Please, have someone install Windows XP in such a way that its' system partition is other than C: (don't ask, Windows installer decided C: was already taken during install, by smartcard reader - sigh).
I have it as F:, and I have horrible troubles every time I need to patch. Had to reinstall EVE completely for last 2 patches, since patch was failing with things like:
"Patching Error in file resui.stuff. The specified file did not have the correct CRC.
This indicates that your installation is corrupt. Please reinstall EVE-online".
I've had variuos errors before, but last 2 patches are real time-wasters. I have no trouble with patching on machines where I have C: as Windows system partition.
Maybe you are doing something wrong? I have windows on drive D and have no problems.
And i believe that installer checks your registry for path where your client is installed anyways, so it realy does not matter on what drive your windows is...
btw i think this *.stuff files you can download from site cause its somehow "known" issue, but i just cant find the damn link for you

Edited by: Smokie24 on 08/02/2007 23:19:50 Hi,
I have a problem...or 2. BEFORE the latest patch everything was dandy. I installed patch, everything cool until the end of patch where it look like it froze. Some pop-up came up in a bunch of squares for text it looked. I press ok (since that the only text I understood and was a button) I press that and return me to desktop. All look fine. I go to open browser and it took forever, so i hit ctrl-alt-del and my usage/resources are being used like no tomorrow. This lead to system freeze up within couple minutes. I had to pull power cord from back of desktop So I plug it back in, restart, start EVE, login and now my ctrl and alt dont work, as well as some screens not loading at all. I said ok whatever..goto deadspace and figure out quickly that none of my f1-f12 buttons work, so I say screw this, I goto exit the game and my escape button now doesnt work now im stuck in a mis-functional game with no way to exit. Esc broken, windows button broken, screens not loading and cant fire missiles, obviously I cannot ctrl-alt-del my way to the desktop...so again im stuck to having pull the power plug directly from the tower
My only fix it seemed, COMPLETE uninstall of EVE and COMPLETE re-install After the re-install everything seems to be ok...for now.
And also my harddisk is pertition or whatever. I got EVE installed on F: prior to the latest patch (german tutorial one) EVE worked fine.

Its due to Vista new security feature where programs are not allows to write to files in the "Programs Files" or "Windows" Directory....another "Screw You Developer Man" from Microsoft :P
...me goes back to "Fixing" some software for Vista...
IMHO.... I think the default location of eve should be changed, if this is now the behavior in Vista. I install it in $DRIVELETTER\ccp, for example. (in my case, $DRIVELETTER = C:)
I am currently using Windows Vista Ultimate, with no ill effects of upgrading.
I do back up my eve directory tree, and copy it around for use in testing on the test server, etc
I do not advocate the disabling of UAC, I personally recommend you leave it enabled.
I was able to patch this morning with no problem, UAC did pop up and ask me if it was okay to do so, which I expected.

You can easily fix that afterwards, but all programms that will be looking for F: would have to be reinstalled. This post is not my personal opinion. It does represent the standpoint of every single player ! |

I have a minor issue and it's not related to the latest patch but one of the preceeding.
With the addition of the possibility to search for alliances in people and places the selection box (character/corporation/solar system) got a slider.
Searching for a solar system can no longer be selected directly.
Could the actual drop down area be extended to make this unnecessary ? Would appreciate that.
Or sort the list to have the unusual search selections in the 'hidden' area. (not easy as 'unusual' seems to be vague and player pref dependant).

Everytime i undock from a station, the overall grafical environment is "wierd". By that i mean it's generally darker than normal and lacks the usual stars and such effects. Also, the warp tunnel effect shows up before you go into warp. By opening and closing the map the problem is usually fixed though, but still very annoying.
When will the view reset that occurs after each jump be fixed btw? Another annoying "feature" that has been around since the first Revelations patch. |

Doesn't seem to be an issue with "saved" overview profiles once you add them, then resave your profile (at least that fixed it for me) ... if you're using the standard profile I'd suggest creating a "saved" one for now so you don't have to keep readding :) - Dunedon

Know it wasn't strictly patch related, since the d/t change to Motsu area wasn't released with the patch, but whatever you changed (i.e. moved left a bit) seems to have made a huge difference to the lag problem in the area. Motsu, Oichiya and one other system in particular appear to be suffering a lot less than normal.
Great job if this is a permanent effect of the tweak...

Edited by: Baleorg on 10/02/2007 00:18:16 heh :-P never got issues so far with patching.
guess you either need to download a full build either from the official site or if you cant download from there from my mirror (hmm believe its still version 28296 though) or try the link in my sig, although i think in your case it might not work, or well. it might, but the splash.bmp wont be the right thing, and i have no clue what happens then, if your client fails the selfcheck (does it even check splash.bmp ? ) or if you get flagged for "modified" client because not all files are in sync hmm

My Windows XP system partition is on D: - I haven't had this problem. (EVE is installed on E: - it's a very long and boring story.)

I am still getting a flickering texture and am still able to see star gates and stations while in solar system mode using the map. In addition to this, my map randomly opens even though the hotkey to open the map itself has been unbound. Any help with any of these issues is most appreciated.

I have a strange bug here.
I¦m running vista 32bits since last week and was running smooth. But yesterday, two of my three accounts just stop working. When u select the char, game start loading and crash to desktop saying something abou DEP closed application. The problem is my third account is working normally.
Anyone has any idea? That two accounts is bugging are on voice server test... The issue started a few hours after I emailed ccp for the voice test.
All accounts are working fine on XP.
I tryed everthing. reinstall. prefes.ini, disable dep for eve.exe and install game in another parttion. Also, windows says cant run exefile.exe on bin dir without dep enable.
Thanks.

The Vista bug.... crash after char load screen when loading station. .....goto ... eve/cache/prefs document....open it and add this line at the end......voiceenabled=0.......be sure to save the changes. As soon as i did that , the load to station crash stopped.
