Eve has no compelling storyline. The NPC mobs aren't even arguably dangerous. It is, quite simply, a box of sand.
When you log into Eve, you are paying to enter a sandbox with the current occupants. Some are nice. Some are sociopaths. They are creating the storyline, goals, risks, etc... It is a microcosm of our alter egos.
They are not controllable but they can be beaten. However, they are not amateurs and you are unlikely to beat them first try (whether it be in freightering, market, or pew).
It's brutal. I still shake after I fight and I've been pvp for years. I've lost a lot over those years, but I've won a bit too.
That's what you have to look forward to in this game. If it's not for you, we understand. We have all rage logged at some point because we lost more than we wanted to.
I think I've quit the game at least half a dozen times.
It's still the only game I know that creates a level of immersion that makes you want to throw-up for two hours after a bad loss. I've also been unable to sleep for hours after a good win. That's what we pay for.
I agree code and the current MERC structure are unbalanced, but that is the outcome of the Retribution patch in 2012...
I hated the retribution patch.
Yes, a lot of people appear to be confused how the game actually works, there are a lot of myths floating around. Honestly the solution is rather simple. Either correct High Security space or just remove it all together and leave a few rookie systems. A lot of my aggravation stems from not understanding how high security works after 2 years later because of game mechanics are not clear. edge plays, loop holes and sanctioned exploits. I'm starting to think CCP wants to keep the concept of hisec lines blurred Maybe the solution is just to stay out of hisec and low sec permanently.
I think I was unclear. What I meant to say is I sympathize with your pain, but that you received the product you paid for.
You don't understand engagement mechanics because you have been avoiding engagements.
It's hard to learn the rules of any game if you don't play it.
The solution isn't a nerf, it's to pvp enough to learn the basics of how it works.
A couple dozen cheap frigates is cheaper than a freighter... And more fun to lose. |

You flew your Charon thru Uedama, when at that time already some hundred ships have been ganked. Seriously? Your webber was popped too, i assumeYou would have been popped anyways with our without your game crash! That's as sure as there comes Sunday after Saturday! When there is a huge red circle around Uedama in your map, don't go there. Btw, next time buy a permit, it's just 10M and you'll survive. Oh I just won't bother buying another freighter. I'll extract the JF skills and put them toward something else. It's pointless. I've played this game for 2 years. It's not like doing a haven 14.3 au from a stargate. There is always some exploit or edge play or some mistake that's costly. I don't even know what red circle your talking about. If that was your 'webber' it explains a lot.
That's not a webber fit for taking a freighter through gank systems. You need much better then that and you'll be much safer as a result. |

It was unexpected violence that compelled me to get interested in the more dangerous parts of Eve. Rather than be a victim of it, I owned it and made it a tool for myself. Other people fold up and leave the game because someone found a way to kill them that they didn't see coming.

There are in general three kinds of fits for webbers listed below from best to worst. Fits are somewhat irrelevant as they include 2-3 webs and then whatever else you want. I would recommend buffer fit to prevent getting ganked.
1. Huginn or Rapier (The T2 Recons for Minmatar in case I got the names wrong). They can fit good buffer fits and thus are harder to gank (still will die though but it is a risk with everything here). The most important thing is that with Recon 4 or 5 and 2-3 webs, they can web a freighter into warp on almost any gate no matter where both ships spawn.
2. Hyena (Minmatar e-war frig) - same as the recons but cheaper, not a long of a range on the webs, and can be ganked much easier.
3. Any other ships - Not as good but better than nothing. Your best bet to survive is de-cloak the webber and see if they are in range of your freighter. If not, you will have to try to blind fly the ship around till you are in range. Then you decloak the freighter and go to warp. |

One more thing I forgot to add:
Once you are being bumped, there is two more options you can try. Both work but relies on a little luck. The first one is a much harder than the second and the second probably has the high chance of success.
1- Have a fast alt or corp mate with an mwd fly in front of the freighter and try to warp to the corp mate (needs a fleet duh). It is hard as the bumper can just change direction of the bump, but it can work.
2- Force the mach bumper to stop. Get one or two alts and put them in frigates with 1 scram and as many webs as you can put on them. Have them warp near the freighter (again needs fleet). As the mach is coming in for a bump, have ONE of the alts suicide on the mach with the scram and all webs. have the frig moving so it is harder for the mach or someone else to kill it before concord arrives. Once concord arrives and kills the first frig, have the second frig suicide on the mach.
The objective is to keep the mach still for as long as possible giving your webber time to slow the freighter so it can warp out.
One thing to remember - Once you are bumped, you are just using the webber to slow the freighter. Once you get the freighter slowed to 100 m/s or so, the webs will just hurt you, so turn them off. There is a set range for warp to start, so if you are slowing down, you actually want the ship to have a high threshold for warp.
There is more to the mechanics than that, but you can see the main point. |

