Guys. This isn't a "Dev Q&A thread" or a "we need a new mirror" thread. So stop posting because i'm just deleting your threads.
If you have any questions, please post them seperately. This is for teh SISI Voice Tests only. ________________________________ ~Jiekon ~CCP QA

The channel Voice1 requires a password - I assume it will be cleared or published when it's time, right?
Is there a standard "watch here for Singularity announcements" channel? Is that FD-MLJ local?

Edited by: HR Goniff on 02/02/2007 17:52:59 There doesn't seem to be a Voice1 channel anywhere. There is a Singularity channel that seems to allow voice though...
Ok, It's not listed. Must use Create/Join button and type in Voice1.

OK, from the testing tonight, apart from the nifty extra sound panel settings for the voice (compared to the first stress) its actually not as good as the first test.
The general volume of others talking is really quiet, with no incoming stream volume to increase it. (This level was fine on the 31st's testing)
Mic boost, which wasn't an available option on the first test is unselectable.
Some most, if not all the (voice)settings cannot be changed when you are joined to audio, this is in addition to the warning given about the meter not showing whilst joined. Some things appear to work, but don't in practise until you leave audio, change and rejoin.
I could not change my input volume setting either, it would show a change, but not "save" it, and, in some cases, it would just spring back to its setting of about 30%.
This is also the case of the windows mic input option, setting matched the games level and the "springyness" was the same, when i quite eve, it was settable again.
Not sure about the key config for the mic PTT, nice to have the "use middle mouse" but (and i didn't test this except on the first test) it was aparently no able to set a single key to talk, needed to be a combo.
The voice quality was exceptional though, better than ventrillo, and despite the number of people talking, everyone was clear and without static crap in the background that we still get on vent. ______________________________________ Natural Selection Developer

The voice over EVE was easy to set up and operate with no noise in the system. There needs to be an option for a seperate voice channel when operating a wing or squadron so that you can talk to your squad while getting orders from the wing commander (or fleet commanders talking to the wing commanders). Or possibly when you enter a Convo you can run voice in the convo -- or a new convo type that is a voice only feed.
Intergration seemed well done. A universal volume meter needs to be implemented so we can graphically see how heavy or soft we are coming through.
Well done fellas.

I didn't have a mike, but the setup was easy and the sound quality was excellent. The main problems were that we weren't able to make the system crash, which was the point of the exercise (OK, I guess that's not as much of a problem as it might be); that there were people who left their mikes open and we weren't able to determine who they were; and that the volume levels from the speakers were inconsistent.
Is there a technological answer to the last one? Can the software recognize the volume of the incoming sound and adjust it to the desired channel volume? It would be annoying for an anonymous griefer to be able to derail a channel with no way to identify and squelch him.

My educated guess: A normalizer would do the trick but there'd most likely be (slight) buffering involved (meaning extra latency, though it may be negligible) and either it'd use up extra CPU if it were client side or if it were done server side it'd most likely be harder to implement. Though obviously I'm not working on it myself so this is basically my saying it's possible but ultimately up to the devs. :P

well, beat me to it, but as stated here by a mod (serathu):
CCP acts against EULA
it is forbidden to do any actions which put an extraordinary stress on the servers. so, what about your stress tests?
btw - i am just kidding, but i find it funny somehow, even if it is only SiSi.

Originally by: CCP Jiekon There is no mirror yet.
There is also no Windows DEP fix as we do not officially support Windows Vista.....yet.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/875352 Nothing related to windows DEP fixing for this game, however you may not support vista but its not vista only. If DEP support is overlooked, you might run into issue with it as its not just pertaining to vista.
Other then that, this doesn't have anything to do with the original posting. The post from Microsoft came before Vista was officially released.
