My girlfriend and I are getting married in December, right before Christmas. For our honeymoon, we're looking for some winter romance . We're looking at Lapland, but we're also curious about Iceland. Is Iceland fun that time of year? Lots of lights and candles, or is it dark and gloomy because of the lack of sunshine? Is there stuff to do?

Thought about Norway? The aurora boreallis (Northern Lights). That would be romantic, i know my GF wants to see it. But i belive the best time to see this is March, i dont know what its like in Christmas

Bloody freezing! But it can be quite pretty. People put lights in the trees and that. Snow makes it all look nice as well.
Not sure about honeymoon tho mate. Go for somewhere hot dude! :)

Just had a December wedding - it's a great time of year to choose. Congratulations btw. I recommend going somewhere where you can sleep and relax a lot after the stress of the last-minute planning and the day itself.
I've only ever been to Iceland in the summer. depends what you like doing really - I guess all the geothermal pools, bars, restaurants etc are open in the dark but you won't see the stunning scenery at its best. ___________________ Chief Scientific Officer Technology La'Zie Author of The End |

If you want the "cliche" winter experience, Switzerland and Austria are quite good. If you want something a bit more special, I can recommend this. It is VERY remote, awesome scenery, nice spa treatments, and no one will "get in your way" during your honeymoon.
That is ofc if you really want to go to a cold place. Personally, I'd chose the Seychelles wich are THE most beautiful islands in the world. More specifically, this island with one of the most amazing small resorts in the world. _______________________________________________

Laplands stretches over parts of northern Sweden, Norway, and Finland. Amazingly cold there, dont go theer in winter. Oh, and not in summer either, or you'll be eaten by mosquitos.

Ehm... Like I said, this'll be our honeymoon... I suspect I'll have plenty of hotness available

Thanks, you too!

Wow, Patagonia... It's on my top-list of places to visit "someday"; I doubt we'd do it for a honeymoon though. Austria is definitely a "Plan B", I've been coming there for almost my entire life and love it.

Hehehe... Well, what would be very romantic and adventurous is the Ice Hotel. Coldness you can dress for, and like I said, we'll have eachother to keep warm

Exactly

I've lived there for 2 years... Lots of beautiful places, true, but since we're getting married on the first day of Winter, we want to keep it in style and do a winter honeymoon --

Scotland, thats where you want to go!
A nice place in the heart of the highlands. I've stayed here a few times, quietish town, nice scenery and not too far from everywhere else. 1.5hrs from Edinburgh and Glasgow, 2hrs from Inverness. --------------------------------
