The beauty of the Universe cannot be pictured in words. Just look at the pictures from the Hubble Telescope. But, EVE paints the Universe in Clouds. Why? Is it because they just don't have the talent to produce.. the real Universe? Not enough bandwith? This is what the real Universe looks like: http://hubblesite.org/gallery/ Not pea-soup like the brains at CCP have painted it. What are your opinions, Pilots of EVE? Thanks

hey that first pic looks just like some of the systems in eve.... and if they made it look like the real universe then all the solar systems would be dull and all black with a few roid belts mostly have two stars and not be very intresting to look at

Did you bother to even look at most of those images? If you look, many of them look exactly like the locales in Eve. The backgrounds are absolutely incredible.
Sincerely,
Mataquia.

In EVE every system looks more or less the same, the only difference being the color of the clouds. This just screams dull. What are CCP focusing on anyway, their card games, WoD Online? lol cuz it sure aint eve.

Indeed.
EVE is not the real universe, it is a different one, therefore it doesn't have to look the same.

You do realize that most of the Hubble's pictures are either phaseshifted (making IR/UV visible and such) or just colored from black-to-almost black scale to something prettier?
Besides Hubble is broken atm. --- Mandatory disclaimer: These are my thoughts, not my corps/alliances. ---

Be happy that EVE backgrounds are pretty at all. The vast majority of space is black and dull with a starry background, and pretty nebular clouds in 100% of solar systems as seen in EVE is completely unrealistic. If you want something more true to life, here's what you do: Go to Control Panel > Display > Screen Saver > Pick "Starfield" and pretend you're playing EVE. You can make sound with your mouth, it's ok.
I do wish that certain large landmarks of EVE were visible (e.g. the Ginnungagap black hole that's allegedly "easily visible" from the Konora system), but ultimately, who cares? --- High quality pics of ALL EVE ships!

It's a new galaxy, not a new universe. As for how the systems look, yes it wrong compared to how the real universe is. But it's just a game, besides if they made it like the real universe the game would look so ******* dull. I could go on but I wont.* |

Who really gives a ****! It looks nice as it is, yes it's unrealistic, but lots of things in eve are not true to life!
Maybe in Kali 3 when they do the GFX update, you will get new backgrounds and more visual sex, but until then, focus on the foreground. ------------------------------------- The difference between a Pirate and an Anti-Pirate is that an Anti-Pirate fights ships fitted with guns!

Who's to say the majority of New Eden systems are not inside a nebula. We are not talking about a galaxy, just a small part that New Eden sits in. Count the systems, its tiny on a galactic scale.

I didnt say its a different universe, I said its not on the pictures on that site.
Its like taking a picture of a ball, saying "Look its all yellow, and on your picture it has a blue spot on it, sure its taken from the opposit direction, but theres nothing blue on any of my pictures. Make youre pictures more realistic!"

So you saw all that beautiful color pictures and thought the universe looks like this to your eye, but if you looked around at the hubble site you'd find this:
Quote:
The colors in Hubble images, which are assigned for various reasons, aren't always what we'd see if we were able to visit the imaged objects in a spacecraft. We often use color as a tool, whether it is to enhance an object's detail or to visualize what ordinarily could never be seen by the human eye.
Sorry to burst your bubble.

screw real life, just make eve background location based with story behind them, like freelancer, that will do the trick.

Only two things are needed to make it look good..
1. consistency or in other words: every system within a region should have the same background. It's called region for a reason ;) Different regions get different backgrounds ofcourse.
2. Some regions without any texture at all, just stars. Kinda deep space :)

I like the backgrounds.
What I would like to see though is true nebulae - at the moment each region/constellation (I forget which) has it's own backdrop in each system (from what I've seen) - like a visual guide.
Now that they've got the positions of the other stars in the background (which is brilliant, I must say) can't we get a basic starfield background, and have nebulae in the same way? So each system is slightly different, but realstic in it's way? Should be very easy to do, fake size boxes and things. That way the black hole won't just be visible in one system, but from the next system out...and the next...and so on. That would be cool. And fairly easy to do.
Plus, ever been to New Eden itself? That's sex on a stick. Went out there in beta before the omgwtfbbqgankacorps moved out to 0.0.

Hubble is aimed at interesting objects. The gallery there, probably, barely comes up to a 0.1 percent of the views in the universe.
If you want to know how eve should look like if they were going for a realistic approach, go outside at night and look up, add a few more stars since there's less light polution in space and you're there.
Pretty boring for a game setting.

EVE is in a stellar nursery, must be.
Proof? Well, almost no habitable planets (so the ones that are must be terraformed?) and the suns are very close together - about a quarter the distance in the vicinity of Earth.
So the nebula could be surrounding us. The different colours - well, maybe reflected light?