I'm sorry, I dont understand who "they" are. How are you supposed to figure that out before losing billions? I got bumped before my webber was even within range of the freighter and got pushed out 200km off the gate, to me this is the most stupidly absurd game mechanic I have seen thus far. |

When I got 10 minutes to live and the game has network and launcher issues, there is no fleet, no alt characters, no one to call because it's hisec, its just 50 hours lost in less than a day. A lot of what your talking about sounds like theorycrafting to me. I'd like to hear from someone who bumps freighters like this for a living. And the ones I've spoken to say the same thing, webs dont help you, reps dont help you, they will take their time, hours if necessary, if they want to kill you even in a 0.6 system, it will happen. The issue I have is this mechanic happens on the warp-in gate itself and that Macherials have unlimited reign in holding you hostage. If it happened 15km off the out gate I wouldn't have a problem. My advice is to stay out of hisec because the mechanics there are ********. Funny how you only had issues WHILST being bumped I call shenanigans

I've had to rewrite this 3 times now because this stupid forum keeps loading a previous draft erasing my message.
I have issues whilst not being bumped. Constantly I get Network Socket error on one client, while my other clients have no problem. Spotify, Teamspeak, Netflix, nothing else has this problem. But randomly one client will dc. In this case the launcher even refused to restart the client. But I'm not complaining about that. Others in this forum have said Macherial's shouldn't get a free warp scram in high sec without consequence.
https://zkillboard.com/kill/52734857/
The time it takes to dock in jita while the message please wait for docking pops up, is enough time for a Tornado to instalock and instapop your pod. Just did 34 jumps in a pod too.
Just recently in Provi I lost a Crow because a 2.85 second align time isn't long enough to avoid an instalock instapop svipul sitting on the warp in gate.
There are many examples I can choose from. The only one that has ever truly bugged me was being held hostage on the warp in gate in a freighter in hisec.
"We were ganked" is the message I now recieve when trying to re post this message. |

LOL not theorycrafting my friend. Actual FACTS based on personal and corp experience. I have bumped freighters and been bumped. I have killed freighters, saved freighters, and lost freighters.
As for what I mean by "They", it is simple.
- You uncloak the webber (I hope you get how this works?) - You look on the overview of your freighter pilot. Is the webber within web range? If yes, decloak freighter, web it, and warp. - If webber is not in range, you will have to manually pilot the ship to get in range. The follow step 2.
You died because your webber did not beat the mach to the freighter. |

So I have to have 2 accounts when being a freighter pilot is what your saying.
Your kind of missing the point, if there were 20 brutix's that instapopped my freighter on the warp-in gate itself, we would not be here. It's about a Macherial taking his time to push a freighter over 200km off the gate for 15 mins to 2 hours in hi-sec. For FREE.
The brutix's had to wait 15 minutes before undocking from the station. It's an absurd mechanic. Might as well make warp scrams non aggressive, get rid of gate guns, and no cooldown timer so criminals can undock any time. Whats the difference? Atleast then we all know what the rules are. |

naw the client dc'ed after he bumped me preventing me from aligning, I was already webbed. I kept trying to warp, and then boom. Socket Error. It happens every so often, but it only happens on 1 client. Then the launcher kept failing to relaunch the client so I had to restart that too.

One simple tool you can use on one client is the in game map. Open up. Under statistics, select ships destroyed in the last hour. If you see a big red dot on your route with many ships destroyed (like uedama usually has), avoid that system. Check the ships destroyed in the last 24 hours too. If you see a big red dot on your route and it's not there when you do the one hour option, do a little research on your route. It maybe there was a normal event or fight and you are safe, or gankers who are itching for a target and it's not safe.
Another option, send the Webber in first. If he sees a Mach on his overview, wait. See if the mach passes through or sits there. Check the pilot and corp of the mach too. Yes they can hide in alt corps but some don't.
