drone ships with heavy drones (myrmi) are easy to kill with a ceptor. just pop the drones and grind down the ship

Originally by: lofty29 Hate to inform you, but piracy with anything but the crow is very hard nowadays. Everybody fits nos, and its extremely hard to stay in a fight for long. You'll kill lots of frigs and maybe some cruisers but the rest is just a no no. Sux Works well as a tackler in gangs tho, but AF's are more suited to what you want to do.
dunno... not meny BSs can break my cap on my ranis whit a small nos :D
they have to have 3+ to keep my dry.
piracy is quite fun in a ceptor :) i like it atm...

I did solo belt piracy for a good long time in a Malediction. I stayed out of web range. 3x Beams, 1x Standard Launcher, lots of recharge for the MWD+Disruptor and no tank. I took out lots of frigs, destroyers and haulers. Occaisionally I took out other interceptors and more than a few cruisers. In hindsight a Raptor, Claw, Crow, Crusader, Jaguar or even Wolf could have done the same job.
Really, in belt piracy, you're mostly going to be up against noobs who won't even fire back so it doesn't matter what you fly as long as it is 1) fast, 2) locks fast and 3) can keep them from warping.

When I started The Establishment with some friends, I needed isk. I found this nice little pipe(transport route). Alot of haulers came though there, I used a Taranis in the begining and then a Daredevil. The only targets I was interested in was Haulers and I either blow em up for thier loot or ransomed them. But I also had a Hauler standing by with cargo scanner. In 6 weeks I had a Vindicator and a Navy Mega in my hangar of this form of Piracy (just to give an estimate of what I earned). Used 2 scamblers and alot of firepower on the cepter. This is almost 2 years ago, but iam certain it can still be done - just find the right pipe, ex. to somewhere where they are building outposts or new alliances are setting up.

I'd just like to stick up for what is still one of my favorite ships.
I ran arround low sec for months in a Crusader. I prepositioned Giant cans in my favorite systems in a SS so my tiny cargo bay didn't mean much. With Dual light beams, 4, standard crystals, a T2 ab, 20km scrambler, a named repper 1 t2 heatsink, 1 CPR (named) and a T2 adaptive armor hardener I was able to kill any frig and most cruisers I engaged. Admitedly the cruiser pilots tended to the nubish but most of them were caracls and could still hit me. That's why I had the AB and not a MWD, it saves you lots on other fittings, keeps your sig radius small which minimized dammage and still let me dodge nearly all direct fire. With an orbit radius of 12.5km I was out of med nos and most web range.
But the real beauty of this type of beginning is that it's fairly cheap so you can replace losses. And since you are so dang fast, you chose when to fight or when not to. You also control the engagment. That lets you get near a lot more trouble than a slower easier to catch ship. If you fly Cruisers or AF you'll go pop when you lose, with the ceptor you'll almost always live an learn.

Inties are great for 0.0 Piracy. Been in a few gangs from 15 to 30 people and you just fly around ripping everything up, then your jumping into the next system before you know it!
For Empire, dunno doubt it...
