Why are there some people so afraid of admitting losing ships? I lost ships, so? Do i sux? Heh maybe. 
Be realistic

Well, here we go: lost 4 ships so far.
1. Scythe downed by npc in Stain ages ago, what really sucked about it I had to go 70 jumps back in a noobship 
2. Stabber downed by Red Corsairs, also ages ago, failed blockade attack.
3. Blackbird killed at a jump in by CA when I was still CFS, expected loss actually.
4. Scorpion and pod lost to GWP guys. Engaged a Megathron and a Scorp, Scorp was jammed, another Scorp came and I decided to rather run. Got chased through a couple systems when they caught me at a station. Didn't make it to dock with the damaged ship so had to warp out, well, tried, when I got stuck in warp with a nice frozen screen of warp gfx, threat window gone, still taking damage. BOOM. Same stuff happened to pod, end of story lol. Still kudos to the guys chasing me, good job.

I've lost a blackbird and a moa in the early game to NPCs when they got beefed up and I underestimated them.
Lost four punishers in the Amarr Championship tournament finals (lost none in the house trials)
No pods lost, I'm still Version 1. I don't get into a lot of fights though, I'm more of a manager. About ~5 1v1 victories, ~20-30 war kills.

Lost a Vigil to Syndicate/m0o and another one to Space Invaders.
Lost two Rifters to Serps. One due to computer crash, one due to stupidity. First time I was actually webbified and warpscrambled by NPC 
Lost a Reaper to those same Serps going back to see what was left of my gear.
Never fly anything I either cannot afford to lose or cannot replace.

1 Bestower on the second or third week of retail to m0o somewhere in lonetrek.It was all i had, and i was so disgruntled i quit eve altogether.. only to make a fresh start about 2 months ago.

Lost my good old Vexor to some Mafia - guy in Syndicate while i was happily dragging back my first load of self-earned npc-loot back to empire station.
Good part of it was that the cruise missile aimed at my pod detonated on the gate half a second after i jumped
Too bad the insurance for the cruiser did run off two days ago

I,ve never lost a ship or pod untill the other day. I Went into warp in my beautiful raven - crashed to desktop and came back to an ibis (shuddder)
I warped straight into an Evolution corp meeting - as about 8 members of their corp killed me according to my concord eve mail.
To lose a raven outside of combat is truely a terrible thing, but on a brighter note they give u one piece of tritanium to get back on your feet, so its not all bad!

beh ive lost like 7-8 scorpions alone, prolly like 5 thoraxes, 4 blackbirds, 2 moas...god knows how many frigates. never been podded by an enemy tho...

I know I will loose more, and learn more. of course when I was green I feared loosing ships. but now I think it's a part of having fun. and fun is what it's all about

Bah, now let me see...
1x Merlin to Tank CEO when I just found out about "cruisers"
1x Incursus to 3x20k NPCs
1x Incursus to MASS (grrr )
1x Ibis to a 2k NPC (using a civilian railgun!)
No cruiser/battleship losses so far, the time will come though.

Two Merlins, both to bugs. One right at the start of retail, which kinda sucked. One recently when undocking and facing a blackscreen for 3 minutes. 'course, this is when someone decides to claim my bounty.

1 merlin to gate guns before I worked out missile splash damage was.
1 merlin and pod to a guy in a megathron who was 'bored'
1 moa to npcs - warped in and found myself less than 10km away from a spawn of 3 20k and 3 30k rats, warp scrambled and webbed...it didn't take long lol
1 badger and pod to triniton and hatur - had managed to escape them at the jump-in, only to have them follow me to the gate

One Stabber to Concord while hitting my first Amarr, found out the hard way Concord don't like players attacking other players in 0.6 space... It was my first cruiser and only became 2 days old, but still got my kill though...
...and with the light all life vanished... |

HA! Camar you B******...I remember you loosing the stabber...you were gonna sell it to me for like 2.7M (really cheap at the time) when you got your new Rupture. I was gutted at the time! I am glad though that MY sacrifice to the cause was worth it

I've lost a crapload of stowers, frigates and cruisers plus one scorp, all due to bugs, i.e. I had a bug up my @ss and was in an area I shouldn't have been in doing stuff I shouldn't have been doing. It was all fun, except once.

Rupture to NPCs: I'd never heard of chaining at the time, and just couldn't get all the 40 and 50Ks to die.
Iteron III to solo gatecamper.
Blackbird to "Darwin" (well actually SI, but when you're the only EW in a force going up against 3 Scorps and a Raven, you gotta count your own stupidity as the main thing that got you killed.
Haven't been podded yet, but SI's torp splash got me to 10ish % armour on the pod

I don't know about fear of losing them, but I don't *like* losing them because replacing them is inconvenient and usually requires time wasted either mining, shopping around or waiting for your normal supplier to do 1 or the other.
That said I put platinum insurance on my Scorp, so I am assuming I'll get into a lethal fight in the next couple of weeks or I did kinda waste 21 mil. I find platinum insurance 100% calms my worries about losing a ship:)
Platinum insurange is at least as much peace of mind as flying a cruiser, and it allows you to be as courageous as you want with nothing to lose but your clone.

I thought I was the only one who lost so many Thoraxes. As much as I love them, I always get caught mining without a weapon.
I used to fly around in my newbie ship and start fights with frigates and cruisers then beg them not to freeze me. I've lost about 10 newbie ships. About 5 Bestowers to JIP and gate campers.

Hmmmm i lost:
-1 stabber - i unerestimated range and power of sentry guns
-1 inquisitor to pirat: i self destructed and run in pod (he scrambled my frigate)
-1 probe in suicidal attack on npc (last day of insurance and i don`t really need that ship anymore)
-0 pods

I've only ever lost 1 ship to another player and that was a Scorpion to Poxie, Hyperbaton, and Acidic Sliver at HED-GP.
Wasn't too bothered - got it replaced immediately and, because my corp. mates are so great, they politely destroyed Acidic's Apoc and Hype's Scorpion.
I also got most of my modules back from my loot can and what Hyperbaton left
Lost plenty of frigates to NPC's and one cruiser.
