I have heard that can mining will be removed with the castor patch. If this is true I beleive it to be a large mistake. Mining is already similar to real work to make it less productive either in empire space or in non empire space is to remove it largly from the game. I will not mine with secure cans in any space as they simply dont hold enough ore. Some of us dont want to move to 0.0 space as we are not fighters and get no enjoyment from mining and being on edge. I would think most mining inclined people also have multiple accounts I have 3 accounts all 3 support my main character which is a miner. If I have no use for my support accounts I will cancel them as will my other friends that have same set up I have. In short to nerf mining is to fubar well layed out plans that took a lot of time to implement thus souring miners on the game.

Would have to agree. Mining is already to much like RL work. Nerfing it anymore will just make it even less fun. Also with the addition of those BS pirates. It will take 4 BS to guard a mining party. Most corps do not have that kinda time/resources just to mine scord.

Thats true. It's only going to affect the small corps. There needs to be the ability for the small guy to make isk. If not they'll only look somewhere else

Many in are corp are very unhappy with a can mining nerf in any way shape or form or relegating it to cruisers only , we have spent months training are characters for battleship mining any nerf to mining may make us all quit this game as most of us are realtime friends and follow each other to what ever game we decide to play. Yes I know most will say well leave if you dont like it, but I feel it is are duty to let CCP know how we feel before we leave. I have also noticed a trend to nerf with a sledge hammer instead of tweaking a problem. What I am trying to say is we are hard core gamers and usally stay in a game for a few years but to totally mess up are long term training is to make are long worked on characters useless and we will not start over in a game that can be totally changed on a whim.

More baseless rumors AFAICT. I haven't heard mention of this in any patch log, CSM, update, or forum thread.

The battleship nerf was specifically in reference to Empire mining. I doubt their solution is to get rid of can mining altogether, or shrink cans, or make it so only cruisers can jet cans, or any of the other crazy rumors going around.
Most likely they will alter roid' distribution and spawn rates to make Empire mining in a battleship much less profitable. This isn't really "unacceptable," though some might argue it's unecessary.

I agree completely with what the others have said above. Any mining nerf will be regarded as unacceptable to me. Mining is already hard enough work, 0.0 mining takes skill and pratice to perfect. I have trained my character a specific way for this purpose. To nerf mining basicly makes this game unplayable for me. I unlike most people actually enjoy mining, to take the one thing I like about the game away forces me to lose all desire for this game. Please do not do this, no mining nerf is needed.

What I got from the CSM was that the refinery in Empire space will take more of the "WE TAKE" column making bulk refining not worth the money... there by reducing empire mining by not making it profitable.
Sure, you can mine it but then you would have to haul it out of empire space... which would be stupid when the same roids are out there too. ------------------------------------------------ Serve the State Join Channel CAINCOM |

If people would just clean up after themselves i dont think it would be an issue
All these secure containers cluttering up space is annoying though. _______________________________________________

its hard enough adjusting to nerfing in any shape or form for long term players cos u have to change the way u have played for ages. But to nerf the mining in anyway shape or form will definitely make me close my 2nd account. If I can't make enough ISKs from mining in the same amount of time as i do now then that is total crap after letting me train for this for 5 months to then take it away...As u all know..mining is like a real job..u work long and hard(mentally) to then be able to buy your rewards. This will be the biggest mistake ever. Charge us more for refine...non empire space mining.u think theres a shortage of Mega & Zyd..nerf mining and watch everything collapse...I say leave MINING ALONE...it bad enough as it is.

You have got 3 Accounts to Support your main.. who is a Miner??
*thinks maybe CCp might be doing you a favour 'if' they nerfy mining...

He's not alone either... believe it or not I know a LOT of players that have multiple accounts most of which are geared towards mining. How many of them do you think will close their second and third accounts if those miners get nerfed? This game isn't exactly on a healthy footing account-wise as it is - expect those numbers to continue to dwindle away when/if the miner-nerf hits.
I have 3 acounts, 2 of them miners. Those two accounts are cancelled if mining becomes even more boring and un-profitable.

Mining will still be the same. The only difference is that mining outside empire space will be more cost effective than mining IN empire space. The "WE TAKE", from what I gathered, was just inside the empires.
So before everyone closes this account and that account, try and move out to 0.0 and set up shop there. If it still doesnt suit your fancy, well at least you tried. ------------------------------------------------ Serve the State Join Channel CAINCOM |

I must say mining is boring as watching paint dry and anything to make it a little more interesting, even if it gets a little more dificult will be a god send. Stop your moaning and accept that its not a game that caters for just one type of player, Adapt you fools!!!
You want it I got it....erm unless I sold it, then some one else has it!?! :/

One question about the "we take".
Whats to stop a BS mining ore and giving it to another char without the BS skill?
Is the BS mined ore somehow tagged when extracted from the roids?

No, from what I understand all refining in Empire space will have a higher percentage of "WE TAKE" from the refineries. So, everyone who refines in empire space (dont know it the percentage is higher in 1.0 than in .9 but I would imagine so) will refine at a lower yield. You can still mine in Empire space and then transport it, but that seems like a collassal waste of time. ------------------------------------------------ Serve the State Join Channel CAINCOM |

The "We TAKE" sounds like a reason to BS mine in Empire space as opposed to any other ship, if the "We Take" goes up surely you want as many lasers and drones as possible eating rock to counteract that.

Sounds reasonable, however a lot of players will expect significant returns on their mining activities for the risk involved.
spending hours and hours mining is like torture enough already, with many miners only willing to go through the process so they can set up in industry and progress to PVP.
Ah.. i forgot.... Deep core mining is supposed to fix that....

Bro read the Dev chats Helgar said to voice you opinions before the game is changed as its easier to not change something than it is to undo a change to the game.

So what you are saying is that all the big corps that are located in empire space are gonna have to pay more for ore/minerals because of this "we take more" thing???? And this is going to reduce empire BS mining how?? If this change goes through it will provide more incentive for mining in empire space with BS's, LOL.
Hellmar stated that some element of risk was to be brought in to deal with BS mining in empire space. I haven't heard anything in that area as of yet.
exbrother miners if they nerf the refine in empire space, smile, it will make you richer. If you can catch me you can have me. |

Um, are they planning on adding player stations if we cant refine in empire space anymore?
And does this help newbies at all? I dont think it does.
I mean, i dont mine in empire space for money anyways, there are alot better ways to make money. But what about newbies that dont have a good source of income? and no refining skills of adequete levels? Its not like they can expect to go into the war zones of 0.0 space where stations accually exist and expect to survive, nor can they afford a BB or miner IIs so they bring in enough minerals to offset the reduced yeilds.
Seems like a pretty crappy quick fix if you ask me.
Personally i would have re-added spod, and gotten space stations and platforms finished and published so people can setup mining outposts.
The reason why empire space mining is more profitable then 0.0 space mining its because getting bistot/crok is such a long freakin trip. With player stations the long trip would simply be back to the markets of secure space.
Besides, you'd think that would be better all round, i mean pirates get increased loot from killing miners on the way home, and the miners who do make it home get increased profits. _______________________________________________
