Comparing the cost of Skill Extractors obtainable solely through CCP related services you are served better buying AUR in every conceivable way. There is absolutely zero reason you should need to buy skill extractors directly from CCP, it's effectively a scam.
For comparison:
Buying a 10 pack of skills extractors costs $45
Buying (2) $20 packs of AUR and a $5 pack of AUR WITHOUT any bonus incentives results in a total of 8100 AUR. This can buy you the 10 skill extractors with 100 AUR left over and all without any bonus AUR. With the standard bonus you would get before and after the current sale you would be left with an additional 1000 AUR (9,000 AUR total) or one additional extractor; with the sale you would have an additional 2000 AUR (10,000 AUR total) or two additional skill extractors.
Even in smaller denominations spent on AUR you would receive a far greater amount than buying extractors directly, even without a sale or bonuses, and even with the largest skill extractor package.
I would love to know why CCP set the price so high on skill extractors when even pre-sale AUR prices (even without quantity bonuses) are less expensive. I can only assume CCP will change the AUR to skill extractor exchange rate or will issue a price reduction against the current cost of skill extractors. I am being particularly critical because CCP is effectively in complete control of these markets and should be well aware of the disparities in pricing and the misleading nature of directing users to buy skill extractors directly. |

There are 4 options to get Skill Extractors from CCP :
1 - buy Plex, convert to AUR, buy extractors
2 - buy AUR directly, and buy extractors
3 - buy extractor directly from CCP
4 - resub and get the bonus extractors
4 is pretty much a bonus giveaway, 3 is the most expensive form of buying extractors (as you noticed), 2 is the cheapest (and probably is responsible for the biggest # of units on market) but 1 also happens in decent quantity.
CCP changing the AUR/skill extractor price is doubtfull, what will happen is that the sale of stuff that can get you AUR (RL currency purchases directly of AUR or PLEX purchases/redeeming), will go up .... as it's just a sale atm. |
