Edited by: Jr Grae on 06/02/2007 02:30:31 I want to be able to get to 0.0 asap. Not sure if I can handle it though. Help me decide what to fly in Serpentis space... My Skills

While I've been using a Vexor quite successfully to rat in Syndicate 0.0 recently, I would suggest picking up Drone Interfacing and getting it to 3+ before taking on any spawns. Thorax, I don't fly blaster boats so I can't tell you. But the Vexor works pretty well. |

I vote vexor in general, but you do seem to have more gunnery skills. You can fit a 1600mm plate and not gimp your primary weapon which is drones, allowing you to tank better. Then you orbit outside of their optimal range while your drones work on them. No ammo to run out either.

Edited by: DiuxDium on 06/02/2007 02:48:42 I'd say thorax.
You can field the 5x Medium drones. MWD to the BS's and use your tranversal to avoid all damage. The drones can be used to take out frigates and weaker cruisers, while your blasters chew through the BS's.
I've had great success doing just this when I needed a nimble ship to avoid mobile gank squads while ratting.
e: I'll mention I have Drone Interfacing 4. And T2 Medium Blasters. So that makes a big difference. I use T1 ammo, and there's not a big difference between best named \ t2 other than fitting when it comes to blasters loaded with AM. --------------- PvP in EvE is not consentual.

Edited by: Jr Grae on 06/02/2007 03:00:31 Thanks for the advise on the drone skills. That actually has me believing that I should get into a Vexor. I ran some quick damage stats against a normal thorax in Quickfit, and it out-damages the Thorax with that skill. Anyone else have some interesting things to say?
I agree that the lack of T2 blasters is a big drawback, and I plan on working on it as soon as I finish my fitting skills (which I've neglected till now ) But I need to get into 0.0 asap so I can actually start making ISK to fund my evetual Brutix purchase

I get about 350dps with just a standard T1 Thorax. The thing about 0.0 ratting in a rax, is you don't really need to tank.
Just fit a Kinetic\Thermal Hard, and a SAR II. Then just dispatch the frigates\cruisers asap, and orbit BS's. You can tank 1 1m isk BS with just the SAR II and the Hards if there's more than one. With the MWD you can get in and under those guns real quick.
I'd seriously suggest the Thorax. More DPS. --------------- PvP in EvE is not consentual.

Well, I keep going back and forth with this issue. But I might get back into a Thorax after I get some skills up...In 13 hours I can get my DPS up considerably, so I might just hold off till after the day of training (tomorrow, unemployment ftw )
Besides it'll get me used to the way the ship set up feels, since its almost exact to the Brutix, which as mentioned, is my ultimate goal at the moment.
Thanks for all the advise!

I would definitely say use a Vexor for 0.0 ratting. You don't have to worry about ammo, and you never have to worry about nossing those BS dry. Luckily, you're too small to get hit by the big guys, so just orbit at 1km, unleash your drones, and go to town. Make sure to take out the frigs/cruisers first, always. I've far more skill in Gunnery than drones, yet I prefer drone ships (Domi/Vexor) any day for ratting. Not having to lug around ammo is a HUGE asset, and in 0.0 let's just say cruising around shopping isn't the best of ideas. Fit a few nos, tractor beams, mwd or ab (your preference) cap rechargers, 1 rep, and hardeners then you're set. It can be slow at times, but it's great money, and no big deal if you happen to lose your ship.

Nothing against the Thorax, I do love that ship, however I don't see it as a ratting ship. Unless you are fitting rails, not really a viable option IMO. While you can run MWD, it takes forever to close 20km in a Thorax to get within blaster range, especially with low skills. ---------

No, it doesn't. A close range cruiser works quite well against BS rats.

In Serpentis space, an Angel cruiser would certainly be "out of the blue."
