With the release of the new ships last year, all the new Rigs, and the ever growing size of the gaming community within Eve, Slots for ME and Copying are becoming harder and harder to find in stations (without long wait times). In order to overcome this shortage we set up a Research POS with a couple of mobile labs. Each Mobile lab has 3 ME, 3 PE, and 1 copy slot. 80% of PE slots in stations and probably a higher percentage in mobile labs are empty, unused and a waste of my POS fuel.
Recommendations:
a) Change the slot layout for mobile labs to something like 3 ME, 1 PE and 3 Copy to reflect the typical way people utilize the slots, or
b) Give us the ability to configure the slots in Mobile labs in a way that will best suit us.
If there is a need to place limitations around that, I could live with the seven slots we currently have but only having the ability to configure a maximum of 3 for any one type. I know how I'd use them.
Another limitation could be that it takes a week to recongure a slot before it's usable. Not my idea of fun, but it would realistically account for the time it would take to convert the slot.
Thoughts?

while I like this idea lets be real here, aweek to switch over the slot is just a bit high. this is the future after all so it should take no more then 24 hours.

A day sounds fine -- also .. I initially suggested a possible max of 3 of any one slot type. My fellow corp members prefer having the ability to configure all slots the way they want them -- I suggested a max as a possible give and take for CCP. They want no max or a max as high as possible (4, 5, etc...). What can I say, they figure if you pay for it you should be able to control what it does.

Well ... It might be good idea to implement 'specialized' labs. Lets say around 75% of total amount of slots reserved for one thing only. Or Say 50% of total amount of slots, reserved for one thing only and ummmm .... doing things say at 60% speed instead of 75% in current labs.
Would end in something like 'Material Research Laboratory' - 5x ME slots at 60% speed and 0 other slots. Or what ever way it would be balanced in grand scheme of things. Tweaking CPU and Powergrid usage is ofcource another balancing option also. Or demanding sovernity over the system in extreme cases to rise a risks a bit more.
