So I fly around in my Tristan and rat with a friend. I Salvage the wrecks and in my cargo hold it will say the estimated price is 7M for example. I'll go to a station and sell everything and only actually get like 700K. Also not everything will sell, for some reason I can't sell certain things. I just highlight my whole inventory and sell at the suggested price or whatever, I don't set my own price. Is that wrong? Also I don't sell at trade hubs just any random station, does that make a difference.

First off the market in this game is a complicated thing. Mastering it is an entire aspect to this game and probably one of the biggest and most competitive.
That being said I can give a few hints:
First go into your market UI and there is a gear wheel just to the right of the "search" button. Click on that and first thing make sure that you uncheck "show only available and then make sure range is set to "Region".
After that you have to know that if you just click sell it is going to only sell to buy orders that are available to you at that station. Also this is a player driven market so pretty much everything bought or sold on the market is purchased or sold by players.
There are things called market hubs where things typically sell for closer to their median value or better said where the difference between buy price and sell price is much closer.
You can sell items. They might sit on the market for a while but you will likely get a better price.
If items are not buying for much where you are you might be able to buy those items that your cargohold tells you are worth 7 million or 800K and then move them to a market hub and sell them for 6 million making a good profit.
Finally I do believe that the value of items bottoms out at roughly the value of the minerals if said item were to be reprocessed. So while a certain module might only be buying for 70K on the local market you might be able to reprocess it into 200K worth of minerals. |

In order to sell something, another player has to buy it. With only a few exceptions, NPCs don't buy anything from you.
There are two ways trading on the market can happen: Buy orders and sell orders.
Buy Orders: A player wants a certain item and creates a buy order. If you just right click an item -> Sell Item -> Sell, then you are probably filling a buy order of another player. Buy order prices are lower than sell order prices (if they werent, someone would just get rich in that situation really quickly) If you do that at the ass-end of nowhere, you are likely filling a region wide bulk buy order of some scrap-tycoon and the price is probably terrible. If you want to sell quickly and get at least a half-decent price, go to a tradehub to sell your stuff (Jita, Amarr, Rens, Dodixie mainly)
Sell Orders: A player wants to sell a certain item and creates a sell order. If you just browse the market for items, you are seeing a list of sell orders. Sell orders are more expensive than buy orders.
If you want to get the highest price for your loot, you will have to sell it in a place where people will buy your stuff, and you will have to make sell orders, and wait for them to get bought.
If you want to pay the cheapest price for something, you will have to make a buy order, and wait for people to fill it.
As you see - to make the best of what you have, you will have to be patient. That's Eve in a nutshell. |

The key issue you are coming up against is that the market doesn't teleport items. EVER.
You are selling in places that buyers don't want your stuff, so they are paying you peanuts as a result.

When I was doing what you are doing, I used to stock pile the goods in my home station then every now and again go through the stock.
I would pick out all the high value items, then reprocess everything else. From the reprocessing you will get a ton of Trit and Pyerite and much less of the other minerals. Put the Trit and Pyerite up on a Sell order for 90% of their listed value, assuming a suitable Buy order isn't available. Then haul the other minerals and the high value items off to a Market Hub to sell.
That is simple/quick mode, not the most profitable. If you are market orientated you can make a lot more by being more organised and spending more time on it. Simply hauling everything to a market hub will make more money.
Never blindly sell a bunch of items en mass to whatever buy orders are available, especially outside of a market hub, that is a sure fire way to lose a packet.

Make sure to sort the orders properly.
Click on the price column header to change the sorting. You will note that there are more than ascending and descending!
Buy orders: sort so that highest prices is at the top, regardless of the distance (jumps).
Sell orders: sort so that the lowest price is at the top, regardless of the distance (jumps).
Make sure to enable region-wide order visibility (gear icons = options). You may also want to hide orders in lowsec and nulsec. |

The estimated price is, I believe, the weighted average price of all sales of the item.
If you post your items as sell orders, often this will be above the average price.
If you sell your items into existing buy orders, then this will usually be below the average price, sometime way below. The advantage of doing this is that you get the money immediately, whereas with a sell order, you would have to wait for someone to buy your item.
Doing any trade away from Jita or another trade hub will usually result in a worse price. The exception is when you try to sell an item people need remotely and are will to pay higher prices for to avoid the inconvenience of going to Jita.
As a rule, for items like salvage, to get near the estimated price, your procedure should be:
(1) collect items together
(2) transport items to Jita Caldari Navy Assembly Plant (4.4)
(3) create a sell order for each item that is near the "estimated price" EVE shows
You will have to wait for the item to sell before you receive your money. |

Just a tip OP.
You've lost ISK here due to selling in bad places. Some trader has bought up those items and resold them more carefully.
Have you considered doing what this trader is doing to make money out of other people?

Eve is split into regions.
If you are in region X, the sell & buy orders in region D are outside your trading range to see the buy & sell orders there, you have to travel to region D
or use an alt market toon or use a 3rd party web app like eve-central
look at the different market tabs the history page has useful info on pricing trends learn what the graph means to your wallet |
