Minmatar T2 ships usualy have a high EM and thermal shield resistance, but not the Vargur. Even though it's a T2 Minmatar ship. Why is that? Balancing? Normal T2 Minmatar high EM and thermal shield resistance would make it OP AF I'm guessing? This bugs me, need to know for sure the reasoning, thanks :')

I don't recall them(marauders) having t2 resist profile even before bastion came up.
As far as i remember first iteration of marauders with than fresh bastion module did have t2 resist baked in hull(or was it in bastion) but without 100% boost bonus in bastion(it was lover but can remember exact %). delivering little less(local) tank overall not by much.
Horde of farming carebears screamed in horror that their ships will perish if they cant tank direct impact with planet and amarr start complaining how vargur with t2 resist is better at omni tank and if they cant have same omni like minmatar...then t2 resist are evil unfair and universe will collapse along with certain death of EvE online.
CCP agreed.
Here we are with things as are now.

To my mind no shield tanked ship has much EM resistance by default. That said, for 60mil a gisti resistance module for EM is only 60mil and should get you close to 50% resist |

Jaguars have decent EM resists. |

Minmatar T2 ships native shield resists:
EM - 75% Thermal - 60% Kinetic - 40% Explosive - 50%
Examples: Wolf, Vagabond, Sleipnir
Not all of the T2 Minmatar ships have that specific resist profile though, indeed.
Also, Pith C-Type EM Ward Field mate, ftw

Hmmm, so what I gather from this is that the Vargur's shield tank is more specified for omni? Alright good to know, thanks :P!

Marauders never had (so called) T2 resists - nor have Interceptors, Interdictors...etc and, until recently, EAS. T2 resists were, for a long while, the exclusive province of HACs and AFs (hence the misnomer - there were many more T2 ships which didn't have T2 resists than did).
Marauders, though they fit the role profile of "assault ship" were not given the resist profile because they too much tanking power (large reps/X-L boosters & repair/boost amount bonus) and too many slots to make it viable, they would simply have been too difficult to kill.
For those unaware BTW... (So called) T2 Resists is the direct equivalent of a pair of hardeners to the counter-racial primary damage type and a single hardener to the counter-racial secondary, "baked in" to the hull on each tanking layer - so for Minmatar ships the counter-racial is Amarr, Amarr damage is primarily EM with Thermal as secondary; Minmatar HACs therefore have resists equivalent to having 2 EM hardeners and 1 Thermal Hardener on both shield and armour. This means that the Vagabond has 75% EM shield resist (base 0%, first hardener 50%, second 75%) and 60% Thermal shield resist (base 20%, first hardener 60%) - it also means it has 90% EM resist on armour (base 60%, first hardener 80%, second 90%). These resists are not stacking penalised. |

And Amarr ships usually have high explosive and kinetic resists, but not the Paladin. It is the same for all of the 4 Marauders, I believe that it would be too op together with bastion. |

I'd say that's a pretty nice bump in base resists. sure it isn't as nice as the hac bonus. if it had the hac resist profile it would be pretty insane.

vargurs are designed to shield boost so even without the resists a vargur will still tank a ton of damage in bastion, give them t2 resists and damn you will tank forever and they would be hella op
