Just put two text fields and simple onChange JavaScript to clear the one you are not editing now. Will save you two radio buttons. |

You got me thinking. Thanks.

Users want to know quickly how much of an impact their ISK or Dollars will go. That's what this is for.

Ah, but having those radiobuttons at all will annoy users, though I agree one field is easier on the eyes.
I cannot imagine a situation where someone who initially converted 1B Isk to dollars would suddenly want to convert 1B dollars to ISK though, or the other way around, so clearing on radiobuttons would not be a terrible idea. I wouldn't do clear on click, because that means you cannot edit the amount you enter other than entering it in again.
And, no offense, it look awesome (the titan project), but it doesn't really show in any way how this means that people are doing simple math themselves, just the opposite (much more convenient, that is). How long have you been at this?

Callean Drevus wrote:I cannot imagine a situation where someone who initially converted 1B Isk to dollars would suddenly want to convert 1B dollars to ISK though, or the other way around, It comes in handy when I buy Plex from CCP.
Step 1: Figure out what you want to buy and the ISK cost in game. Step 2: Type it here http://ISK.TheAlphaCompany.net Step 3: Figure out how many plexes you'll need.
It auto retrieves the median price of Plex in game. Very accurate.
So the next step, development wise, is to show how many Plexes the user will need to buy from CCP.
And that's one way to use the ISK to Dollars Conversion Option
The latter (USD to ISK), can be used in conjunction with receiving donations. We take cash donations for the Titan Project.
See Example: http://isk.thealphacompany.net/?isk=100&conversion=usdtoisk
Callean Drevus wrote:...Oh, the view all submissions link appears to not be working. The Titan Project is still a project in development. Maybe next month i'll showcase it more.
That page is supposed to show the total donations each player has made in an ISK Value. In conjunction with the target selling price of the Titan itself, this page would showcase how much of a payment each donor/investor would receive for his contribution.
It's a complex little page. Should be done in a week or so. But this topic is about the EVE ISK to USD Converter anyway. |

It always retrieves the median price of Plex. Helps to keep everything accurate. |

Yes but for one you are not maintaining a constant connection, you are just querying it at a set interval. Also im pretty sure you don't have access to the main database; you, like the rest of us, have access to an API that talks to a cache layer that sit on top of it. |

Also i'm pretty sure he's not pulling EVE API, but rather - EVE-central or other market API made available by 3rd parties. |

I was intrigued by that note. Going to have to be one or more of four things:
1. bs. 2. someone trying to sound smart and not doing a very good job. 3. actually having a macroed/scripted/thin client maintaining a connection. 4. pulling market data from 3rd party sites.
Personally I think it's a combination of 1, 2 and 4.
I'm also apparently worth about $185k. damn, I lost value.
Oh, and it's "persistent", and "persistent connection" should not be capitalized.
