My leaders,
I write to you worried about the political tensions inside the Republic, brought to the surface by the death of Karishal Muritor.
Before I go any further, I want to stress that I understand and accept the reasons that lead to this action, and as ever I stand with my nation. I, personally, also fully support the current government, and I think I understand the reasoning behind the current practice of silence.
However, many citizens, and especially many pilots, do not.
It is easy for us to say they are fools, they are stupid, they are short-sighted, they are battle-crazy, they do not understand the big picture. I know I have said this, and many other ungraceful things, before. However, with the recent events it is evident that if this continues, the rift in our people will soon be beyond mending. Short-sighted and battle-crazy or not, many of the pilots who are so extremely dissatisfied with the government are still citizens of this nation, and heroes of the people, and their words carry a lot of weight.
We are on the verge of a civil war. It is obvious this policy of silence is not working as intended.
So, I ask you, elders, what are you doing to prevent this madness from happening? How do you answer those pilots who do not see the rationale in your actions, who see our nation as a failure? What are your orders to those of us who would defend this nation with our lives, even against our own brothers and sisters?
I remain loyal,

The elders should have acted long before this when millions of refugees fled the Republic amidst internal strife and civil war. Maybe we're seeing a new breed of Ammatars looking to sell out their people for personal indulgences and power.
It would seem Midular has much more to worry about than the death of one rogue pilot. If she's not careful, there won't be anyone around to hear her deafening silence.

Speaking only for myself I understand entirely the pretense behind their policy of silence. But that does not mean we should resign ourselves to that being the one true way of governance. Back through history and even now on a smaller lever Matari society demonstrates that we work better as a collective. The Rebellion is no exception to that rule.
There was no silence between the people and those that lead. I abhore this myself in my own clan and also in the Ushra'Khan. That is why I like to see to it, as well as my fellow council members, that all matters are highlighted regularly for our people to see. Dispel rumour with fact and keep no secrets.
The minute we do we generate a 'them and us' way of life that detaches one from the other. We are standing there now and have done for quite some time. Silence may be the best policy for running a Midular style of government. What is different between that and the Gallente Senate or the Caldari CEP? Nothing. Midular's constant tight lipped attitude along with her whole office of government is what is wrong.
I recall this very point had been present in some form or another in previous internal disputes too. Only once have I seen Midular respond directly beyonf the veil of press releases and she said nothing of value beyond the boiled down message of 'Like it or lump it. I'm in charge here.'
That is why I personally see no rational in their actions. ------

I seriously hope this letter does not fall on deaf ears.
So in war, the way is to avoid what is strong and to strike at what is weak.

I doubt that the Ammatar are an honorable and enlightened group of people thus to accuse them of "selling out" is a mockery of those who have reached the path of Enlightenment and walked down it instead of running away as cowards would.
It is clear the Ammatar are in servitude to God and live in the shadow of the Amarr. Just as I a Ni-Kunni know I will never be as close to God as a pure Amarrian the Ammatar know their place as well. Thus there are no "personal indulgences and power" instead the calm quiet realization of all a life in service to God brings.

I too would like to see some word from our leaders about this situation.
They must realise that Karishal Muritor and his Defiant's appeared as a beacon of hope to a large number of Minmatar pilots. That his actions had a profound effect on them, and that his death in this manner has aroused great anger amongst those pilots.
Silence over this affair AND the Insorium affair is creating unrest and distrust and many pilots simply cannot understand the silence.
I hope all the posturing here from both the Pro and Anti Republican pilots does not degenerate into a civil war.
Our people have already been divided too many times. Of the tribes the Starkmanir are destroyed, the Nefanter seduced by the Amarr, the Thukker did not join the Republic. Then the people themselves are split; only a quarter of our people are in the Republic, a third are still slaves of the Amarr and a fifth have left for the Gallente Federation.
I do not care to think about what a civil war might do to us. We all feel a storm on the horizon, the smell of war on the breeze. We will need every pilot, every ship, every round and every missile to survive what is coming and yet with each passing day of silence our leaders push us closer to tearing ourselves apart.
I know people on both sides of this debate, I urge you all to stop with the rhetoric for a moment, to consider what a civil war will do to the Matari. Then join together in a call on our government and the Republic Fleet to explain what took place and their reasoning for those decisions.

If you receive no orders from your silent government, will you take it upon yourselves to attack those you feel are extremely dissatisfied with their government?
