I went down there for a couple of days to work on some marketing projects with our division down there, just got back last night. What a great place, no traffic jams, great scenery, no hobos pushing shopping carts, not a gang-banger in sight. And the food was just fantastic. Compare that to working in the bay area in CA, it was like nirvana.
I can't wait to go back.

You didn't find the hobos or the gangbangers because you weren't in the right areas, and because you weren't watching the news.
I'd appreciate it if you stop talking about my home state lest the ******** Californians move in and mess it all up. And yes, this place is FAR more preferable than Bay Area CA-many people in states in the western US that aren't on the coast want that place wiped off the map with a tactical nuke. |

I figured the crystal people in Santa Fe were all from cali. Also you're right to be scared. Phoenix is now ripe with former LA. types... It put Scottsdale on the douchebag map. |

New Mexico is fixing to become "disputed territory" in the future. As the USA goes bankrupt - or shows it because it's already there - it may fall apart. There is already a movement claiming ownership of the Southwest (funded by the Rockefellers and Ford Foundation of course) so I would think twice about living there any time soon.
And yes, you also have to consider "California infestation" . These are people who wrecked California to the point of it being unlivable, then they move, but being tards, bring the same socialistic mentality with them that ruined their home state, and then continue to vote for politicians and push the same policies that made their home state such a wreck.
Californians have wrecked Oregon and Washington so bad that if you go to any small towns in Montana with a California, Oregon, or Washington tag, they will break out your windows and slash your tires as a message to "go back the f**k where you come from we don't want you here" and to be honest, I cannot blame them. Democracy is so weaponized towards oppression via the voting of idiots that what they do in Montana may be the only last line of defense. |

Don't go to Socorro, unless you like ghost towns and Nuclear Bomb Test remnants... Not Kidding!!! In the downtown square of Socorro, there is the empty shell to one of the first nuclear test cells, on a pedestal. I think I'm sterile just from the one visit.
I did some work on the VLA in Magdelana when I worked for the NRAO. |

Mexico and New Mexico are quite different. We don't kill people who aren't cartel members.
OF course, you could argue that it's RL PVP.
People sometimes call NM the Land of Entrapment (a play on the state catchphrase) but it's really not so bad if you live in Albuquerque- it's like any other bigger city. And yes, Socorro is not a place to visit, though the Socorro Springs Brewery has awesome beer and food. |

New Mexico Tech grad reporting in you need to see the MRO and yes i lived in socorro for 7 years, besides you forgot to mention el cam and brewpub you jerk, pumpkin beer \o/.
Anyway......... city is clean however the se side of abq near between the base and central is a very shady area. Personally I would not drive on central at night in abq or on mlk jr blvd.
Also there is little veitnam in abq where if you watch the police patrols you will see them turn around and leave fast. |

I go to NM twice a year. It's very much polar opposite land, the only place in America where you can find a hardcore conservative gun toting NRA fanatic having lunch with a pot smoking artistic hippie that lives in the desert in his eco dome. It's pretty with good food, but I couldn't live there for any extended period of time. It's blistering hot in the summer, and freezing in the winter. |

Yeah, NM isn't really solidly "red" or "blue". It's more of a "do whatevr the **** you feel like doing as long as you aren't messing with me" kind of place. |

Do the northern New Mexico thing. Or go a little farther and hang out in Pagosa Springs or Alamosa in Colorado, just not during the dead of winter unless you want to hit Wolf Creek Pass and ski.  |
