What I don't understand is the perception by a lot of people in this game (mostly new ones) that all player corps are bad. Because all player corps are either full of bastards who will try and lock you into the corp and make you mine forever and ever, or that if you join a player corp you are automatically going to get war dec'd by someone.
Seriously, where does this come from? Only very few corps get randomly war dec'd nowadays anyway. And if you want to join a decent corp you can always go to the Recruitment forum and look around in there, or hell, even make a post asking to be recruited by a certain type of corp.

According to your logic why should anyone drive? We'll just all end up in an accident and be mangled for the rest of our lives..
Do these things happen? Yes. Do these things happen to EVERYONE *ALL* the time? No.
I'm not that bad! I'm willing to hear peeps out. I'm just cautious, is all.
There is being cautious and paralyzing yourself with fear. How many people have you personally known any of your fears to happen to? I've been in 2 pretty large corps and 1 semi-small one since I've played and the only thing I've "endured" was a CEO taking half the corp wallet upon leaving. It was no skin off my nose. It wasn't *my* money directly and it wasn't even that much (600m).
The amount of griefing on the level you are suggesting (locking you in by reassigning roles, etc) happens very, VERY rarely and its usually involves a story about how it happened to someone's cousin's roommate's ex-GF's dog's former owner.. It is appealable and CCP will give warnings/suspensions to players caught doing that.
If you happen to join a corp full or idgets, well you simply leave. They can only take things from you if you CHOOSE to put them in the public hangars. They CANNOT reach into your personal station hangar(s).
Contrary to popular belief, you do NOT get 100 wardecs the moment you make your own corp with some friends.
Some of the paranoia I read on these forums makes me wonder why said people don't just play a solo player space sim while in mIRC.. ----------

>sigh<
As I said, I haven't found a corp that floats my boat and at the same time doesn't expect too much of me. The last thing I need is to join a corp that starts biting my head off for not being there when they wanted me - usually not giving me the oppurtunity to make my excuse. And some corps I've come across can be a bit pushy. Like phone salesmorons.
Another thing is I shouldn't be expected to jump into EVE and immediately scream "I need a corp!" That isn't my way, and it wasn't my way when I started playing Guild Wars. I chose to shop around... nothing wrong with doing that, is there?
Finally, it's easy to get talking to peeps in noob-corp. If I did find a corp I liked (or formed one) it might prove difficult for me to make that final step...

Actually that's not how the game works, it seems to be how people "work". It's not a piece of code which makes peeps assume who is an alt or not.
Originally by: Rod Blaine NPC corp members don't matter in politics, wars, or anything except high sec empire trade for that matter. On the other hand, they are often associated with alt spies, alt trolls, alt haulers, alt farmers, alt thieves, alt scammers or simply people that can't bear to run risks or play as part of a corp.
Or maybe I just haven't found a corp that tickles my fancy, or I feel I can work with.
Make your own.

So true. I didn't started looking for a corp as soon as I got back to the game, but I did make my own corp as soon as I could. Noobcorp chat has it's funny moments but did that made me stay for one second longer than I had to? Hell no. On the other hand all my alts are in noob corps, this kind of proves the point ---

And how do you expect me to "deal with it"? Join a corp full of immature retards that go out of their way to lock you in by switching your role every 24 hours, or mine my backside off for the 15+ mill needed to form my own?

Fun reply Snarl
We distrust you because you are in a NPC corp! How you dare distrust us because we are in a PC corp!

You know, after reading the fourms I will be very wary of entering a corp. Luckily I first entered a corp then started reading the forums.

Its too bad that you haven't been able to find a decent corp, unfortunatley your situation dosn't really matter. Like i said before just the fact that you are in an npc corp is enough to make people think you are an alt. It isnt because you are a bad person, and it isnt because people dislike you. It is simply because 80% or so of people in noob corps are people's alts. Yes, it is unfair to the legitimate people in a npc corp, unfortunatley Eve is not really about being fair.
