I have a copy of the Chinese retail box, complete with metal box, Chinese booklet and cd. It's still inside its original plastic wrapping, so I can ony give you photos of the outside.
You take what is offered. And that must sometimes be enough. |

Here's one of my unopened copies sitting next to something just as rare, one of my unread copies of the strategy guide... completely useless now, except for some light reading and a historic look at the game in it's early days...some interesting tidbits, ships had a stat called max passengers, I guess CCP wanted to treat scientists, refugees, marines etc as a different type of cargo, and the Heron started off as a mining ship...

I bought 2 copies, both DVD case. One in 2004 ish, and then again when I restarted playing in 2005. They have slightly different manuals to each other, and make great reading when you see how much the game has changed --

I bought a boxed copy late 2005, but only had the balls to actually try it "pay-monthly mmo? " when i started uni and a friend mentioned it in passing. However the boxed version just had the disc and the code, i then saw an unboxed version with the manual (?) for a couple of quid, so now i have the dvd box, the manual and 2 discs, however because it was unboxed there was no key-code, so i had to get a second account the "normal" way

Got 2 for some reason, one has the manual too. However, am I right that they would be useless now due to new hardware IP address change? ------------------------------------------

no, but there have been so many updates and patches that the autoloader would stare at you funny. you would, in theory, have to go to the patch archieves and patch from one level to the next a dozen times or so before you got to something that would autoload. downloading the full client directly would take a fraction of that time and trouble.

Edited by: Broadcast on 24/02/2007 19:35:40 What CCP should do, is release a collector's edition box set, with a CD of the latest build, audio CD, full manual, artbook, a unique ingame ship or mod, and a CCG starter deck all in a beautifully designed box embossed with the eve logo... I'd happily pay 200 for such a thing...
Everyone else in the industry had one... wow, lineage2, coh, guild wars, autoassault, ultima, star wars, eq2...etc etc
