Hi guys,
I've recently moved from Amarr to Angels space and because I am Amarr specilised I find it difficult to fly laser boats there. I would really like to stick to Amarr ship line even though I know that its not ideal. I tried to fly cruise missile armageddon with a moderate success. My current fit is similar to this and its doing roughly 800 dps:

There are two empty med slots which I can't fit because I run out of CPU power. My skill set: http://eveboard.com/pilot/Mtroyan/ and I should have around 1 mil of unlocated sp to inject if some skills are vital for the fit to work.
Can you give me a hand with some suggestions of what should be changed to make this fit more viable? In eft it says that cap should last 5 minutes, whereas in the game its says 1 minute :(. |

Angels rats have a high EM resistance which is the primary damage type of lasers thus laser ships are very inefficient against Angels rats. Additionally, Angels rats all tend to orbit close and move faster than other rats which can lead to tracking issues depending on your setup.

I've linked a cheap MJD snipe geddon setup. You want to keep it T2 as much as possible if you're ratting in null cause you'll probably eventually lose it.
Does a very solid 920 dps with Fury Cruise missiles and with 2 rigors you should be able to use fury missiles reliably against Battlecruiser and Battleship sized rats for full damage while using your sentries to clear the smaller stuff. Sensor booster should generally be left unscripted as it gives you around 100km lock range which matches your cruise missile range, drone control range and sentry range and a little bit of extra scan res. Also an MJD to get to range, you can swap it for an MWD or AB if you're going to warp in at range anyway.

Are angel ships on Angel Extravaganza in Amarr space are different from angel ships on Angel blocade in Minmatar space? Thousands poeple did, do and will do AE with bonus room, EA 5/5, Scarlett (angel variant) and storyline missions against Minmatar in Amarr space with laser boats, and when they move to Minmatar space suddenly their ships did not work just because??!!! I only fly Amarr ships and use energy turrets. I like the Navy Omen, Navy Apocalypse and Navy Armageddon and only use the pulse laser turrets with either Scorch or Imperial Navy Multifrequency.
To be entirely fair, Amarr ships with lasers are not ideal for Angels or Guristas. Some of the ships in Angel Extravaganza have a very high resistance to EM and Therm with Kin and Exp as the lowest resistance. I use Caldari drones to augment my damage type against these NPCs.
IMHO, Angel Extravaganza is definitely doable in an Amarr ship with laser turrets; although it probably takes longer than if I had the right type of missions or projectile ammo.
Nevertheless, I have struggled with The Assault - Guristas. The BS have very high resistance to both EM and Therm. I have to get within the Imperial Navy Multifrequency range to destroy them. Their shields recharge too quickly for Scorch.
It sounds plausible enough tonight, but wait until tomorrow. Wait for the common sense of the morning.

I second the typhoon. But there's nothing stopping you shield tanking the geddon, will give a stronger tank vs angels. |

I tried the geddon in the past and I had much more fun with navy geddon.
The amount of oomph you can squeeze from navy geddon is great.
but if you use drones and missiles just take rattlesnake \ gila instead. |

A number of ideas on your fit so I will go another way here with comments.
Laser ships are big on PG with small CPU which goes directly against the realities of missiles especially cruise which needs big CPU but not so much PG. In other words wrong weapons type for the ship and your open mids because no CPU are the biggest indicators of this.
Next up is this crazy idea that there is an "optimal" ship or fitting for a specific ship. Once you move from the theoretical world of a fitting tool the whole crazy idea of "optimal" dies because it runs into the twin walls known as player preferences and character skills. In other words what is an optimal fit for me is not likely to be an optimal fit for you. The whole notion of optimal in the context of missions fails again because you did not tell us how you prefer to run missions. The Marauders are incredible mission ships for those who tend towards the full clear and salvage style, on the other hand they are definitely not the best for those who want to blitz. I can go on but I hope my point is made.
Final thoughts. If you want to fly your geddon then go back to lasers and augment them with mission specific drone choices it will work better than what you are doing now.
But the best answer is this one.

First of all, why would you assume they're doing missions? Look at the CORP/ALLIANCE, they're null sec based.
Secondly, looking at your skills, I'd suggest immediately stop training your drone stuff and finish getting into a Marauder. A paladin, while the wrong damage type can still do decently and allows you to keep inline with your desire to use Amarr ships. Not to mention sexy utility highs which can be used for smart bombs which means you don't have to shoot at angel frigates anymore. Just let them pile up and turn on the fireworks.
3rdly and my preferred option, is just put some skills toward projectile weapons or Caldari battleship and use the correct damage profile.
Also..Why are you asking on eve forums? Ask your corp/alliance mates who live there for their suggestions/fits. Then again it's TEST...so the troll could run strong. |
