The other book that comes to my mind, Andrew Groen's " A History of the Great Wars of EVE Online" got funded beyond his wildest expectations (and yes, I backed that. Whereas I didn't give the slightest **** about that propaganda crap that Mittani wanted to release). Call it what you want (though how a book where the author takes direct input from the enemies of the Imperium would be propaganda I don't know), it was a book agreed by CCP, to be written by a published author, put forward by one of the most well known players in the game and it failed to gain traction. Like it or not, rejecting media opportunities like that, regardless of who puts it forward, hurts chances of future projects. It's hardly the best sign for someone wanting to put the kind of budget that movies require on the line. Why would they bother trying to dance around the delicate subjects (based in fact) that upset players like yourself when they could simply ignore the EVE lore, write a space story about a big war and release a movie about that without tying themselves to IP. From what I've read of Groen's book it's just a longwinded way of reciting EVE history, which we all know and 5 minutes of google can tell you. While it might be a great thing for EVE fans to collect and stick next to their unopened copies of EVE Source, it's not exactly something that will excite non-EVE players and provide a gripping read.
You forgot to mention that it was also a book which was largely aimed at stroking the ego of one particular person.
The book that sought to do things as objectively as possible got less 'official' support and more actual support, because it was more interesting for outsiders as well.
An EVE movie could be about something that actually happened, but at this point, doing anything with mittens, gs or bob will be doomed before it starts, especially when seeking support from within the community.
Also, if you can google Groen's research - Be my guest, show the results to me. I can assure you, a lot of research went into that EXACTLY BECAUSE the information could not be found on google. And if you call EVE's history longwinded - The very book mittens tried to have funded is a part of that, so it must be longwinded as well?

After 13 years of existence one would think EvE Online would have a movie out. There are enough story lines around to beable to make one. I mean look at this for example below. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6qEXq0cH3x0&feature=youtu.be
How does Warcraft have one coming out, and i must say rather interesting as well. I plan on watching it. But can no one imagine for themselves how fantastic it would be to see a Eve Online movie with a story line? Immortalize EvE Online in a movie and capsuleers.
