Agree to some extent. CCP Arrow lead the new icons effort. (and all the UI/UX stuff) I hate the new icons. When he left I was hoping the UI/UX stuff would chill a bit... but then we got the camera changes...
I really think CCP is adding way to much UI. I want to look at the space and the ships and not have everything covered up by UI. (but im getting a bit off topic here)

I always imagined game industry as very fluid work market and you have to change often the projects in this business. When I see how long people can stay in CCP, I think its something unusual.

Agree but when its the lead designer.. Its more of a big deal.
Eg CCP Scarpia was the new CCP Soundwave in EVEs hierarchy.

Well, bringing mainstream talent to Iceland is difficult... you could argue that any talent willing to trade anywhere on Earth but Brussels for Reykjavik, is not exactly normal.
(But then, if CCP opened an office in my home town, things would be quite different... )

So...this star status...these guys are keeping the ship from sinking...or, seeking new horizons to conquer? Recent events negate the latter, and I'm not so convinced of the former. If a "dev" speaks to someone, that dev is now the hero holding the thing together. I'm not ready to confer Richard Burton Movie Star status on a CCP dev. Sorry.

My couple of minutes of looking into this turns up that he is now the co-founder of http://www.solfar.com/about-avenue/
Given how much CCP has been working with people in VR, this actually isn't a terrible surprise.
I wish him the best of luck on his new venture.

People come and go in companies all the time, sadly it sone of the things that happens. Sometimes this is a sign that a company is going under, sometimes its a sign that the company will now improve (if say the person who bailed was the one dragging it under) and sometimes, its nothing.
CCP seems to be on stable footing atm, though we really dunno. But who cares? He was a guy doing a job. End of story. Good luck Scarpia, wish you could of made a mobile eve CCG but meh

Whats with all the doomsayers? Its not uncommon for people to move on from one business to another for a variety of reasons. Its not uncommon for people to be let go from a company for variety of reasons. While everyone seems to think this is the beginning of the end, its actually really healthy in the corporate world. In fact, its unhealthy( business wise) to keep the same people doing the same high level jobs for long periods. There are actually many companies( doubt CCP is one of them) in which middle and upper level employees spend no more than 2-4 years in the same job because its considered bad for the company and bad for the employee.
I would be worried if CCPs dev team never changed, not if they had people leaving and new people joining.

Don't forget this is the EVE for which we have just as many gripes as praise. I am inclined to believe that people have been leaving CCP for a few years now because they want a few jobs between them and CCP before the company implodes. I'm more inclined to believe that while working on a virtual harsh cold universe is one thing, living in harsh cold Iceland is something else entirely. Great place to visit, but not a place I'd want to settle down and work in for long.
People just don't realize what they're getting themselves into when they accept that CCP job offer and it takes its toll on them sooner than later. They jump at the first offer in a nice warm country.

Solfar looks more like scion to develop other IPs that is outside of the EVE universe. Makes perfect sense and since they share the same founders, a zaibatsu or conglomerate relationship between Solfar and CCP isn't totally out of the question, unless of course they left with bad blood.
