I've played the demo, and I hate it. It's so boring and slow, there's nothing to do while your waiting for stuff to build so you just end up sat there. But then, I think the same about C&C aswell, and lots of people like that.
Company of Heroes is the win RTS for me, always something to be doing. ------

When you're sitting there, you should be building more stuff. Start playing it properly :)
Edit: been playing the demo today and its great fun, gfx are cool, but mainly LOVING the seamless zoom and interface. Excellent game basically.

The demo is only 2 campaign missions, but they take ages if you dig in, like I usually do in RTS's. Its really cool. Especially when you kill the enemy commander in their base, and when they die, they go up in a huge nuclear explosion, killing all of their buildings in quite a wide radius.

I've been playing the multiplayer beta for a couple of months already, so it's no question. Downloaded the demo of course too - nothing like a good skirmish which took up my time back with TA. I did notice there was a considerable jump in the AI difficulty from Medium to Hard; I have no problem squashing the med AI, but Hard surprised me. It was quite fun to say the least. Already preordered a copy a while back, and will also pick up a second one just because.

Boring and slow???? I think it's a hella more exciting than most RTSs to date. Then again I was always a Total Annihilation fan with it's hulk smashy design, not the rock-paper-scissors kind you find today. Resource infrastructure just got so much more important again.

The seamless zoom is awesome but the UI ewwww its massive clunky and fills half the screen, That's the only down point on a fantastic game though, mines already pre-ordered.

I tried the game again, my opinion has improved, although I don't think it's a game I would purchase. The boring and slow part was partly to do with the fact I had no idea what I was doing the first time round, but partly due to the queueing system, which although is a great idea, works great and is useful as hell, once you've queued stuff up, there's not much to do but sit and wait.
I do rather like the big spiderbot thing however. ------

Played the demo, it's even more like TA than I thought it would be. Quite possibly the best RTS i've ever played - and that was just the demo!

The entire game is fully moddable, so id expect the ui to be nicer later.
The map shown in the demo is only a 5km by 5km map.... to put that in perspective, the biggest map is 81x81km!!!!
edit: The Czar is a sexy unit.... i love performing ID4 style attacks :D

Hmm... /me downloads demo.
Hope it's improved since I last played the beta. Thought it was nowhere near as good as TA, then.

Enjoyed the Demo and can't wait to play the full thing, I do hope the interface gets streamlined down a bit.
Playing it on low resolutions will be hard.

I've gotta get a new PC, the campaign was a slide show for me but the skirmish mode wasn't too bad.
Btw if you happen to have dual monitors on your PC there's a setting that lets you use the second screen as a map overview of the area.
All in all, very cool.
I have the body of a supermodel. I just can't remember where I left it.

Just played the demo for a bit, uninstalled it, got bored
Its slow, the interface is clunky, and to get any level of performance out of it I have to make it look like its about 4 years old
I didn't like TA very much either though, and Gas Powered Games, they make Dungeon Siege, which I also think is naff :|
Aaaanyway, I think I'll stick with Dark Crusade for now ================

I love the demo more than i like most actual games, it is amazing, its not a game for impatient people however, i think if you are the sort of person who gets bored if they arent bale win a game within the first five minutes you wont like it.
I love watching my base expand and expand to the point where i can build 4 monkeylords at once within a minute of each other.. yarrrrrr
It seems to me like im going to be laying this much more than i will C&C3, the onylt hing i didnt like about it initially was the UI, but now i realise why it has to take up so much space... becuase there is so much you can do with it i love using the minimap zoomed in so i can watch my main base while my main camera to zoom about everywhere... and the thing about waiting becuase you have queued up all the buildings... use that time to plan were you are going to put stuff, or get a factory built straight awya so you can start getting your engineers about everywhere :D or perhaps... just dont use the queue? lol
Amazing game, wouldnt uninstall it for all the tea in china! And thats just the demo.. rarr..
sorry about spelling, trying to do this fast

I would agree, but in games I'm usually more of an expansionist than a warmonger, and I love Transport Tycoon, and god knows that needs patience if you want results.
Its not so much that it was slow, per-se, but rather that I didn't feel engaged at all - I just wasn't *interested* in expanding. Maybe I should try one of the other two factions *shrug* ================
