Edited by: R0ME0 on 09/02/2007 13:58:39 While in Jita trying to sell some of my BPOS; some stolen some not, I was a little bored just sat in my shuttle spamming the local with my WTS posts so I decided to have some fun and try a very obvious scam, it was so obvious in fact that I thought who ever falls for this as IÆm sure youÆll agree when you read on is a certified dip-****.

heh, just another little story i'll throw out there as it's a scam that probably won't work anymore and yours isn't that interesting so I might aswell hi-jack
As msot of you will know when they first introduced item linking you could only link items you owned, and this only changed with revelations. So I found this out early and hit the chat channels, linking my expensive BPO's, bragging how rich I was, looking for the perfect victim. I had a good idea what I was after, a rich greedy carebear without too much game experience. I found one atlast and made my uber offer, they send me 100mil and I let them choose any one of my BPO's, the ultimate game of trust. I added a touch of realism to it by mentioning that my Hulk BPO would not be included in this as it generated the majority of my capital.
Well she was suspisious naturally but I assured her it really didn't bother me whether she played or not, one day someone would and would be very happy because of it. So she offered me 50mil instead. Now a lesser man would say yes to this and probably get nothing out of it. Agreeing to less will ring warning bells in your victims ears, i said it had to be 100mil, not because I needed it but because it ahd to be a significant amount of risk. So she sent it, I said lololololol. But wait, theres more!
I log in on my alt the next day and see her in chat. So I start saying how I'm going to quit because a bastard scamed me. She instantly guessed who that no good scammer might be and promptly compensated my alt for his loss. LOLOLOL. The end, 180mil for about 20minutes worth of typing.

I was present at that episode, i was in Jita local warning ppl not to fall for it and wasted 30 min of my life trying to warn some ppl not to fall for it, but guess what ... it didn't matter. Some ppl are too stupid to have money.
PS: I suspected that DiNoer was his alt as he was asking for 10 mil ISK in local, but i couldn't find any common history between him and R0ME0.

this is actually wrong, there has always been away to do this, if you look for the item by using the search tool under your assets all results found are linkable :)))
i used to do this in systems with no stations to claim i had expensive mods on me, wanting to sell because people where chasing me and i didnt want to risk loosing the item..
Offer it at a good enough discount and jet it in a can, they will send isk prior :)))
OR you say you just found a hauler and it has some local expanders on it, i will undock you pay me xx i fly away and you take ship...

You actually did make money. I'm curious as to how many people made money off of you.
Yes, clearly there were some dim marks, but It think there were some remora about, siphoning money off of you, scamming you to a measure knowing that you would give to them in order to get more from others.

on a side note to this: you don't always have to scam to get free cash:
twice now i've gotten spats of 15million ISK for being cool/friendly with people, as well as a reasonably well-fitted Ferox. not the 75billion that romeo has acquired, but still worthwhile to an Ubern00b like me. ah the forums are fantastic and full of love

rofl Romeo - u trying to be a celebrity in eve or something? Just the fact that you keep making self-acclaimed god of scams, and there you are, making all these blogs, and threads...and have you ever thought to yourself if people care? rofl.
Seriously - You keep posting how people are so dumb, and such....yet your making threads, saying how great you are, and you fail to realise the similar contrast between you and your 'victims'. Lol. Its rather funny i will admit. The fact that you cant see past your rather extended, nose. lol.

Nothing wrong with scams, but trumpeting your success makes you a second rate scammer.
It's when your victims post that you gain notoriety. You just sound desperate for attention.

Edited by: Mike Spike on 15/02/2007 07:43:02 Edited by: Mike Spike on 15/02/2007 07:39:35 A mate of mine was angry after being scammed two times, so he decided to do it, too. He told people that we was interested in buying their stuff, but he couldn't bid since something was buggy or something like that. He told them to set up a new contract to his corp and set the buyout to the price, he said he wanted to pay, but set a starting bid of 0 isk to make it work.
Two guys did it and so he ended with a carrier and a nighthawk. Think buyout for the carrier was 1.5 bil. He placed a bid of 1.5 mil isk or so, waited 3 days and got it. Still waiting for the nighthawk I think.

lol scammers are ****s. unable to play the game fair. noobs in real life.
i play MMO's for many many years. and in every mmo there are some ****s that think its cool to scamm ppl.
scamming is easy, true. and often its theyr own fault to fall for a scamm.
but many ppl trust other players more than they would trust a stranger in RL. because they play the same game, have thus the same interest. Sure if ur expirianced in MMO's you know there are scammers out there.
I scammed alot of ppl in every MMO, but after i got the money or item, i gave it back, cause i just wanted to test the scamm. In silkroad i even scammed someone by telling him im a GM ( the guy flammed a scammer, so i asked him as a GM what happened, he showed me^^ and falled again for the same scamm) but i gave back the item.
its just *** to destroy someones fun in a game.
i would find it cool and fun if you scamm ppl, but then give back the stuff. but no u keep it and your even proud of it, you even brag with it in ur lousy blog, thats just laughable.
kiddyz like you should not play mmo's. ppl like you destroy the fun of a game for so many ppl. players should be atleast 18 imho.
someday you will grow up and realize how stupid and childish it was what u did. but i gues you will keep doing this. cause you seem to really think this is cool. lol
if you would roleplay a scammer, i could accept it. but you sound more like you roleplay a uber1337 kid.
im very very impressed of ur deeds, really !!
