of mission running for a change?

If you are in 0.0 with a fighting clone, i.e. no or not very expensive implants (except for the bloody rich), and want to go spend some time in empire, you can keep the good implants in that clone, so if you've got an especially harsh skill, JC out and train it in the relative safety of that clone in empire, run missions etc.
Apart from that, yes it is basically a fast hop across the galaxy, which is one of, if not the main reason for their introduction.
